  1. I had one down here in Texas. It was suppose to be a simple cache, just off a nice paved path, in a nice park 5 minutes from the house. To make a long story short, on the 22nd try, I finally found what used to be it, that's right it has been muggled (and all the time up to this point other cachers are lgging this cache, saying this was too easy, or my 2 yr old son found this one, or homer the dog found this one, or fluffy the cat walked right up to this one). I wrote to the owner telling what I had found, they replied that I could go ahead and log a find. I refuse to, to this day. I feel like I have been cheated, here I put all this time in, just to find a piece of paper with someone else name on it saying that they had found the cache. As soon as the owner builds another I will make my 23rd trip and if found I will log the find at that time.
  2. I use a plain jane yeller Garmin E-Trex and have not had a problem with it so far. I usually get between 12' - 20' accuracy, which is plenty for geocaching. You can pick them up on e-bay (or your local store) for under $100 everyday. The problem I have with WAAS enabled GPS is it seems to drain the battery quickly. I also have a Garmin Rino 120 that I use for hunting, and I really prefer the yeller E-trex better (as far as the GPS goes), but I like the radio feature on the Rhino.
  3. Does anyone know a geocacher who goes by "bent35" ?? He (or her) picked up my TB "Have light, will travel" from the cache Da' bend in da bayou in Deer Park, Texas in Oct. of 2003 and still has not logged it. I have tried to e-mail him (or her) but with no sucess. I need to know if he (or her) still has this TB. Right now the TB is in a graveyard, & if this person still has the TB I would like to get it out of the graveyard & get it moving along. Please ask them to e-mail me, my e-mail addy is listed on my profile page. Thanks Ignats
  4. Thanks, that is a good idea. I'm going to close this one & open one in the correct region.

  6. The problem with that idea is that people would abuse it. They would buy a sellers GPS and then in a week or two start wishing they bought a fancier unit. Then here comes back my new unit or almost new unit scratched up or broken and me eating shipping charges. Stores do a 30 day money back thing because they charge retail price and try to recoup there loss in selling large quanities. An individual selling used equipment would find it hard to do this. When I sell anything, I do however try to make the buyer as happy as possible and if the unit is not exactly as stated I will take the unit back, or come to some other agreement with the buyer. This is true, I hadn't thought about it this way. I think for the most part people are honest in here & on the web in general, but sometimes you do get goofballs that are out to rip people off.
  7. Just a thought, have the buyer send the mney & put a 30 day money back guarentee, so if they don't like it they can send it back to you 7 get a refund. just plain business sense.
  8. You can pick these up on E-Bay for $159.00. Just make sure you get a receipt for the warranty. I have a Garmin Rino 120 & love it !!!
  9. For the most part I let my GPS take me as close as it can, then I start to search. I have the cheap yeller E-Trex, so in heavy cover it seems to go crazy. I also helped my brother set a cache, he is using a Magellan 315, I took my Garmin and I was showing to be about 70' away, We went ahead and set the cache to his GPS, and when cachers starting finding it they too said they were about 70' away. So which one do yuo believe. It's al to do with the weather conditions, what type of GPS the person is using (for example Magellan prety much does not even claim the 315 or the 320 anymore) to set the cache & what type of cover there is. 10. Well who is this clown ?? I have been thinking about doing some deals here, but I do not want to get taken for a ride........I need a name....the best way to put this clown out of business is to advertise who it is and what exactly they have done. I can pretty much read what this person has done, but who is it ?? "If you don't know where you're going, you'll wind up somewhere else" ......Yogi Berra
  11. I found bread crumbs to be my most reliable GPS

  17. You can talk your auto. all you want to, and to be truthful I do like them myself. But, in time each and every auto. will jam. That why I trust & love my Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag. The way I see it, if I'm going to shoot a intruder in my home, I don't want to just wound him, I want to blow him through my front door & put a B I G hole in him. Besides that there is nothing like shooting a large bore handgun. *** Long Live the NRA !! ***

  20. There was one down here that I must have looked for at least 8 times. It should have been a easy find. My GPS took me right to the spot each and evey time, but I couldn't seem to find it. The only way that I did finally find it, and this is the sad part, is after it had been muggled. I found where the cache had been hidden, and I found all of what remained of the contents. I e-mailed the owner, told them exactly where is was and they were nice enough to give me the find. The good news about this cache is it is near a baseball field, so I found lots of good baseballs !

There are 2 caches down here that are as this describes. One has a black top, so that when you look in you really can't see anything, unless you have a flashlight. When I went to find this one I looked in this pipe 3 times before I saw the hook.......then I felt stupid. but in the immortal words of Forest Gump "Stupid is as stupid does"
  22. Ooooooops, wrong Deer Park. Don't think Deer Park NY is in my neck of the woods
  23. quote:Originally posted by southdeltan:As far as I know, all MS state parks have a $2 fee. The fee is per vehicle (excluding buses and large vans) with up to 4 passengers. Each additional passenger is 50 cents more. The ones I frequent have had these fees for at least 15 years (and probably longer). I'm sure they all have had the fee for that long. I have no problem with it. I'm glad they do this, it allows the people to use the parks to be responsible for some of the money needed to maintain the park - instead of depending totally on taxes. It's really a small price to pay. southdeltan "Man can counterfeit everything except silence". - William Faulkner I agree with you completely, and I don't have a problem paying.
