Recommendations for Scotland?
Simply Paul replied to Confused Chimp's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
'Behind' Ben Nevis, up Glen Nevis, are some amazing caches, and the UK's second tallest waterfall. Take care getting there if it's icy though! Rather easier are the ones at Neptune's Steps, on the canal. If you get as far as Glenfinnan, you'll find some amazing views (especially if you're a Harry Potter or Highlander fan) and several cool caches. Don't try for anything on Ben Nevis (or any mountain!) itself, unless you've the skills and equipment for it - they can look pretty safe and very tempting on a crisp morning, but a vision of hell by the afternoon. Have a great trip! -
Dreadful news. My thoughts are with his family and friends. I think we chatted at the NW Mega in 2012- a nice chap who'll be missed by those who knew him, or of him through his caches.

I think it's three. The tall strippy one's still an operational lighthouse, the small octaginal(?) one is either a private house or can be rented as a holiday cottage perhaps, and the small round(?) one is... used as a Daymark? Ice-cream parlour? -
Good work that man! I've only been to Belfast but would love to go back 'on tour' and see more of a very pretty, friendly country, through caching.

Welcome to the amazing world of Caching and this (quite quiet, these days - there may be a Geocaching Facebook Group near you, which may be more active) forum. I don't leave items in caches as a rule, but have dropped off Geolympix AANDs (Aluminium Alpha-Numeric Discs - a thing for setting and finding puzzle caches, or useful for setting multis) in caches all around the UK and overseas too. Lots of people have a little something they found 500 of on eBay cheap (micro torches, other tokens, even tea spoons!) that they do leave though. Often something with their caching name on it, if it's a 'Favoite' cache (in their top 10% of favourite caches; if they're a Premium Member, they can reward the cache with a Favorite Point) and they want to mark it as special. Other people's replies will be better

Untied Kingdom, but there's no need for that now. No Souvenir coming either. Regarding the OP, if you're taking items from a cache but leaving something of equal or higher value, you've broken no rules. If you was your own cache, you could remove whatever you wanted to, and leave nothing in the badges' place. A great reason for hiding your own caches

Hershal visited the first three and discovered the last? I have a rather nice science book where Neptune is listed as Hershal. I think he hoped it'd be called George-something, after the king. -

I'd guess at a drive wheel diameter of 6ft or so. Add some pi and I've a figure of 19ft approx. 125ish mph is 183ft per sec, or approx. 580rpm at the wheel. No idea if there's any form of gearing in a steam engine though, so this could be way off. -

I'm going to guess the +/- 100pcs means we're talking about a number in the low thousands (otherwise it'd be less than 1% variance) so will suggest 4,800 parts. And welcome back from Switzerland; I'm off there next month for a couple of hours -

(If you can't, it's 84.95% trads and 15.05% non-trads.) Now I'm curious. What's the breakdown of micros vs everything else?

Buying Geocaching Premium Membership

Some people have bought a membership gift card for $29.99 (approx £18) and 'given' it to themselves. Seems to work. -
