  1. My favorite Geocaching shirt has two velcro breast pockets. Palm IIIxe fits in one nicely.
  2. I don't think you meant this the way it sounded, but it seems you are lumping all these activities together with being a homosexual. I truly doubt that is the case. That being said, if these areas are just cruising sites I would have no problem at all visiting them. First because gay men typically mind their own business. Second, gay men are typically nonviolent. If there was sexual activity going on it should be turned in. No one has to put up with that from homosexuals or heterosexuals. If there is drug use going on that should also be reported. No one group should have exclusive use of a public park. It is there for everyone to enjoy. There is a park near where I live that is a known gay cruising spot. I have been here for other activities and in no way felt threatened, nor was I followed or watched. I tend to worry more about the heterosexual teenagers than I do homosexual men. This is just my opinion, I am not trying to flame anyone or start trouble. A few cachers in the Southern suburbs of Chicago have been followed into the woods and propositioned. One of the Forest Preserves is now called Brokeback Woods and it will fit a few others. I was propositioned in a restroom in one once. I have been followed and propositioned a couple times when I was younger. One guy offered me money for sex, I offered to knock his teeth out for free. I don't have a problem with them if they live that lifestyle, I just don't want them around me. I'm a Lesbian trapped in a man's body, so I have no use for a man!
  3. There's a few Forest Preserves near Chicago that have this problem. I was even propositioned in one once. I told the guy I wasn't interested and he left me alone. Might not be a bad idea to carry some pepper spray just in case.
  4. I do some woodworking and have left items I make. Travel Bug TBQ480 is a bottlestopper I made.
  5. 5. Gets me out of the house for exercise. 4. Fresh Air? Not around Chicago! 3. High Tech, back to Nature. 2. Gas is too expensive to take the boat out. 1. Beats the heck out of Golf!!!
  6. I'm confused! Where does it say that the event will be held in 2009? Does it have something to do with the fact that Trektek2002 shows up every three years? A person with one find is going to hold an "extremly large gathering for all who wish to attend." I'm pretty sure I have to do my laundry and wash my Jeep that weekend, sorry.
  7. I agree with you 100%! The president of the company I work for is a 40-something female with a Masters in Art from Notre Dame. She can hang drywall and cabinets, install minor electrical work and paint a beautiful portrait. I taught her how to use a scrollsaw and a wood lathe. She'll take on projects herself that the guys in the plant are afraid (or too lazy) to do. And to top it all off...She's BLONDE! Is she single?? Yep!
  8. Now I'm curious. If they're aware but they don't sponsor it <here comes the question> ... then they tolerate them? If so, that's marketing genius! It's called FREE International advertising.
  9. Didn't happen to have tacos for dinner that night did you? Taco spelled backwards is o cat, as in no more cat!
  10. It was a "Get out of Jail Free" card but it looks like you already have one! You must be very suspicious looking cacher.

    Glbt?

But you invited them to join OKIC!
  12. I know what my name is...Got it written on my underwear and socks so I don't forget it!
  13. Black ink cartridge for Epson Printer - $35.00 Ream of paper - $4.00 Keeping track of printed sheets - Unknown amount of frustration. Palm IIIxe - $25.00 on E-Bay Premium Membership - $30.00/year Cachemate - $8.00 GSAK - $20.00 Going Paperless - PRICELESS EasyGPS doesn't load the cache name into the GPSr, GSAK does. You can use cachemate free, but it will only allow 10 caches on your PDA. You can use GSAK free for 21 days, then you get the nag screen. Pocket Queries will let you load the whole cache page including logs. I just went paperless this past week and it made a HUGE difference today.
  14. Are you using Pocket Queries or just downloading from GC.com? I might be wrong, but if you are clicking the download button on GC.com, you are getting the files in .loc instead of .GPX. You want the .GPX files to show all info.
  15. Use the new plastic ones with the screw on lid. The metal ones will rust too soon.
  16. Hmmmm, Geocaching, endorsed by the U.S. Navy. New recruitiing ads: Want to increase your international Geocache finds? Join the Navy! U.S.N. Geocachers- We use multi-million dollar satellites and multi-million dollar ships to find Tupperware around the world.

  18. If you cook morels wrong, they can taste like Merrills!
  19. Sauteed Tupperware just doesn't taste the same. Adrenalynn, I was living in Fair Oaks when we had our mushroom adventure.
  20. For me to go 50 miles out from my zipcode, I had to go through 98 pages of caches. I then selected the farthest cache West and clicked on "Find all nearby caches". I went through 118 pages to find the farthest one West. That put me out 100 miles. There was alot of duplication since it showed caches that I was passing. That's the hard way to get out 100 miles or more. The easy way is to get the zipcode of the area you want to go to and use that as your starting point. Check your phone book or usps.com for zipcodes.
  21. I just went paperless today. Got a used Palm IIIxe on E-Bay for $25.00, got GSAK and Cachemate tthis evening and set everything up. I even did 2 PQ's and had results within 5 minutes after submitting them. When I unzipped the files, they had Swiss flags on them and went right to GSAK. The only problem I ran into was that the Palm has taken over com1, so I had to hook the GPSr to com2. I had been just switching cables in the past. I think I saved a few trees from becoming paper, but my woodworking tools still need to be fed!
  22. My dad THOUGHT he knew about mushrooms. When we lived in California, he took the family into the mountains and we loaded the trunk of the car with fresh mushrooms. When we got home, a neighbor told us they were all poisonous. I've found morels while camping in the Spring in Central Indiana. Sauteed in butter....I just may go camping next month!
  23. Stop by this site for the Chicago area: http://www.gonil.org/ That the Geocachers Of Northeast Illinois site, you may find a guide there.
  24. NEVER get between the mother and her kids!!!
  25. Like JohnnyVegas, I'm a single male, mid 50's and I usually cache alone. I've gotten some strange looks from the moms when I walk near a play area, so I usually try to avoid them. My concern is when I go to the Brokeback Forest preserves around here and guys follow me! Maybe I can rent a wife and kids for a day and solve both problems.
