    Garmin GPSmap 60CSx - Problems with Compass

    My Colorado 300 does the same thing some times!

     

    The compass either spins all over the place or simply points to the wrong direction!

     

    I have the latest software installed, recalibrated the compass several times, made sure the NiMH batteries are fully charged, etc.. yet the problem seems to persist more or less.

     

    What I did to solve this issue for now is to write down the cache coordinates on paper then look at the field with the coordinates in the compass view and try to match the 2!

     

    Not too happy about that but seems to get to the caches :)

    I'm planning on travelling to southern parts of Europe this summer (Italy or Greece, etc..)

     

    Any good hiking places over there?

     

    Any good places (hotels/lodges)?

    There are lots (and lots and lots and lots and lots!)

     

    I'd try asking on the relevant country forums.

     

    You could also do worse than have a look at a relevant travel guide such as Walking in Italy by Lonely Planet.

    Personally, I 'd recommend walking in the UK - we've got the Lake District, the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia to name but a few of our excellent walking areas that have fully developed tourist industries - and don't forget the £ is currently taking against the $US... :rolleyes:

    Thanks for your input Mike. I was mainly thinking of Italy and Greece.. when I looked at the Italian forum I was disappointed by the number of read posts to the number of replies!

     

    It is a good idea, however to try and post it like you said in the corresponding forum.

    I tried to upload some pix but clicking on the icon "insert image" pops up a window prompting me to add a URL instead!!

     

    I even tried copying a pic then trying to paste it but that didn't work either! (the paste option was not highlighted)

     

    How do I upload pix on here?

    Hi,

     

    I was in Spain during my vacation in July 2008. As I was going down the highway towards the sea, I came across a very beautiful place.. I could not resist but hide a micro cache inside it. Unfortunately, I can't post the cache because I don't live in Spain. Could someone adopt the cache and maintain it for me?

    It's located somewhere in Benalmedina (between Malaga and Marbella).

     

    If you think you would like to do that for me, please let me know and I will give you the coordinates and more details.
