Hi
I am a bit new to Geocoins, but was thinking of having some commissioned to celebrate 10 years of caching in SA.
Looks like there will be an event cache in the cape, with quite a few of the owners of some of the oldest caches in the country attending. I was hoping to present a few coins to those who started the sport off.
I need help with ideas, designs, and how to best go about commissioning the coins.
Fish Eagle has given a few helpful pointers and says that if I want to allow others to market the coin commercially that a round coin is to be avoided. He thinks something with an odd shape/moving part/luminous...etc sells better.
Would love any help that can be offered and am happy to make this a collective project to allow others to benefit.

GuyHarwood has been caching since 2001 in the Western Cape.
He has replied and will attend too.

Peter Schlotz has just confirmed he will attend. Still working on Guy Harwood and RaymondE.

Have already put him on the list of intended VIPs.

I feel I killed my own book logs. As a cache owner I appreciate that the book log often reflects the thoughts of the cache differently to the online logs, but I now try take up as little space as possible, to prevent need for rapid replacement of logbooks. My online logs are often very wordy, I would hate to take up the whole book!
I think I would still hide caches....but the current system is way better. I get great joy from the emails coming through. Especially so when someone has actually put a weeny bit of effort into the log.

Here's one from King's Blockhouse

Will try get Peter, and maybe Raymond E too.

Sent off an email to Prof Merry. He replied that he thought it a good idea and he, and co-placer will probably attend an EC ....but was more interested in a glass of bubbly at the cache! This too can be arranged!

Hi all
I have been thinking that we should have a couple of event caches to celebrate 10 years of caching in SA.
I went so far as to ask Groundspeak to allow us to use the 10 year icon, but that was not possible as it has been Grandfathered.
I am writing of to a few of the "Founding Members" in the Western Cape seeing if I cant persuade them to come to a WC event cache as "Guests of Honor".
Ideas?...
Jors, want to come to an EC near Sentinel View, the oldest active cache in the country, mid Jan 2011?

Now that the world cup is behind us (sniff..) how about converting this thread to a showcase of some of your world cup photos? I know its not very PC to hijack a thread. Just a thought.....

Any cache owners noticed foreign finders?

I thought it was the name for chatting up someone on on an airplane....

Any predictions?
I STILL have no idea!
Any of the semi finalists are OK with me..............except Uruguay!

Congrats Pooks on 600!

Although I haven't cached there, nor know of any caches there, it looks like Wondergat to me, a sinkhole, where many moons ago I did a deep diving scuba course.

Off topic: Anyone tried the traffic info now available for Garmin?

Cape St Francis. Canal Challenge cache.
Yup!
A terrain 5 cache which hopefully will be a bit of a fun challenge to finders. Are you up for the challenge iNokia?
-
How about you Doc?
OK, but coming from a team with over 2000 finds......
Where is this?
GZ for the cache can be seen in the photo.

yeah, come on, why havent more people found this cache recently, you don't need to jump to find the cache!
I am dying to do it! I hear it is quite dangerous in the wet?
Every time I look for someone to do it with me they insist I do the whole circuit. That means many hours away from the family....
Springtime, I promise!
Anyone up for it?
