  1. Most lamp post caches in parking lots can be done after hours. The fence cache can probably be done the same way. Most parking lot caches can be made easier by driving your vehicle right up to the cache and use it to block the view of others. You can also carry a clipboard to make yourself look like you belong in the area. I've used my GPS as a cellphone and was able to wonder next to a cache area. Most of the time, people will loose interest if keep doing it long enough. Just have to be creative in your charade..
  2. Easy,,, I don't do caches at peoples houses or places of business. Problem solved... )
  3. No problems here with the web updater at all. I did have to update twice one time, but it went fine.
  4. I still like doing it the old way. It lets me take the route I want to take and not the one it picks for me.
  5. Don't know many of those made out of PVC, but I guess you could if you wanted to. This is also why you choose the location somewhere else besides under a bridge or next to a building. The ones I use are out in the middle of nowhere. I have them anywhere from 2" pipe to 4" pipe.
  6. If PVC pipes weren't water-tight, plumbers wouldn't use them. I worked as a plumber during the summers growing up and if you know how to use PVC glue and a test cap, it will stay dry.... AS LONG as the last cacher to find it screws the test cap on tight. Any big-box store will know what a test cap is for a pvc pipe. They run anywhere from .80c each to 2.25 each depending on the size. The screw caps will not keep condensation out of the inside unless you use something like pipe-dope, but I don't think anyone would want to get that all over them by reaching inside the container.
  7. Can be seen here (and many, many others)
  8. From all that I've seen on the forums about the 400t is that you copy the .gpx files to the "drive:\garmin\GPX" directory (drive being the drive mapped to the unit when it's plugged into the computer.) Or You could look here.
  9. I am def logged in. Also, when I first hit the main page (geocache.com) it says I'm still a basic member. If you click here, does it say your account has already been verified?
  10. Well,,, you really didn't give an specifics on the make/model of the GPS you're using so I'm not sure if you can just take the gpx file that was emailed to you after you've ran the pocket query and copy it to your GPS - or - open the gpx file into MapSource (if you're using a garmin) and send it to the GPS that way.
  11. Replacement logs, notepads, baggies and pens mostly, but also carry ductape, black-tape, various replacement containers (hide-a-key, waterproof match tubes and nanos) as well - and also carry an ammo can for just in case.
  12. The closest one I see to Kiawah Island is GC14T16 over close to Rockville. You can use that cache to locate others close by but most will be either in Charleston or Edisto Beach.
  13. The model you purchased doesn't have a high sensitivity receiver which is why you find that you are loosing the signal under heavy cover so I don't think you're doing anything wrong
  14. Wouldn't gorilla glue crack or does it form a flexible adhesion? I think I need something stickier or gummier. I used it on mine and worked like a charm and that was probably about a year and a half ago. I recommended it to someone else and got an email they had the same results as I did. Nope, Gorilla glue didn't crack. Also, one of the reasons for the problem is the heat. I wouldn't think tape (of any kind) would solve this problem since heat pretty much has the same effect on tape.
  15. Look here under the "Geocoin Manufacturers & Resellers" tab is a good place to start.
  16. There probably is a way other than buying a t-shirt, but won't she be mad that you are tacking her??
  17. You can upload the text file here. I don't use the compass, but being only 10 to 20 feet off the GZ is actually pretty good.
  18. How would this be done without scraping the site or re-packaging a pocket query which would be against the TOS of Groundspeak?
  19. Weed Whacking and Bush Whacking is sometimes part of the hunt.
  20. I updated from 3.70 to 3.90 to fix a "Fade To Off" problem. After the update; no problems at all.
  21. If you have Acrobat or even one of the free PDF programs, chances are you have a PDF printer listed (or could install one by checking the "Print To File" box on the printer properties.
  22. Replacing a logbook or baggie or even a micro container like a match tube or magnetic key box I Probably wouldn't mind, but I would have a problem with someone replacing a "missing" cache of mine.
  23. It was a hobby turned business - Screenprinting. Can't look at a t-shirt (with a design) and think of the inks and screens used or how it could have been done better... :| What really changed me was working for an old well-known store (that sells craftsman) and working for a well-known electronics store (that use to make "tandy" computers). Never worked where I had to deal with the public again........ Must be why I don't cache with a group..
