  1. I believe the second one is what they are asking for. Translating directly into WGS84. Your help would be really apperciated
  2. I looked to see where else I could get help and I came up short. I made a few posts but so far to no avail. So I decided to try good ole populated North America.

  7. quote: How about - TN, left travel toliet paper. Indicating it was CRAPPY!! which can be translated into-TNLTP. I actually have no problem putting in the log that a place was too Dirty for me to search (I haven't experienced a cache like this yet). I will post it in a note however and not take a nofind. But as far a cache in every park, I have no problem with that as it isn't hazardous or dangerous to me or my daughter or as long as it's geo-trash. I'm a NEWBIE and I have more sense than to place a trash cache. I am dying to place a cache, however, I'm waiting til i find the perfect spot. As for cache type/placement. It should be some creativity, for example. The Ticket Booth Sounds like a nice twist, where you need to use stealth. Sounds like fun to me. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  8. Read above. I was going to write Garmin. but found this works GREAT!!!!! i LOVE my Garmin. if you let them know they will replace the piece but if you follow what I suggest it is not needed. I have been so pleased with my Legend. The resolution, the reception are exceptional with and W/O WAAS.(never owned a Magellan <hear they are nice&gt. If you feel you should move else where than so be it. I think I am GARMIN fo life. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  9. That sounds great! I'm putting it on the calendar right after this post. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  10. Thanks for the tip. I used those sticky felt furniture pads (half inch size) cut them in half and put inside the cover so they contact the top and bottom of each ba. I also put them on either side of the spine that runs down the middle of the cover so that the batteries can't move side to side. Problem solved and no more hassle. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  11. Keep me posted....I'm living in Westchester but my whole family is on the Island. with the 'Rents in Huntington. brought my 3 yr old daughter "treasure hunting" for the first ime today. She loved it. As for the wifey, I'm still deciding on wether or not to take her out. hehehe. I just missed BassoonPilot this morning, and Adimiron apparently followed right behind me. But as of yet I still haven't met any other geocachers. But would like to. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  12. I ws just wondering if anyone has experienced their Legend turning off when bumbping against something. I don't mean with the force of being dropped on the ground but with a little less force than hitting a ketchup...(catsup?) bottle. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  13. It's Like PC vs. Mac...It's al about what you get. I got a Garmin Legend and love it. It also hooks up to Mac with SimpleGPS and MacGPS Pro. Although i havent used it yet I wanted it to be compatible. I like the size, weight and resolution of the Legend. And it has a little extra memory for when I get enough scratch together to get the Mapsource TOPO Disc. All in all no matter what yo get you will love and it will become yours. Also Look to what deals are around. I got mine for a total of 100 bucks cheaper than MSRP for buying online and with a mail-in rebate. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::
  14. Hit the Eagles Nest yesterday and while walking down to the carriage house was startled by a 5 point Buck that about 7 feet away behind some bushes. He and his girlfriend ran off before I could even reach for my camera. But we stared at each other (each in shock at how close we were) for a goo 30 sec. By the way that Carriage house is CREEPY! Check my log for some pics. ========================== ::::: That was ZEN, This is TAO. :::::

  17. Brian-Wow, thanks for all the great suggestions. And thanks for explaining the Car Shuttle. The Witten/Cornell/Slide loop looks great. Might do that and go for the Catskill Critter Cache. Or (most likely) go for a more leisurly hike (still have to check out the others you mentioned on my maps). Really Appreciate your input. and if I have any ?s I'll E-mail. And once we get the date squared I'll let you know and maybe you can join us. The more the merrier (especially when they are more experienced). Wvabackpacker- Thanks for the suggestion but it is little to far for an overnight. But, I will definately write down for a future adventure. Thanks again. ========================== ::::: I'll find you One Eyed Willy! :::::
  18. Funny, I just picked up a 5-map set of the Catskill trails from EMS. I want to go for an overnight. So I figure, It would be best to reach Camp with a few hours before sundown then be able to wander around alittle. How does the Car Shuttle work? I've mostly dayhiked over the years while visiting friends or relatives. And a few Uneducated overnights on the AT near a friends lake house in NJ. Now, I want to explore new territory, take it to the next skill level. I think a loop might be nice. We are in good physical shape. Can't <twich> say the same <twich> about the mental atate. hehe. ========================== ::::: I'll find you One Eyed Willy! :::::
  19. A buddy and I are itching to purge the spirit with an overnight camping trip. We want to park, Have a good days hike in to a nice scenic spot, Stay the night then Hike out....obviously. We live in Metro NY and don't want to drive more than, I guess...3 hours. But we will go in any direction, upstate NY, PA, NJ. I would like to be able hit a Cache or two on the way in or out. But this is not a neccessity. Any suggestions. Links to park websites would also be appreciated. Thanks -Goon ========================== ::::: I'll find you One Eyed Willy! :::::

  22. Anyone know where you can buy Mil-Spec Permethrin Concentrate? I HATE TICKS!!! Nasty little buggers. I'd pay $50 to have my cache clothes set for a year. Clingy bastards. ========================== ::::: I'll find you One Eyed Willy! :::::
  23. Would love to. I'm new to this and it would be nice to meet some of you peeps. ========================== ::::: I'll find you One Eyed Willy! :::::
