  1. For Sale, a nearly new Magellan Explorist 710. It been used for less then two hours total. Asking $425 shipped. Unit works fine, but I've decided touch screens are not for me. Thanks!
  2. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telnet Short version: Not a good plan. No angst or snarkeyness implied.
  3. Fink has it closest to what I've always heard. (my be closer to Braize-er though) How about Madrid, NY
  4. I guess you could do the same thing for a male (or female) only cache. It'd probably be a bit extreme.....
  5. I like cemetary caches, if properly done. (Not near any actual graves, preferably in a non-active graveyard, etc.) In fact, I've hidden one myself: GCPQNC It seems to be pretty popular, and I'm starting to think that placing a cache there and having people visit has improved the condition of the site considerably. Before I placed the cache, the cemetary was almost totally abandoned. The town dpw came and mowed every 4 or 5 years (maybe) I found out about it by helping a local Scout on his Eagle project (cleaning up his and several other small abandoned sites) I placed a cache there slightly after this. Now that people are visiting, the site has been mowed twice already this year. Two graves from Revolutionary soldiers have also now been marked. It've really been very pleasing to see this area, so long left to decay, be recognized as a spot worth saving, due, at least I hope in part, to my cache. (Though I'm sure that's not the whole story.) Some pictures taken by a cacher recently visiting the site: <br>
  6. Don't know if you were responding to me or not. I was just daydreaming, and a ammo can was the cache container type that I thought of as the most funny.
  7. These forums come in second for me. (even though I'm generally just a silly lurker). forums.vwvortex.com is number one in my book! Disclaimer: I am in no way financially or personally affilated to the owners and/or operators of vwvortex.
  8. Heh, I just got a vision like the old bugs bunny cartoons with the carrots disappearing down their holes with a little *poof* and small cloud of dust. The movie script would be as follows: *slow zoom on ammo can sitting peacefully on the forest floor* *highpitched rodent type squeaking* *can suddenly vanished into the ground with a small puff of dirt, and a clunk* *rodent pokes head out of hole, looks around, shrugs, and goes back to work* *fade to black*
  9. I think what has always bothered me most about this incident was not that Treadwell got himself killed. It's that he brought his girlfriend out there and got her killed. and that's all I have to say about that.
  10. Funny..I was on a cache hunt a while back. Didn't find the cache, but right near where it should have been was a perfectly decapitated garden gnome. Kind of creepy....
  11. The only time I'd consider logging my own find is if, on a mainenance trip, I find the cache to be missing, but happen to find it nearby. (i.e. someone moved it.) It'd have to be a pretty significant move though. (not just a different knothole in the same tree.)
  12. PalmT2 connected directly to garmin etrex. Cachemate Mapping software on palm (delorme) GSAK on PC.
  13. heh..not so sold out. It worked out that buying 250 coins was the better bet. 50 of them are mine. ..so if you want some more..you can order them from cointracking.com
  14. mohr11 Bjornian Dorkfish are now also on my list! 3 left!
  15. ok, I've decided to only sell 100 coins. There will actually be more than that made, (150?) but the rest are for me for trading/caches. That means that it's basically sold out on coin tracking. Thee will be a *few* leftovers caused by people who are on the list to trade, not buy. I'll have the exact leftover number in a little while....stay tuned.
  16. yeah, that's just going to be the base rate for US shipping of one or two coins.
  17. ok, details starting to come in. Coin will be 1.5" front will be 3-D. Still not quite sure on total number (100, 150, or 200) Back will be at least one color. I'd like to split the back colors across the three colors the state uses on trail markers (blue, red, yellow). Coins should be less then $6 plus $1 shipping. (This depends a bit on how many total I end up ordering.
  18. I was thinking manhole covers could be the next trackable coin...it'd be awesome... "I'll trade you a Con-Ed for 2 Westchester sewer districts."
  19. QUOTE Diameter: 1" blink.gif Like I said...details not known yet. I'd make it dinner plate sized if I could keep the cost down Also: BigGeeks is automatically in for 2 coins for helping with the artwork!
  20. oops..forgot to add. I'm going to buy a few (20 or so) for my self (trading). If you really detest buying, add a comment that you'd rather trade to the cointracking site. Also, payment will be through paypal. Thanks!
  21. Well, I really wanted to foot the bill for this on my own, but that's not going to be possible. So I figuered selling is better than no coin at all.... Here's my preliminary design as sent: Front: Back: Metal/details are not quite known yet (will be in a few days) Slight changes to the design are possible. I will be selling these coins at cost..no profits for me! If you're interested in a coin..please go to cointracking and add yourself to the list. Once I have the detials, I'll post them and send invoices to the people on the list. I'm going to have an absolute max of 200 coins made. (and possibly less) NO MORE THAN 5 COINS /person please! Try and buy more than 5 = no coins for you! Also, no orders here! Thanks! Update! 3 extra coins need buyers! Add your request here!
  22. Got mine today! Ready for release! Thanks.
  23. Booo..that's no good. Cheating is bad. Although it would save me a few emails per puzzle for verification that I solved it right and/or desperate pleas for an additional clue. (I'm looking at you GCNYAB )
  24. Wow! I likes it! I'll wait al ittle bit and see if anyone has any other comments/contributions.
