  1. If I create a regular pocket query, when I get to the section Show me [500] caches of, by default Any Type is selected. If I then click on the checkbox for, say, Traditional Cache, the radio button for Any Type is automatically deselected and the button for Selected Types is chosen. This works great for me, if I am selecting various types of caches to include, then i do not want to Any Types button chosen. However, when I create a pocket query along a route, the same functionality is not in place. I often click on just those types of caches I would like to include, but I forget to click on the Selected Types button, and I end up getting ALL types because the Any Type button is still selected! I would like to see the same functionality when creating a query along a route as there is for the regular queries. Having them different often causes me to get fewer of the caches I want. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks - that works great!
  3. I did a search, and yes, this topic came up last November. But nothing came of it then, so I'm starting a new topic. It would be so nice to have the additional waypoints included one of the maps. When doing a complex multi for which the waypoints are already given (as opposed to those where the waypoints need to be calculated from the previous one), it would be great to be able to see all of them on one map, instead of having to click on each one individually. For example, I am thinking of this cache, which has 10 far-flung waypoints. Wouldn't it be great to be able to see exactly where they all are in relation to each other? Thanks for listening!
  4. Mine finally came at around 8pm. Too late however, I had to pick up my daughter at the airport at 5:30...
  5. Usually when I run a pq I get it within seconds. I just set up 2 pq's and it's been a few minutes and nothing. I know I shouldn't wait for the last minute, but I guess I got spoiled with the instant return I always got! Now I'll have to print out a bunch of pages because I need to get going now! Arggh!

    TB log bug?

I found a geocoin today, and when I logged it I forgot to select "retrieved from...." from the pull-down menu, I didn't select anything. When I hit the submit button, nothing happened. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have an error message when people do this?
  7. Yay! Thanks Gary and Jane, that works perfectly! Also, I love your avatar pic. Very pretty.
  8. I had been using two scripts: one to show thumbnails of photos on logs instead of links, and one that decrypted the hint without having to reload the page. Have these two scripts been updated yet? Also, is there a script in the works to get rid of all the whitespace on pages that list caches, like my nearest caches page? I hate the new layout and would love a script like that! Thanks for all the writers of GM scripts for making my caching experience more pleasant!
  9. Having started this thread, I feel a little proprietary towards it! I have to say that I do not at all agree with the foregoing. A real politician would never give a flat out NO, and I appreciate that Groundspeak and its lackeys are willing to give a straight answer. I really don't think Nate was being purposely misleading in 2008 just to shut us all up. Things change, circumstances change, and sometimes policies have to change. While I would have liked to see the ability to search for archived caches return, I understand the reasons why this will not happen.
  10. I have this problem too, actually I started a topic many months ago about it. Raine, even if it is my system that is rendering the graphics slowly, it would still be a great improvement if we could pan around and only refresh the caches when we wanted to. Right now it is better than it used to be, in that if I pan quickly enough it doesn't refresh the caches, but I'd still love it if the user had more control. Thanks!
  11. Oh, well, that's understandable. Thanks for taking the time to answer, though - I really do appreciate all the work that goes into making this such a great website!
  12. Remember, I 'm not asking for pros and cons in this thread. That's been done to death. I just want to know whether TPTB will ever bring this back!
  13. Hmm, maybe Ill take my cue from flask and just occasionally politely ask. Remember, I'm not demanding that the feature be returned. I'm just asking IF it will ever be returned. Pretty please?

    i still want it

Darn! So there's a solution? I was so enjoying reading flask's ever-so-polite remonstrances!
  15. Yeah, it's degenerating into another pro/con thread. I still am hoping someone (OpinioNate? Raine?) will at least comment on whether this is ever likely to return.
  16. Bump. I was on vacation, came back and still no response. What's the deal?
  17. Back in January of 2008, in a long discussion about the ability to search for archived caches, OpinioNate wrote the following: I DO NOT mean for this thread to turn into a pro/con argument. I would just like to know if this feature will actually ever be reinstated. The quote by OpinioNate is the last word ever heard from Groundspeak on the topic. If they have decided not to have this feature, I will be disappointed, but I'll stop hopefully looking for it with each new release. Thanks!
  18. The New York Times magazine section has an article about geocaching today. Geocaching is described as "a pleasant avocation largely for good kids, moms, and retirees." There is an unfortunate reference to buried treasure. I looked in the forums to see if it's been mentioned, but haven't seen anything yet.
  19. I really like the ability to enter an address on the google geocaching maps and see what caches are nearby. What would make that ability even better would be to have a pushpin or something marking the exact location of the address I entered. I figure that the address ends up being in the dead center of the map, but by seeing the actual spot I could see exactly where I'll be going, AND exactly where all the nearby caches are! That would be great!
  20. Ooh, I get the oldest Palm award? What's that worth, anyhow? I did get a serial-usb connector when my old laptop died. So I'm still plugging away with my antique Palm!
  21. Just another suggestion, I use a REALLY old Palm: the IIIxe. I can get these on ebay for about $10 - $15 including shipping, and I always keep an extra or two lying around for those times when I lose it or leave it somewhere. Just put the new one in the sync cradle and I'm good to go. Just another suggestion!
  22. So I'm coming up on a milestone, 2k caches. When I look at the number next to my name, it reads 1995. But when I look at the page of geocaches I have found, it reads 1994. I'm guessing it's because I once found a moving cache twice. So, how do I count down to 2k? Is it the total number of finds, or the total number of caches? I want opinions, and I'm sure I'll get some!
  23. If I go to my account, there is a menu of things at the top of the page, including Travel Bugs (Mine). If I click on the Travel Bugs link (not the Mine link), I go to a page called Travel Bug details. That page has a gray square at the upper right with two links: List TBs that you own or List TB's that you have found. The TB's that you have found link brings up a page that does, I think, what you are looking for: a list off all TB's that have passed through my hands. I can sort them by Name, Last Log Date, or distance. Hope that helps!
  24. My signature pin seemed appropriate for this topic!
  25. You can use the same format for the WAP interface: just input your coordinates as DD MM.MMM - make sure you put a space between the degrees and the minutes and it will work! I LOVE the WAP interface - the feature I would really love to see would be the ability to filter out my finds. But in any case, I use the WAP interface a lot!
