  1. I agree that the whitespacing is a problem all over the site and does not help to navigate on GC.com. In fact it makes GC.com a worse experience right now. I think GC.com is a website where people try to find and scan information quickly by browsing through a lot of data. This is true for the map searching options as well as lists of information (PQ site, Cache listings, logs, etc.) But the whitespaces rip information apart instead of helping to get an overview over things. Most netbooks and older screens have a 1024 x 600 (768) resolution. (I could imagine that a lot of geocachers use netbooks on their trips.) So some pages need a lot of scrolling due to the line space within texts. This makes the use of GC.com very uncomfortable, especially when you are on a trip using a touchpad. Moreover some sites are very strange now as the proportion of frames seem to be unregular - e.g. the friends page does not show two friends in a row anymore. There is just one and so a lot of scrolling is necessary when using 1024px width. But even on another screen with 1280px width there is a problem: As some friend profiles have more entries the sorting seems to have a problem: Sometimes there is one friend profile in a row if it's a long entry and sometimes two if both entries are short. This looks not very nice. On the map search page the list of caches at the right side of the screen seems to be out of place as it goes down much further than the map itself. Not very nice too. I could imagine a couple of solutions: 1. Let users choose the resolution and adjust GC.com accordingly. 2. On pages where users dig through a lot of information (list, listing, log, maps) remove the overflow of whitespace as it make getting information harder. On pages where a nice design and "web 2.0"-feeling is needed the pages could have more whitespace. E.g. on the starting page or general information pages. 3. If both is not possible I would favor a switch back to the old layout as it was much more useful to get information quickly. Thanks for listening. I am using firefox by the way - not sure if it's the same on IE.
  2. After some tests I noticed another problem that seems to be related to version 2.60: When I select a geocache as target on a map the pink line appears and I start moving towards the cache. The triangle moves at first. But sometimes the map suddenly freezes. So the blue triangle (my current position) does not move anymore. But the unit still processes the correct position internally when I take a look at current position values. Only the map does not work anymore. The problem appears from time to time and on different caches or map areas. Only a restart of the unit helps. Did anyone else see this problem?
  3. First of all I have to say that I like the new design and layout better. Thanks for the good work. Two things I really don't like: 1. The missing friends counter. I read the note by Groundspeak and I understood that the counter did not work properly sometimes. But it was okay for me (!) when the number wasn't exactly correct down to one or two caches. I just wanted to get a quick glance at what my friends were doing over the weekend. In the current state the friends page is pretty much useless. So I would prefer a slightly wrong counter over "none-counter-at-all" Please bring it back soon. 2. As already stated the refresh of the page after decrypting is a step back in usability as the top of the page is shown after the refresh. So I have to scroll down again which is not "state-of-the-art" regarding website usability. As I use(d) these features very often the the missing features make GC harder to use for me. I am not a programmer but it's hard to understand why a step backwards was necessary instead of taking more time and to do it right. To me it's a strange product strategy. In general I appreciate the good work of GC though. And I liked that they replied to the comments in the forum pretty quickly. Thanks!
  4. N95-1 with SmartGPX (freeware) and Geocaching Navigator (free as well but needs data rate plan to get cache information - with UMTS in Germany it works fine). If someone wants to use offline maps you can use MGMaps (freeware) and works great.
