  1. Or... At least make wap links an option when setting up a new Insta-Notify. Maybe an option to only send along wap links via email...
  2. Can we have WAP links included in the Insta-Notify emails. Preferably the first link in the email as some phones are limited on characters. It would be nice to click a wap link that takes you directly to the WAP version of the cache page for those of use that get the Insta-Notify emails on our phone.
  3. Not that this is accurate data but, Sure is a lot of reboots. http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=www.geocaching.com
  4. I'm assuming that would be to store all the error logs... cause I don't think that would fix the application...
  5. Whats the weather like during Thanksgiving there? I may do something crazy like make a road just for this event.
  6. You can use GPSbabel to convert GPX to vCard format. Caches would be loaded as contacts.
  7. Bro_Ray has been hosting this event for the last two years. Beach Bash I've wanted to go both times, but life got in the way. I've heard there are some really great caches down there too. Just not too many events. You could try and start one your self. Could be as simple as just a few folks meeting at a local diner.
  8. I've seen sites do a temporary ip ban with a redirect and a message displayed saying that there is too many queries and to change the query time. So it can be controlled on both sides. This request is for anyone who wants to keep up with upcoming events. I've read all the other threads about people wanting feeds on caches, etc. I understand why that is a bad idea for Groundspeak as a company and their feature set.
  9. The statement wasn't a comparison of function, but rather a comparison of bandwidth usage. Readers can be configured to query at any interval. I'm not quite sure you completely understand the functionality of RSS. Notifications and PQs are prem. member features. I don't want to use the data from those features to post on a website. I'm not asking for anything special. Just a feed for events. That would be the easiest way for people to keep up to date with local events. Whether a user uses a feed reader or a webmaster displays the feed on local community website it makes no difference. My question/request is plain and simple. Promoting geocaching thru events is quite popular. We have new people show up all the time just to ask questions etc. Making the knowledge of these events more easily accessible is the goal here.
  10. I think that would be violating the TOS. An RSS feed probably doesn't chew up anywhere near as much bandwidth as say the stats banner that everyone puts in their sig. It's just text, and very little at that.. This isn't a technical discussion on the pros and cons of syndicated news. I'm just wondering if it's possible/feature request to have a feed for events for people that run local community sites?
  11. Yes, but thats not a feed. That would be nice if it was though.
  12. Texas is a busy state for caches and events.. Some us will drive 300 miles to the next big city for an event. The weekly emails contain too much information and would require too much work to output to a webpage.
  13. I've searched and read some good and some not so good threads. Would it be within the realm of possibility to have a rss/xml feed for events by state or something similar? The idea is to make it a little easier on some of the webmasters for updating news and events for the local area.
  14. I would very much like to read this step by step article. Will this be the same article posted in Today's Cacher? .. .. My dog will track the trail and sometimes circle the base of the tree where the cache is hidden. Just haven't gotten her to be consistent... She is usually pre-occupied with all the other smells..
  15. How about these tools? http://geo.rkkda.com/
  16. I noticed the url http://www.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx no longer works. Generates an error rather than a 404 so I'm not sure if this was on purpose. Either way there are a ton of people now with broken signatures all over the place. http://img.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx works just fine though. error message Server Error in '/stats' Application. 17. Let me rephrase this... I was being sarcastic as well.. it was a light jab towards cachers who complain about other cachers breaking the rules around here and how they play the game. For what its worth my mother is Mormon married to a Baptist and my other mother is Methodist...
  18. Yes better fear the religious types. Wouldn't want to be... ? Shall we add ethnic groups to the list too? (very sarcastic) I was being sarcastic as well.. it was a light jab towards cachers who complain about other cachers breaking the rules around here and their interpretation of those rules. For what its worth my mother is Mormon married to a Baptist.
  19. Meeting Select GC forum personalities, Mormons, and Jehovahs while caching or otherwise. .. Oh and my dog getting involved with an alligator.
  20. Firefox or IE, ctrl+mousewheel for those that have them...
  21. Large fraction by definition do you mean the forum users? I think its great to celebrate the number of caches you have found, but to use geocaching.com as a basis to compete and thumping the rules/guidelines doesn't make sense to me. I'm just saying maybe geocaching.com should be viewed differently by what it actually provides for us as geocachers.
