  3. Merriam Webster defines bum as: bum[4,noun] 1 a: one who sponges off others and avoids work b: one who performs a function poorly ................................. 2: vagrant, tramp — on the bum : with no settled residence or means of support Doesn't seem derogatory to me at all. I think the description fits. Too bad the PC police have infiltrated every aspect of our lives. I have been called many things in my life and if I did not like it, I got over it. If I am a bum, then call me one. lol...this is great...someone says the word bum and all hell brakes loose..get a life guys!!! most ppl here are enjoying themselves and having fun in this great sport and pasttime..when ppl start taking it all too serious and reading into things that theres no need too..its time to get another hobby me thinks..my 2 penneth worth!!!...ps keep up the arguing its great entertainment for us non pc normal folks..lol
  4. wish ide thought of that..lol...same product m8...oh well youve endorsed it too ide say which can only be good!!.lol

  6. Those sound like neat little things, but I bought a pack of screen protectors at Best Buy for my GPS and they work just fine. You can get a pack of 20 for $10. They are all one size, but you can cut them to fit the screen. They won't protect against blunt or sharp damage, but they will keep the screen clean and free of scratches. I recently took a fall while caching. I ended up dragging the inside of one arm and the face of my GPSr down the side of a small oak tree. My arm was scratched up pretty badly. The screen of my GPSr took the same scraping. My invisibleSHIELD looked like the kind of glass you see on a shower door. I could barely see through it at all. The screen underneath was fine. Due to the "self-healing" properties of the invisibleSHIELD I could see through it just fine the next morning. I've put these things on every unit I've owned. I've done some really boneheaded things like leaving the unit on the hood of my truck and driving off. The invisibleSHIELD has saved the screen every time. Those "20 for $10" protectors are cheap - and you get exactly what you pay for. I would have completely ruined several units if I had been relying on the cheapies. To me, $10 for an invisibleSHIELD that saved a GPSMAP 76CS and later a GPSMAP 76CSx is a very small investement indeed. I have one of these things on my watch as well. I refuse to own any type of valuable equipment that goes into the field without putting one of these things on the screen. It's a no-brainer. BUY ONE or you may regret it heartily in the future. You never know what might happen. What??..they self heal??..you mean the scratches disapear??..im thinking of putting it a garmin case too..will getting it in and out of the case to change batteries make the invisible sheild peal off at all?? you know say rubbing on the case puting it in and out??

  12. Which cache was it? Out of interest. Hi jerryo ...no idea m8..ive searched this site and all i can find in honister pass is one of MEISMOOKs old archived ones....which is in a different location...this ones halfway along the pass on a scree??..if you can tell me which it is ide be very greatfull too..regards Hatts Hi Jerryo...found it at last heres the link http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...=y&numlogs= 1 question though?..because i found this by mistake before starting to geocache..can i still log it as a find..???
  13. Hi...i had this question a few days ago myself...i got the venture cx...its the same model as the legend cx but doesnt come with memorycard/cable/software....i had a 1gig micro sd...and it takes the same micro usb cable that most mp3 players and digital cameras use..and the software (well that was given)..ive had it 2 days now and found 6 caches...its very accurate...i cant see realy how an "h" model could of taken me any nearer?? realy..it has color screen and expandable memory and its cheeper than the legend (because of the accessories)..so i would choose that model anyday...regards Hattster

  19. Wow what a great view,,after seeing that picture..im sure wanting to go and see that myself..and maybe find a few caches whilst there too..lol ..im glad you had a great time too thnx for sharing your story with us
  20. Im pretty new to this and was thinking of placing my own cache soon ..but the more i read these great forums the more info i find out...where and who makes the rules...up until i joined this site i thought a wall was a great place to hide one,,but now i see your points that it could get damaged pretty quikly if too many people had a bad time finding it and ruined it looking!!
  21. And if they didn't give permission, what else have they ever done for us Aqueducts, sanitation, roads, ... Education... Ice Cream ; Fish and Chips... BLOODY GREY SQUIRELS TOO!!!..lol
  22. Hi guys....i found out through garmin that the venture cx and legend cx are identical units exept ones grey the others yellow...the only thing that differs is the accesories that comes with it in the box!!! the legend gets the usb cable, 64mb micro sd cards and mapsource disk!!...the venture cx is just the unit on its own....so ive dloaded the map source software..got a usb cable and a 1 gig micro sd and a case for it and orderd the venture cx...hopefully should be here tommorrow..and because i have a cable and software already i got it all including next day delivery for £182 pounds 15 pounds cheeper than the legend and i have a 1 gig card instead of a 64mb plus case..lol...i bought it from globalpositioningsystems.com as when i went looking round the shops today it was priced at 199 pounds just for the venture cx alone and the legend cx was between 250-299 pounds depending where i went..so i think ive got a good deal!!..although not as good as if i was living in the states..you guys get things well cheap over there!!!
  23. you guys are on the ball with replies..thnx.....here in the lakes the terrains mainly open..when in woods its mainly fir trees....i was in pensylvania (hope spelt right) a few years ago and our terrains nothing as deep..its nice to hear your opinion on the cx and it works under cover..ive been reading other posts about the "H" models problems with tracking properly and its made me think maybe the legend cx is gonna be ok for me??
  24. Hi...its the etrex legend cx or the etrex venture hc here in the uk i can buy either for about 200 pounds..alot dearer over here m8..thats why im being very choosey as this is a 1 time buy for the minute!! thnx again ive been told the legend comes with a card and a cable whereas the venture doesnt
  25. Hi...i live in the lakedistrict uk...im just wondering if ill need memory over the better antenna?...ive just read some posts saying its not upto much..have to be goin fast to track you??..if i went with the hc ide have fixed memory....and the cx ide have expandable memory..im really wanting to get all your opinions on which you all find more valuable...the memory from cx or better reception from the hc models...a hcx model is outta my budget,,please air your views.. by the way im using it for geocacheing only i think..but want a mapable one..something im not gonna want to upgrade to quikly..regards Hattster
