  1. A new cache of mine was recently muggled. First, it was just cleaned out of all contents and the container was left in place. The next time i went to check it, the whole container was gone. I feel angry, disappointed, and other negative emotions right now. Browsed the forums to see if there was a thread for cache owners who have had to deal with muggling before, but didn't find one. If this thread is a first, share your experiences about your caches getting muggled, in a sort of support group manner. It's a frustrating experience, but I think that if there is discussion on it, it might make us feel better.
  2. In one very difficult cache, i found a pocket knife and an untouched box of matches. I removed them.
  3. I just got Pokemon Go yesterday too! So psyched! Sometimes they appear in your house too. I checked the game this morning and there was a Shellder in my bed! Then i got a notification of a pokemon nearby outside. I rushed outside barefoot and caught a Squirtle outside of my neighbor's house! There's no PvP yet, but it's more than likely in the works. I don't know how my phone battery is going to survive both geocaching and Pokemon Go. Just bought a backup battery yesterday. I hope that's going to be enough!
  4. I'm doing research for an article that I plan to write about GPS units. Specifically, I am looking for feedback from individuals who have experience using both phone gps and separate gps units. Questions I'd like answers to include: What are the pros and cons of each? How sharply does tree cover affect each gps type? Price range comparison? Amount of gps "bouncing" (you get to GZ and the gps bounces the point elsewhere) If this subject has been covered elsewhere, could you please provide a link? Thank you very much in advance!
  5. Thank you all for your advice on this subject! I only have one cache of my own, but I will definitely hold onto the logs when the time comes to change them up. THANKS!
  6. This is a question that has been poking at the back of my head for a while. What do you do with an old, filled-up, but not destroyed log? I mean logs that haven't been soaked or rendered unusable, just full of signatures. Do you keep them for the memories or just throw them out? Seems a shame to just chuck them.
  7. A "nano" IS a in the micro category. This has been discussed to death, but there really is no disputing the fact that even the guidelines explicitly state that nanos are included in that size category. D'oh! I feel stupid now! I thought for sure that when a CO is setting up the page for their cache, they could select "nano" from the list. I scoured the site. You are right and I am wrong; "micro" is the smallest size selectable. I apologize.
  8. "It says that I'm standing RIGHT ON TOP OF IT!" --- Me right before the GPS usually starts bouncing around like crazy
  9. I love finding signature swag in caches. After finding the sig-swag of FastasPie & Oli&Marti, I decided to make my own. The first ones were "moon swag", a crochet swatch of a crescent moon on a navy blue background. When that yarn ran out, I wanted something that was suited to me. Foxes are my favorite animals, so I found a pattern for a fox face on Pinterest and haven't looked back! If you've found one, I hope you liked it!
  10. Nano caches listed as micros. If it's only as big as my pinky tip, it is not a micro! When, despite the rules, people leave food in the cache.
