  5. The samples of the Medieval Caching Geocoin are approved, and production has started. The Medieval Caching Geocoin is based on a original jeton of Dutch nobleman Hendrik, Lord of Bederode, dated 1566. Hendrik became a convert to the Reformed faith and placed himself at the side of the prince of Orange and Count of Egmont in resisting the introduction of the Spanish Inquisition and Spanish despotism into the Netherlands. In 1566 he was one of the founders of the confederacy of nobles who bound themselves to maintain the rights and liberties of the country by signing a document known as the Compromise of Nobles. On April 5 of that year Brederode accompanied to the palace a body of 300 Knights, for whom he acted as the spokesman, to present to the regent, Margaret of Parma, a petition setting forth their grievances. It was at a banquet at the Hotel Culemburg on April 8, presided over by Bréderode, that the sobriquet of les Gueux, or "the Beggars," was first given to the opponents of Spanish rule. Bréderode, the "Grote Geus" or big beggar, was banished from the Netherlands by Alva, and died in exile shortly afterwards at the early age of thirty-six. Jetons were token or coin-like medals produced across Europe from the 13th through the 17th centuries. They were produced as counters for use in calculation on a lined board similar to an abacus. Next to a couple of regular editions, there will be 4 available limited editions. The geocoin is 1.75”, had 3D on both sides and is trackable on geocaching.com wit hits own icon. The limited editions are expected at the end of may. foggy gold/antique silver antique silver/antique bronze antique bronze/antique silver burgundy glitter dark nickel/antique silver blue glitter If you want more information, just send me an PM.
  9. "Dit is opzet! Kwajongenswerk! Men boomt mij dwars, dat is duidelijk!"
Vriendelijke groet, Rian (Van Stoffelen Sr)

  23. The Frisia Geocoin is made after an old Dutch coin, a silver florin of Frisia, minted in the city of Leeuwarden in 1684. Frisia was one of the 7 provences of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. In 1579 these northern provences of the Netherlands signed the Union of Utrecht, in which they promised to support each other in their defence against the Spanish army. This was followed in 1581 by the Act of Abjuration, the declaration of independence of the provinces from Philip II of Spain. This coin was introduced in Frisia (a region in the Northern Netherlands) in 1601 as a response to changing coin weights in the southern Netherlands. The man on the front of the coin is an unknown Frisian nobleman, with on his head a 'klapmuts' or in english - badly translated - a fliphat. The latin text 'Nisi Dominvs Nobiscvm' means 'Unless the Lord is with us'. The text '28 st' means 28 stuivers, the actual value of this Frisian florin. The two little 'Pompeblêden' (leaves of a water lily) is a little reference to the current Dutch provence Friesland. On the back of the coin the arms of Frisia is minted. The latin text 'Florenvs Argent Ordi Frisia' means 'Silver Florin of Frisia'. For more information about this geocoin, just send me a PM. Samples:
  24. The Frisia Geocoin is a new Dutch themed geocoin. Samples will arrive soon. The geocoin is 1,75" in diameter and both sides are in 3D. For more information, just send me a PM. For now I can show the initial artwork. As soon as the samples are in photo's will follow.
