  1. Looks like either one is a winner. Really nice work
  2. As I said in a early post as a newbie I TNLN. I am really enjoying this new hobby in my retirement but some aspects are not all that easy to grasp for an old fart.
  3. Being new to this hobby and not knowing the protocol for things left in a cache I leave these things alone and just sign the log. I have run into wooden coins path tags etc and they stay where they are. LOL
  4. USN from 61 to 65 ETN2 USS Saratoga CVA60 for the most part.
  5. I enjoy the Cemetery hides as there are many old Cemeteries in this area.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. Being new to this I will not be ordering from them anytime soon.
  7. I am new at this also. Try and stay away from a cache that has not been found or has a lot of DNF recently. I have discovered there a lot of caches out there that do not receive any checks by there owner so don't be discouraged. They just may not be there.
  8. To me it is a hobby. What ever your reason is have fun doing it.
  9. As someone new to the hobby I find this a great site to learn. Most of my questions where answered by doing a little searching. Even for this 66 year old it has been an easy trip so far. Put forth a little effort and you will have an easy time.
  10. I recently bought and installed CacheMate on my Palm TX. Loaded My PQs all seemed well until I noticed the Caches are listed by Name instead of the GNC... etc. This makes it difficult to relate the GPS to the PDA. I tried the list by waypoint but doesn't work just list by Name. Any suggestions? Old fart new hobby. Thanks
  11. 870 Miles will return in the winter months and do more searching.
  12. I have a diesel pick up I use and at 12 to 14 MPG I really need to go another way. This maybe my answer to warm weather caching at least.
  13. It is possible that not being familiar with the rules of the game things will start to disappear from caches and even the caches themselves. If this evolves it can spell big trouble for the hobby. We shall see if they haven't shot themselves in the foot on this one.
  14. I won't log a DNF if I can't get to the area no parking. In or on private property etc.
  15. Why the Camera? Don't find a need for that the phone I have is a better Camera. What I do have a need for is something that locks on better than this Vista Hcx I now have.
  16. It gets easier with experience, when you figure out what are the favorite spots for micros. You listed 7, and the first one is a regular sized ammo box. The second has a string of DNFs so might be missing. you would think with a large string of DNF the cache would be checked by the owner? New to this also but it is fun learning.
  17. Well since I am Old and Logging seems to be a major part of Geocaching and I am not very creative. Well you get the picture.
  18. Went out today. Just getting started with this and enjoying the learning curve. Old guy new toy and hobby.
  19. Been strange all day. Doesn't appear to have been a smooth transfer by any means. Oh well there is always tomorrow.
  20. False. I have gotten new cache notification emails late at night but the last one was in a cemetary. In Michigan cemetaries are closed from dusk to dawn by state law. The next cacher has called in sick in order to go after an FTF. False I am new and never had a FTF plus no need now as I am also retired The next Cacher as words of advice for a old newbie
  21. Thanks for the link to the Indiana State Parks we are ne to the area. Went on line and ordered a yearly admission pass seems like a good deal and a lot of nice parks.
  22. How do you keep track of your finds. Is there a logbook you use or a software program or do you use a notebook of some sort.?
  23. get information from here to my GSAK program. I just downloaded GSAK to my computer and want to transfer information on caches from my zip code to this program. This old man trying to get started in this and a lot of help needed.
