  1. Thanks for the quick response!! I will consider other ways for verifying completion of the challenge. Best always, -BT
  2. Are there any rules against asking another user for a copy of his/her 'My Finds' query to confirm their completion of a challenge cache? I've been pondering an idea for a challenge cache that would require me needing to have a copy of a finisher's 'My Finds' query to confirm their completion of the challenge. Another geocacher has volunteered to create a program that would glean the necessary finds from a user's 'My Finds' query and confirm the user's completion of the challenge. Considering the number of caches required to complete this challenge, a bookmark list would not be useful as a confirmation list for this particular challenge. Any thoughts or does anyone know of other threads here in the forums that may be helpful RE this topic? -BT
  3. I believe there is at least one instance where a CO is good to log his/her own caches and that is in the instance of a challenge cache (IE: DeLorme or County Challenges). The logistics of completing a challenge cache pretty much, at least in my mind, levels the playing field for all, with the logging of the final cache being a proprotionately small part of completing the overall entire challenge. So I see no problem in a CO logging a smiley, at least for challenge caches.
  4. beejay&esskay: Thanks for the info! Glad all is back to normal for the next time I run the my finds query. Matkatamib@: Way to go... Congrats on your 5000 milestone!!! --BT
  5. I too ran my "My Finds" query last night (3/6/10). Got the query back almost instantaneously but when I loaded it into GSAK it shows that I've never made a find on ANY of the caches in the file. Weird thing is its a perfect list of all the 2649 caches I've found to date, there's just no found info tagged into the caches in the query. This also gave me problems with trying to update mygeocachingprofile.com, etc since the data isn't tagged with "Found" the queries don't run correctly to update the stats. Don't suppose there's any way I could request another copy of "my finds" to see if the problem is now fixed?! Otherwise, its gonna be another 7 days before I can attempt to generate a corrected my finds query.
  6. Hi, I too have been getting the same error message over the last few days when trying to generate the find caches along a route query... "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.geocaching.com/pocket/urquery.a...rguid=(followed by a series of alphanumerics). Operation Aborted" I have a trip planned from Houston to Biloxi in a day so am scrambling to get some trip lists generated. I too would appreciate anyone's comments as to what the problem may be either on my end or geocaching.com's?! Up through this past weekend I've had no probs with pocket queries and haven't changed any settings in IE. Thanks, Broken Trowel Tucson, AZ
  7. Yo Bloencustoms, While looking for some technical info my search turned up this post so I thought I would chime in to introduce myself and say howdy to everyone out there. I'm originally from west-central Louisiana and still come back home about once a month. Mostly I spend my time out west in Arizona/So Cal. or visiting friends down in SW Houston. My job gives me the opportunity to run the I-10 corridor nearly non-stop and since getting into Geocaching I now have an activity to play around with while on those loooong east-to-west-to-east crossings. I see you're in the Crescent City. I'd like to get down there and do some urban GCing sometime in the future. Later dude, Broken Trowel
  8. Basemaps for Explorists (and explorist-specific service codes...they do follow the Meridian codes closely) are available here. My explorist 400 died yesterday morning of the same issues that most other folks on here have complained about--the NAND thing and lost basemaps. I got it up and running but without a basemap. I WANTED TO MENTION THAT WHEN I WENT TO DOWNLOAD THE BASEMAP THE ABOVE PAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. Unless you know of another spot on the web to get this file I would proceed with caution as you'll need to reload your basemap to get the GPS working again. It isn't packed with your software and isn't available at Magellan's web site. Magellan's outsourced tech support chastised me for the 95 move and claimed I voided the warranty, which I guess I did, but then again their machine left me stranded, so... They later called back to say they would fix it under warranty but unfortunately I had to hang up on them to reach this point.
