  1. We just got a ETrex Vista from REI and had great success and wonderful CS. I scoped out Amazon in the process too and they offer the rebate as well. We were looking for instant gratification which is why we went with REI. If you are shipping it directly to him Amazon would probably be a good bet. BTW. Thank you to your son for being over there!
  2. Attention! Dead Horse Being Beaten Here! Contact PETA! (kidding) Ok, I have been on several message boards including one with mostly women getting married. YIKES! That was brutal. This is just plain silly. There are people out there that don't like homsexuals. It may not be right in may peoples opinions but, it is a fact. Looks like we have a few of those people on the boards. Ok, whatever. I am going to naturally come to the conclusion that they are not people I really want to listen to. So I will most likely not read their threads. That's my right. I am pretty convinced that I am not going to change all people's minds to agree with my opinions (although I think it would be a really good idea; snicker, snicker, snicker) so the only reason I am posting is because I am tired of this topic being at the top all the time (yes I realize I am contributing to the 'topness' at this moment). We all know by now who here (more than one) has a problem with homosexuals. Need we continue to hammer that point home? There are lots of other "Disgusting, Ghastly and Frightening" things we can talk about here. We've talked this one to death, pointed virtual fingers and voiced our opnions. Isn't that enough?
  3. Guess what! This "Carla" person's e-mail address is not working. I spent a good 10 minutes on an eloquent e-mail only to have it returned to me. Hmmmm....
  4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. If I found actual trash, gum wrappers, half a Balance bar etc, I'd probably clean it up myself and be glad it wasn't left somewhere else in on the trail. If I found a silly toy I'd probably think about the person who left it there. Maybe it was an adult with a Happy Meal toy collection (I had one in college). Anyway, when ever a person leaves something behind it's like they are leaving a part of themself behind. No matter how silly seeming the toy or trinket is, SOMETHING made them leave it behind or trade it out. I had no clue there were people doing this for more than the fun of finding the cache... Silly me...
  5. I guess that explains why there are not a lot of caches in the area I was looking on the Cape. While people DO live there year round, there are more people that visit. I understand the logic behind this 'rule' but I still think it is a bummer for people that connect with a special place and would never do anything to disturb it. I guess a good alternative would be to know someone in the area that does go geocashing and have them place it with me so there is someone who can check on it more frequently. Guess I'll work on that.
  6. Well I guess I will take that 'to do' item off my list. I travel to Cape Cod at least once a year since I was about 2 years old. I really wanted to leave a cache there this summer (provided I felt I could find a good spot being new to this and all). I really think it's a shame I will not be able to do this now. I would think that the understanding would be that most geocachers would not just go off and forget about their cache and let it erode to trash. Also, if I so chose to do a virtual cache the site I would pick would not be one that would be moved or taken away completely. I really am not that stupid.
