  1. Guess who owns the nearest cache to the third reindeer!
  2. I did get the mail, now that you mention it, I just must have deleted without reading....my mistake! Hope that new cache has got good swag!
  3. Well done Ian on the Reindeer! Sneaky though to only tell us about the competition AFTER you find it!
  4. I suppose that there are not enough cachers in SA for a "Mega Event".
  5. It looks to be in a area of bush, quite near to a dirt road.....come on Bloem cachers, how about a commemorative cache? (Didn't I start a thread on first to hide..?) Finally worked out my centoid. Just about all my finds are on the peninsula, or in Hermanus, but just a few other cache finds have pulled my centroid out to the mountains near Tulbach. Nearest cache is a few kms away.
  6. Lottery tickets. Imagine finding a micro, not expecting any swag, and ending up winning money! I have a TB that carries lottery tickets too. Had a modest win of $25 the other day...not a bad gift from a TB!
  7. Bumped onto this post on the international forums. If you install this script into Firefox you can make logs cool by..... changing font styles and colours easily Adding links to your logs easily Adding cool smileys easily I found this script a day late after struggling for about an hour to add a link to a log using UUB codes (which I have absolutely no clue about, but I did get the link into the log in the end!) If you click on the links on the left of this page, you will find other Geocaching add ons for Firefox Hope to see more colourful logs....
  8. We had a fab time there! There is a restaurant low down in the middle of Riomaggiore that is (was?) wonderful! You WILL enjoy yourself!
  9. CnC made a suggestion to me: How about using this (or another) thread to notify all cachers in the W/Cape of intended walks or unofficial get togethers. Refer all new/ interested cachers to this thread (or another "walking in the Western Cape" or "Going cacahing, want to come along? " thread) to prevent the person wanting others to come along on a walk from having them to email everyone individually via the GC website profiles. (For those who don't know) Threads can be "Tracked" by clicking Options (top right of 1st post) > Track this topic > and them choose how often you want to be notified about new posts on the thread. I think its a good idea? Let me know what you think. I think 2 threads, one for general discussion of stuff in the w/cape, and another specifically for walks & get togethers.
  10. Is there anywhere you could post that file (presumably in GSAK format) online for others to shnaffel......with much gratitude! That feels like I am asking way too much....ignore at will!
  11. So Tom, want to show me sometime and place a cache there?
  12. I saw this picture in the gallery of Sentinel View. Does anyone know where these caves are and if there is a cache there? Would love to visit them.
  13. Picking up on Noddy's Idea, how about a Chatbox for the Western Cape?
  14. That if your cache has over 50 finds and the gallery is empty you should change your hiding tactics.
  15. You can walk up a mountain in your work clothes (during a lunch break)
  16. A Puff Adder. Cytotoxic. Stand on it and it will put you in hospital for three months. Seen on the way up to a cache.
  17. Yes, but you found the location..... We all do what we feel is right.....
  18. So in the end.... Cache contents all dried out, photos and notes all laminated to help them last, Ziploc bags for everything, swag added. Walked up the mountain, found the hiding place (fitted the description on the page perfectly and had tell tail "rock stack") replaced cache.........and then signed the log as a find! The first cache I have maintained before I found it! Anyone else done similar?
  19. 2 things: Dumb question number 1: When creating the PQ to put into GSAC, how do you get a large radius....it defaults to 750km when I try? How about a cache at the centroid of the 3000 caches, to commemorate the 3000 cache mark. Where would that be? (Feels like a Blackjack Bailey type question that....)
  20. Perhaps not a bad idea, to "cut ones teeth" locally. Still think it would be worth the organizing to do the real McCoy though. Of your list in SA: Kimberly hole not "natural" Tugela falls? (2nd highest in the world)
