I pm the seller last night but no response so I went out and picked up a GPS today.

Iam just Looking for opnions since I no Longer have my Garmin 60C. I have $260 available for a GPS and trying to Figure out what gps will give me the most for my money. Currently looking at the Explorist 500 for $180.00 new any input would be appreciated.

I think there should be a one month option without atuomatic renewal, plus a 90 day option and a 120 day option. The one month one might get more people to try the premenium and if they like it they can switch to any of the other options. insteadof the automatic renewal...

It has has NADA83 thanks for the help. I hope it might make a little difference in finding benchmarks.

I have another questions what format do you have your Gps setup when you benchmark hunt do you use NADA27 or WGS84, I just wonder If one is better than the other. I have a 60C Garmin what setup do you use for benchmark hunting. thanks

I use the totals from the Icons if you click on the icons and you can get another count which in some cases its the same. I have found a few out there woth 300 finds and upto 400 Grabs. MaxB on the River they are #1 on my list I don't know how they do it but here are there numbers Finds 3049 Grabs 3076. I use the finds number hope that helps..

These Might seem like dumb questions to most of you. But here they are..... Iam curious does the NGS still put out benchmarks and If not what was the last year they did. I know Idaho Department of transporation has them all over the place. And has the goverment proscetuted anyone in the last few years for destroying a benchmark, Since alot of you are Surveyors I thought that Gps would elimate the need of benchmarks. I know to most of you these are probably stupid questions.

I agree with 2oldfarts (the rockhounders) its only a hobby. I appreciate how some of you take it more seriously than others. And I belive the citys have probably destroyed more benchmarks with new roads and othe developments. So Have Fun and keep benchmark Hunting.....

Okay Black dog trackers this is what I came up with. I counted your stats it says 563 records I came up a little short here is what I found. Found 318 destroyed 9 No Find 197 notes 32 =560 plus 4 that showed not logged which you left notes = 560 it took 20 minutes. but the 318 finds versus 302 is strange. I will look into doing my stats that way if holo and anyone else dosen'y have a problem. I not here to cause any problems.

Thanks everyone This thread has answered alot of Questions especially the scaled one which has been giving me grief. And using my pocket PC to bencmark hunt will make life alot easier plus I have been reading the bencmark logs and looking at the proper way to take pictures. I have been avoiding the ones not found so Iam going to go back and relook at them. Thanks Again

Thanks Difficult Run I really appreciate it. I have two caches to try to get people interested in benchmark hunting. I have been looking at the logs and photos and I really have learned the difference of just taking a picture of the disk and surronding area. And I really understand the challenge there is in Benchmark Hunting.

Well seventhings you are the only one on this list. The other benchmark hunter got bumped off while I was searching the list. it would of been in the top 20. And Artman you have some really good pictures.

Man for a person that has only done 25 benchmarks, Were I have been keeping track of utah and Idaho benchmarks for almost a year. And Iam not stealing from holos since I looked at names on gc.com had had to look at each persons profile. which took 3hrs of looking and as far as I can tell on my list there are only 2 pure benchmark hunters that have never done a Geocache. I could of pulled the most of the names from the benchmark site or this forum. Plus If you looked at my site even on the utah and idaho benchmarks its had a link to Holos site for months. And Then my site is in no way trying to compete against holos site. I could never come close. I just wanted to see the top benchmark hunters broken down in a simpler way. That why I have it were you can click on a name and it goes to there profile. Iam not sure what it has to do with me actually posting on the benchmarking forum since I do read it quite often has anything to do with it. So far Iam getting the impression that if your not part of this forum you don't belong....I have done 72 benchmarks and I really enjoy the challenge as I do Geocahing... Which this forum wouldn't be here if it wasn't for geocaching. Iam not here to start anything I just enjoy my hobby.

Okay Spoo I know of some that do both but how about Benchmark hunters. you can still be a geocacher and never hide a cache there are thousands of them.
