I completely agree! Give the user the option to use either based on their needs at the time.

Just got mine from Cabelas this week and mine does it was well... hopefully there will be a fix. I like the beep, maybe even a SMALL message, but agree that using the whole screen is more of an annoyance than anything else.

Well... got mine yesterday... loaded it up with GSAK and grabbed my first cache with it over my lunch break today... what a difference from my old coal powered eTrex Legand !!!!! (OK.. I know.. it's old technology, but it's served me well for about 8 years, including one year in Afghanistan!!!!)... I have a feeling I'm really gonna get spoiled with this upgrade!!!!!! OK.. never mind.. I see now that it's Software ver 4.40 and GPS software ver 4.52.. guess I was looking at the wrong line. Just got mine 3 days ago and even though 4.40 came from the factory there are still some software bugs in ver. 4.40. I have reported these to Garnin and they say they are checking into it. No wirless communication after 1st successful wireless transfer. When changing waypt. symbol both old symbol and new symbol are both displayed on top of each other for a while; old symbol will go away instantly if you turn unit off and back on. If you delete a waypoint it's symbol will still appear on map page screen, even though it is no longer in the waypt. manager's list, turn unit off and back on and is no longer on map page screen. I can understand the bugs if you want to try out a Beta version, but to ship a unit with bugs seems pretty much unacceptable. Oh well.. guess we'll wait unti they get 4.45 stable and upgrade it then. OK.. maybe I'm missing something here. Just got my new 450 in the mail today and it's loaded with version 4.52 Am I looking at the wrong thing?? Garmin updater says I have the most current version (and I don't think they would send out new units with a beta version). Just wondering out loud here... anyone????

When I ordered mine on the evening of the 24th the site said deliver on 4/1/11. I just checked the order status and said it was left on my porch at noon today.. can't wait to get home from work and check it out! Hopefully yours will be sooner too!!!!!

I did notice a few days before I ordered that the web site had it listed as backordered... I shyed away from ordering for that reason but now wish I'd ordered sooner.. I'd be playing now!!! In any case.. mine should be here Monday!

I've been wanting to move to a unit that supports paperless caching for quite a while and finally decided on the Oregon 450 a few weeks ago.
