  1. Half an hour later, it is still stuck on the locating satellites page. My software version is 3.80. Any suggestions other than just letting it sit outside for half an hour or so?
  2. I'm not sure. I have it sitting out on the roof of the van. I'll go check on it in half an hour and tell you then.
  3. I have tried to reset it, but it won't let me. Also, the owner's manual for this particular model is worthless. Nowhere in there does it even tell you how to perform a factory reset.
  4. Yet another problem with my Vista. What a waste of $150. Last time, it turned itself off right after I would turn it on. A factory reset fixed that problem. Now, it is stuck on the locating satellites screen. No matter how many satellites it has a signal from, it refuses to advance to the ready to navigate, accuracy XX feet screen. I've tried a factory reset, but I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
  5. Half dollars are still being minted. They just haven't been released for circulation the past few years because enough older ones are still out there. All the ones minted in the past few years have been for the uncirculated mint sets sold by the US Mint only.
  6. This is by far my most unpleasant caching experience yet. Freaking a-hole. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...6e-c2f04d1752fa
  7. Welcome to Geocaching, Romeo! Nice to see people I know from Where's George getting interested in Geocaching.
  8. I don't see any problem with it. Lots of people have hidden caches on their own land or a relative's land. In fact, some of the best ones tend to be on private property. Like Taoiseach said, I'd just mention in the description that the cache is there with permission, you own the land, or something to that effect.
  9. I called customer service, and they told me to do what sdarken posted. That fixed it!
  10. It may have a memory card, but I have no idea how to remove it if it is there.
  11. Nope. Even with brand spanking new batteries, it still turns itself off. I was getting the vertical line like in the thread PDOP's linked to, but now it's just going completely blank.
  12. Well, I downloaded the update software, but it still doesn't work. Same problem as before. Any other suggestions?
  13. I've had my Garmin etrex Vista for just over a year, and yesterday it started shutting itself off about 10 seconds after I turn it on. It's not a problem with the batteries. I already tried that. It just had to go bad just after the warranty expires. Any suggestions?
  14. However, lots of cemeteries are closed at night, and if you're creeping around a cemetery at night, you're going to look suspicious. There's just no avoiding it.
  15. Tjolly quoted the first post of the thread for some reason.
  16. I just got my first FTF this morning! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...13-5ea08f203719
  17. I'd do it if I had the proper vehicle and lived nearby.
  18. I was finally high bidder on a used PDA on ebay on Monday. I hope it gets here soon! I want to get out and get some caches!

    MOONSHINE 2008!

Unfortunately, I am going to have to delete my Will Attend log. I can't make it because I will be in Mt. Carmel visiting my grandpa that day.
  20. I'm heading out to look for my first caches in a while tomorrow!
  21. I've never done it, but I think you want Caches Along a Route, not Pocket Queries.
  22. I ate lunch at Moonshine today. Too bad it was pouring rain, so caching was out of the question.
