  1. It must have been 6 or 7 years ago. Next to our house stood that fir tree which had grown to tall (about 12 ft) and we wanted to dig out in the next spring. So we decided to take to top 6 feet of it as our christmas tree. On the morning of Dec. 22th I got a ladder, a saw and collected our 2 sons to help me. I’d climb the ladder and saw off the upper half, the kids would catch it (the rest of the tree we’d take care of next spring as it was to cold out there to stay outside for longer). Well, there was the satellite-dish mounted to the wall of the house, but the tree would fall in a different direction, you can bet! You guess what came next: the tree-top fell against the antenna, the LNB fell down when it’s holding arm broke and hung there, swinging by the cable. The tree kept falling down to earth, as the kid’s couldn’t manage to catch it, many of the branches broke off because they were frozen. Instantly we knew we had a reason to get a bigger antenna with more bad-weather-reserves and went off to the store. I mounted it the same evening (while Felix stood at the base of the ladder and held the flashlight) and the day after we bought a christmas tree. So the summary of the story: The christmas tree: 20 Deutsche Marks The new sat antenna set: 400 Deutsche Marks Looking back to the whole story: priceless! Hope you like the story. Thank you, Dorkfish, for the generous prize and for all the stories yet to come!
  2. Have you still got the activation code? If you activate the coin once again, you can edit the (country and) date of activation
  3. It took longer than expected until the ordered/traded coins arrived, but now it's time for an update: Mission 1: Participating Received Name Mission Complete (Package went to the PO yesterday) Santa Arrived Mission 2: Participating Received Name Mission Complete (Package went to the PO yesterday) Santa Arrived
  4. Great, can't wait to see my little silver Nanuk. Even better: today the 2005 Alaska coin arrived. The Moose looks beautiful sitting next to the 2006 Wolf.
  5. No doubt about that. It was a to hard decision which finish not to order, so I took one of each. Thanks for the quick answer, can't wait to see them for real!
  6. 4 days ago my newest cache was published and yesterday I found this little dog in a stocking. I wonder if there's a connection! I loved the coin right from the first time I saw it, but it even looks better in reality! Wow!
  7. And the last one on this side of the Pacific arrived yesterday also! When coming home I found a letter sent by me , but with markings of New Zealand. When did I drink that much to forget the whole trip half around the world and back again? Then I saw that little bird next to the sender's adress and began to lough. This is what I found when opening the letter: a 2007 Fern New Zealand Recreational GPS Society (a great example: you don't need much graphical elements to make a stunning looking coin - I love it!) a Geocoinfest Multi-Event Mosaic-Coin a 2007 Kansas Sunshine Micro two keyrings (guess which bird is on one of them ) and finally a little kiwi bird clip. Thanks a lot for you package keewee! I hope everybody in your family is feeling better again! So finally: [X] Sent participation email [X] Got 2 names [X] Sent 2 packages [X] Both missions arrived!
  8. Wow - what a great looking coin. Hope I don't miss the V.2.
  9. Sorry, but <tracking number removed by moderator> is already registred with this TB. You can check it out: go to www.geocaching.com/track and enter the tracking number. If I were you I'd get a TB (with any tracking number) and attach anything related to your dad to it. Or related to it's plane, or the datum, or.. That way the relation to your dad is easier to see.
  10. Hihi, did I tell you the geo-nickname of our son Felix? Satansbraten, in English "cheeky devil". You may guess why we chose this nick.
  11. For me it's no alternative system to the one existing: when you have to send real coins to pay, the shipping costs (especially across the ocean) go higher than high. Sending 10 Geo$ from Germany to the US costs you € 8.00 (which means more than 11 US$). Also shipping goes a lot slower (most times around 2 weeks). So even if i take on the seller's paypal fees, the system used until now is a lot faster and cheapler. For me that's the KO to the Geo$
  12. Ordered (and paid) also. I don't think I get the coins before christmas, but nevertheless: they are a must. And if they can't hang in this year's christmas tree, the next chance is just 366 days ago.
  13. In Merkman's profile. He's got one activated, so the icon is there also.
  14. 1 Future Coin 2 Tranqility Coins 6 GeoTags Hey Castle Man, your coins cross the Atlantic Ocean a lot faster than coins from other shops - what kind of magic ist this? Ordered 11/17, shipped 11/17, arrival 11/22. Wow, thanks!
  15. My second mission also hasn't arrived yet, but since most of the packages have to cross an ocean to come to Europe, I think it's just a matter of time to arrive.
  16. My last coin arrived yesterday. Thanks to all traders! I like the idea.
  17. Mission 1: Participating (Email sent: 11/10/2007) Received Name, searching for coins to send, one "wanted" coin in hand Mission Complete Santa Arrived Mission 2: Participating (Email sent: 11/10/2007) Received Name, searching for coins to send Mission Complete Santa Arrived
  18. Mail sent. My wish to santa: mobile internet with a flatrate to monitor this forum 24/7
  19. I have to be lucky to collect all the coins when the postman brings a new letter. Often enough I hear a "Hey, that coin's mine!" from my son (12). His favourite is a Generic Mega and he loves to wear it on events as a necklace.
  20. It must have been a hard and long flight with those little wings, but also in Europe butterflies were sighted (and admired - wow, do they look great!).
  21. Unless they aren't available in the wrong moment (means i haven't bought to many coins in the last few days), i'd go for the shaped, perhaps the round ones too.
