A phone is not better than a handheld.
I'll argue that one to death. My Droid does a much better job then my Garmin 60csx. It never jumps around and is always +/- 6'. As a matter of fact I stopped using the garmin and stuck to just the Droid.

I must be blind because I'm not seeing any of these options. This is Street Atlas USA 2009 Plus that I'm using.
Got it Got it Got it!!! I had to click on HELP then select Welcome Screen to get the option to do this. That box never popped up for me on startup.

How do I stop SA 2009 from opening up to Salt Lake City? I keep saving map files to the place I want it to open up to (home town) but yet it doesn't help.

What is GSAK? It's been written about all over this forum but, I have no idea what it is. Can someone please just give me a basic description?

That was easy enough...

::: sigh ::: Round 5, or is it 6?
It's a numbered state route that is marked on the maps of the area as a major arterial route. Not an interstate, to be sure, but a busy main road. The bridge carries the four-lane road over the city of Cleveland's commuter rail line.
Cachers would be visible from the road while searching for a cache that's less than 150 feet from busy railroad tracks and a highway overpass. Because of the guidelines for "Off Limits" locations, I questioned the placement. I would have happily published the cache had the hider simply said they had obtained permission (as was the case with another cache in the area hidden that same week by someone else near an overpass and railroad tracks). Likewise, I would have happily published the cache had the hider moved it to a location where it would be reasonable for me to assume that permission would have been granted, eliminating the need to inquire about proof.
The hider chose instead to appeal the denial to Groundspeak, as is their right. Upon review, Groundspeak sustained the decision.
OK, time for round 6. Or is it 7?
::: sigh ::: but yet you let one slide that is smack dab on the very corner of a very busy road that has no place to park but in the middle of the road...

I have lost my Garmin Rino 130. I lost it sometime between 31DEC06 and 19JAN07. I may have lost it in Durham, NC; Fayetteville, NC; or Wilmington, NC. Last time I remember having it was near Land of the Lost cache in Durham, NC. It has polling on and postion reporting. If you find it please contact me so we can discuss a reward.
And you're just now looking for it??? Good luck with that one.

Maybe you can feel me in with what this means exactly. I'm fixing to purchased a 60cs. What exactly is this upgrade about??
Changes made from version 4.10 to 4.20:
* Improved support for Macintosh USB.
* Corrected support for certain carpool/toll roads types in Austria and Switzerland.

From what other Garmin users who have had to use Garmin's Customer Service/Warranty Repairs have reported that the turn around time on a warranty repair/replacement is so quick that most people are without their GPSr for only about a week, should anything go wrong with it. I use a 60CSx and kept an older Garmin as a backup. The backup never gets used and is just collecting dust. IMO unless your survival in the back country depends on your GPSr a backup GPSr is just something addtional to carry that won't get used. If survival is an issue then the backup should always be paper maps.
If you are set on having a backup, then IMO the Legend Cx one be an excellent backup or even as a primary unit. It's compact size is nice that is doesn't take up much room. The Sirf III chip in the 60Cx/CSx or 76Cx/CSx is excellent and you won't be dissappointed with it at all. After having my 60CSx for amost a year, I'd get the 60CSx again if I had it to do over.
The backup is mainly for the use of other people when I drag them along I do need this for work though so there is no way I could be without it for a week or so.

Hmm now I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking about keeping my 60CS but I don't think I can use NT with it. I guess I can just sell it and maybe buy something else that will use NT for a back up unit.
-
Well I'm looking to pick up a 60CSX or 60CX and I'm wondering about the mapping software. Should I go with the NT or not? If I read everything correctly the only difference is that the NT has smaller map sizes. Is that correct? I'll also be getting a 2gb card for it so I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with space since I really only need to load a few states (MI, OH, IN, KY, WV PA).

city nav.north america 7 burned on cd
So this isn't the original CD?

TheLadybuggers are still looking... Doesn't anyone want to upgrade for the summer?!

No further then 13.92 miles.

I don't think I've ever seen a wet nano log, so I wouldn't waste my money on Rite in the Rain logs for them.
Then you must not have done very many nanos. I have ran into MANY damp and wet nanos.
-
You need to load the maps at the same time then you can choose which one you want to use.

In GSAK click on file, export, cachmate PDB file. When the box pops open enter the name and place that you want to save it then click generate. After that all you need to do is a hotsync.

yeah thats how I got my palm to work was to uninstall gsak. Now it may work if I reinstall but I would like to know if there is a way to use them so that they won't conflict. Maybe a reinstall. I am on my 21 day trial. I really like gsak I hope I can use it.
There really is no reason that they should conflict with each other.

For those who use GSAK there's a new macro for GSAK V7 which generates a comprehensive and highly configurable set of statistics. The output is an HTML file suitable for pasting into your GC.com profile and requires no external links or servers to run. Lots of options and lots of different stats!
Here's the link to the GSAK forum
Thats a nice one BUT it has my milestones all screwed up.

Would you people PLEASE learn how to use the quotes...

I have a Delorme, Garmin and Magellan. I mostly use the Garmin and leave the others for back up.

This cache may be like that.
Its not like that at all. It is CLEARLY on RR property.
