  1. From what I've noticed there was some early collation in terms of the reference number, but not the tracking number. With the addition of coins, jeeps, UFD, etc, you'd need a computer to tell you where something like TB1AW9X fell in the rotation.
  2. It works. No guarantee that it'll be there, just listed that it is. And it's out of date almost immediately... I'd still like to give active travelers more than three months before considering it lost but you'll probably looking at very old data. No, I will not tell you to look at the drop date because it's ridiculous to give that much effort just to find one. And I a TB advocate.
  3. If cachers are expecting to find Trackables in a nano container, the problem is worse than I thought. So where the heck have you been? I remember us telling people to wait for the previous cacher to catch up on their logging before they grabbed it away so they won't mess up the logging. Which of course the forum could always instruct them how to fix for them later. Yeah. Good times. Now we have nothing but a mess of missing TBs and I'm not going to tell the OP that don't have a right to offer some sort of solution. Even if it's not prefect. And yes the mess does definitely include missing TBs dropped in mircos. So why don't you tell us how we can address it.
  4. It works. No guarantee that it'll be there, just listed that it is.
  5. I'll let someone else point you to the help file but here's the shortcut Click on send to gps and under Waypoint name - insert %smart-%dif1a%ter1a%con1 Max characters 16
  6. Well maybe not the subject line but at least in the email.
  7. I'm partial to the Vista but considering it's been discontinued I have to agree with the 20 recommendation. I like an auto-routing gps to get me to the parking lot, and it'll provide paperless cache details (Nuvi). And a rugged gps to get me down the trail. (previously the Vista)
  8. Don't worry, it's never going to happen here.
  9. I don't really care to know which reviewer published the cache so why not add the D/T/Size in the subject header instead? If they can fit the in owner's name I guess that would be okay. Name/Type/D/T/Size/Onwer.
  10. When caching with young children - it is always best to go out and find the cache first. This will allow you to know the cache is there. You know where it is so you don't spend too much time searching, You can determine that the terrain is an easy enough hike and doesn't take too long to get there. You can even add a few trinkets ahead of time so they have something to trade for.
  11. I agree but unfortunately I doubt Groundspeak would.
  12. Just leave it at that. Offer no opinion and your cache should meet the guidelines.
  13. GSAK can slice and dice pertinent information into limited space. For example No Sugar Tonight In My Coffee D 1.5, T 1.5 cache size Micro is translated to NoSugarT-AAM. You just need to know the code.
  14. I appreciate that you responded, honestly, not many people would. I consider logging TBs as part of sharing the caching experience. You agree with that, right?
  15. Of course. You would only have the option when you have logged it. I have no doubt considering the friendly community many people would like most of the bugs they found. Eventually they would only spend their time noting the ones they felt deserved it. bd
  16. You'd probably have to reduce the size of the photo which unfortunately means the bug page loses out on a decent photo as well. Nothing I can suggest about the name length other than to submit a new feature request. But considering my current level of cynicism I'm not promising you'll get any response at all.
  17. I would agree with that until I just happen to sign the log first, through no fault of my own, and people take issue with it. You know it happens. "These ftf-hounds are ruining for the rest of us!" No, just happened to live nearby and wanted to go caching.
  18. A paper map will do you just fine.
  19. Read the exact same thing many years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if someone copied it and I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with it on their own. Ignore it and leave to the like-minded who want a forum/stage unto themselves. bd
  20. Any opinion about adding the Favorite option to Bugs and Coins? There have been some pretty cool ones, community favorites. So far it's been by word of mouth. I think if you can Favorite a Traveler people might take an interest in ones traveling around the world or which ones near them have a good count. What a makes it worth the stat? How can I start one that people will Favorite? You know, build interest, provide incentive.

First I've heard of it but after a few glances I would have to agree with you. Sweet!
  22. That's plastic not glass right? I have a cache that is a camouflaged water bottle which would be pretty tough to get your fingers into to retrieve the log. I put the log inside one of those match holder tube-like thingies so all you have to do is "pour" it out of the container and into your hand. For your situation I might glue it to the under side of the lid. Or use a strong tie and glue that to the lid. Find a small enough log container that can be poured out of the opening. Edit: Here's another thought. Tie the log to something that can be poured/dropped out of the cache (a ball or lug-nut) and then the finder could pull the logbook out.
  23. I don't lie. and you know it as well. It is exactly what is allowed.
  24. Two things. 1. We love talking about geocaching, even if it's been covered before. The Getting Started Forum is the angst-free zone. 2. Welcome to the addiction!
