  1. I have alot of good trade items in my area, I have 9 active caches and have placed nice stuff in them. The most recent Item i have left was a garmin 33. (older gps) The only reason I leave good items, Is because, The first cache i found had kentucky basket ball tickets in it. Which in trade I left $40 in the cache. (which was gone and replaced with mc trash) I guess I feel that it is fun to leave good items which may encourage more better trades, or give a great experience to new cachers. Its not what you take, but what you can give. It sucks sometimes, But my enjoyment comes from seeing positive feedbacks of my caches than my gains. I sometimes leave cash or other items of value. If it were not for my first find (kentucky ball tickets) I wouldn't leave great items now. Its the excitement of finding a great place to see, or a beautiful site. That is why i only place caches in great areas. I would outlaw urban micros all together. no fun in that. If you dont belive me come to southren Kentucky and take a look at mine. zip-- 42501. I belive in being the better person in most situations, and beat the crap out of all the rest. enjoy life and try to make at least one other person happy on the way.
  2. I was at home one night alone just taking it easy. I was watching the Travel channel, checking out that Samantha Brown on "Great Hotels". I took a little power nap and awoke to see a show "The Best Of". I cant remember the #1 best but I remember the geocaching segment of the show.I instantly got up and did some searching on the web. I was hooked Immeditaly. I didnt buy my gps untill 3 months later, But I became a member that night. I paid my money to help out with such a great sport. I soon started working a second job and had no time to play. Then I found my self on e-bay looking for a good GPSr. Then about two days later a Garmin E-Trex was on there for $50 and just minutes left. So I bid on it and won. After reciving it I barely had it out of the package and out the door to find my first. I was kinda let down by the lack of caches in my area, So I put out one out just a few days. It was approved almost within a few hours. And found within a few days. At one time I had as many hides as finds. People started comming from as far as 100 miles away. I knew then I could share something with others that was worth it for a change. I still dont have many finds But i have several in my local and still enjoy it. Every once and a while I will have an interested party put out a cache, and more likely than not I am the FTF. I am still promoting it here and sure it will go. WOODY33 42501

    Local Cache's

If they dont have an internet connection, They are missing the whole fun of it. I vote to keep it here on the internet. And if they dont have a computer Then finding one at 3am in the morning to find a cache, will be just as fun as finding the cache its self, lol
  8. I bought a garmin etrex, (convinced its the most practical for the application) on e-bay for $60. Then paid way up there for another brand and after using both I still use the etrex. I sold the other and swore i would never trade again. (till next time)
  9. There arent alot of caches in my area by the way.

  11. Just make sure you are prepared, I almost froze to death on a cache because in lower elevations the weather was tolorable. But on top of east river mountian in WV. it was a diffrent story, but I will not give up unless its gets dark, or my daughter is getting off of the bus in less than an hour. lol
  12. I have 10 finds 7 hidden 1 travel bug, Its not how much you do, Its the passion or fun you have. Some may disagree but I say if you can hide a multi, find a multi, post a bug, and get someone else as excited about the sport as you are, you are not a newbie any more. have fun with it and dont worry about it, They havent kicked me out of the forums or told me I couldnt hide and seek caches. Heck geocaching.com is my homepage for christs sake.

  20. I found several diffrent colors of fabric folded or rolled up, and tied together on a string hanging in a tree where there were no evidence of many people ever being while i was hiding my multi cache yesterday. The string had one color and down from it not touching each other was another, I cant understand why it was there. does anyknow anything about this type of marking. The object in the tree was well off the beaten path. There was very little trash on the whole trail, all removed now.
  21. Thanks for the tips, Im planning to hide a super cache in the area, as soon as i snatch a 20mm. ammo can. may put some more valuable stuff in it, and take the info to an upcomming event about 2 hours away. This is my next sales pitch, lol
  22. Im lloking for some 20 mm airforce ammo cans. I want to make a super cache and put some valuable stuff in it. Im placing it very far out so It is not easily found, and i think this would do the trick. please e-mail me back @ woody33@charter.net
  23. Here in southren Kentucky, Somerset, I am about the only one here placing caches. (42501) Does anybody have any suggestions on how to promote Geocaching except by just word of mouth? I have told about everyone I work with and know. I even made a bumpersticker. It seems no one wants to place any around here. I have seen several people here involved, but no new caches.
