  1. I can drop in North Western Illinios and North Eastern Iowa if you are interested. Later this summer I will also be making a trip to Kansas if you don't have any going there. Monty
  2. This is very interesting. Checked out your profile and can't wait to see what the treat is.
  3. That I was introduced to geocaching, although I'm not sure my wife is very thankful about that.
  4. I have searched through this forum and have found all kinds of ways to adopt a travel bug where both parties are willing; but what about adobting TBs that have been abandoned by the owner? I have found a TB that has completely disintegrated and the only thing left of it is the dog tag. I have tried multiple times to contact the owner asking if they would like the dog tag sent back to them but have never receieved a response. If fact, the last time they even logged on to gc.com was back in July. They have been a member since June 2006 but have only logged 29 finds. I will keep trying to contact the owner, but in the mean time I would like to know if it is possible to adobt a TB without the owner's involvement? I don't want to steal the TB, but I'd also hate to see it die just because the owner dropped out of the game. What is the protocol here? Does the TB die with the owner? Thanks.
  5. Does anyone know if there is a cacher club in North Western Illinois? Specifically, I'm from the Sterling/Rock Falls area. If not, is anyone interested in forming one in this area?
  6. I too am having the same problem. I have 3 routes that I have created to practice with, and I am unable to delete them or run them. When I try to run them, I get an exception error. I thought it was just me. Glad to see someone else is having problems too. Maybe its a coding error on gc.com
  7. In short, there are two numbers that you need to activate a Travel Bug or Geocoin; the serial number on the dog tag or coin and the activation code. The activation code is printed on the package that the coin or dog tag came in. Go to the Trackable Items page on geocaching.com and enter the serial number that is printed on the dog tag or coin in the "Activate Trackable Item" field. You will then be taken to a screen that will ask for you activation code. Again, this is found on the package that the coin or dog tag came in. If your items didn't come clearly maked with either a sticker or an insert that contains that activation code, you need to contact the seller. Hope this helps.
  8. I just purchased version 2008 for my new 60CSx. My son has a Etrex vista Hcx and it cannot use the maps unless I purchase a seperate unlock code. Also, trying to simply load the maps on the SD memory card and install it in the second GPS does not work. The second unit simply says that it can't access the card. When I called Garmin, they said that there was no discount for adding a second unit. That stinks in my opinion.
  9. I just received my Garmin GPSMap 60CSx on Thursday and I love it! What was interesting is that mine came with a 128mb SD card instead of the advertised 64md. Does anyone know if this is the trend at Garmin now, or did I get lucky?
  10. I live in the town in which former President Ronald Reagan was born and can place items in my cache here. Maybe some would find that fun. Add me to your list. Monty Fox Tampico, Illinois USA
  11. I've sent my PM for 1 gold and 1 silver. SWEEEEEEET Coin!
