  1. Thank you!!! Is there a database of geocaching groups? I know some may be on facebook but I'm not "on" facebook and know little how to navigate it. I appreciate the patience and support. I'm sure there are some valid reasons for hiding archived caches but there must be an element of personal repsonsibility. I'm really frustrated by institutional/governmental oversight in lieu of personal accountability. Where does the line get drawn? But this is NOT the forum for that. I just appreciate any and all support in satisfying my quest. I will seek some DE groups but in the meantime, if any find this post, please feel free to assist. THANKS!!!
  2. Back in September of 2010, we stayed in Rehoboth for Sunfest weekend (which is an OCMD event but we like Rehoboth). We had never been to Lewes (or been back since) and always have our bikes with us. We discovered the Junction & Breakwater Rail Bike Trail. Our main objective was to explore Lewes. I did not have my GPS but had the Geochaging app on my iPhone at the time. So, along the way, we grabbed some caches. I logged them through the app but discovered recently they did not transfer to our profile online (no surprise now given Groundspeak's "performance"). Previously, a cache search would display ALL caches, including those archived. Well, after joining the Geocaching site as a premium member anticipating this option, I now find that Groundspeak, in it's "wisdom" has eliminated it. So, now, instead of conducting a simple search, I must search the web, forums and beg fellow cachers for info on what I believe to be archived caches as they do not show up on current searches as active or disabled. These were all traditional caches, no challenges or puzzles, as I recall, we were in grab and go mode. The only fortunate aspect is that I have pictures of the grabs. I am praying that local cachers will recognize these and maybe have them in their logs so I can get a reference number or other identifier. UNFORTUNATELY, the good times keep rolling as I am unable to upload images into this post. There is an option but it seems the images must be hosted on the web elsewhere already. Honestly, I'm old and not tech advanced enough to figure this stuff out...why can't I simply insert photos directly? Why can't I simply search the web site for archived caches?? I DO NOT see a renewel of the premium membership in my future. Now I'm lost again. I really think cachers familiar with this area could ID the caches by my photos but how to display them with some descriptions? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, you guys are my only hope!! What about e-mail? I don't know.
  3. OK, seems I answered my own question but in the process have become significantly disappointed with Groundspeak. I KNEW that archieved caches previously were listed in searches. When that didn't occur, I paidfor a premium membership as I believe I was a premium member in the past when these searches yielded archieved caches. Now, I have found multiple threads regarding Groundspeaks elimination of this ability, right after they got my $30. Wow, this makes NO sense to me. I suppose now I will have to go through the immense trouble of trying to track down these caches through the forums and logs of others rather than simply performing a search through the website I just gave $30 to...and for what!!!!
  4. If ANYONE at Groundspeak cares, I was familiar with the ability to search for archieved caches in the past as a premium member. I recently renewed my membership as I had a need for this ability again. It is obvious but I WILL NOT be renewing again now that this ability is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. On a somewhat related note, can anyone tell me why this cache did not show up on a search? I tried various searches, including a pocket querry but no evidence of it. Previously (in years past), I remember running searches and if "all caches" was checked, you would indeed see ALL; disabled, archived and otherwise. Yet, this cache did not show up at all. I ask because I have 2 or 3 more caches I am trying to locate from the past (not in hershey though) and am encoutering the same issue. If I could conduct a search which truly includes ALL caches, I would not have to make such inquires. THANK YOU again though for your assiatnce with THIS cache and any additional assistance
  6. Oh My Gosh, I think you got it. That matches the one we visited perfectly, it's gotta be it. THANK YOU. It just reinforces how much we love geocaching and the caching community!!!!!!
  7. THANK YOU. Didn't think of that but I'm not even on Facebook so I REAALY appreciate it!!
  8. Please forgive me if this is not the best use of the forums. We love geocaching. It's been a wonderful family experience through the years as the kids have grown. The caching logs provide a framework for remebering those times and reliving the events with our now older children. Therefore, I am a bit OCD about the logs. I realized recently that there is a geocache missing from our records. We were out biking in Hershey, PA on July 4th weekend in 2010. At that time, I had an iPhone with the Geocaching app. I liked the app at the time but am now realizing, years too late, that caches I "logged" through the app are not appearing on the site In an attempt to complete our experiences, I went looking for the cache's profile. I have always been able to find caches, even if they are archived or otherwise no longer active/valid but this one I can not locate. I am wondering if it has been moved instead but I therefore have no way I can think of to identify it now. The iPhone has been since traded in, I can't rememner the name of the cache. All I know is where it used to be. That day, we parked our car in Shank Park in Hershey and rode the bikes down a path, towards 322, that paralleled Bullfrog Valley Rd. The cache was a large ammo box about 15 feet off the path. Somewhere between Wood Rd and Shank Park on the map. There are no caches presently listed that I can find along this route. I know it's a long shot. I don't know what to do next and thought maybe someone from the Hershey area might have visited the cache which I am refering to and can give me a name or something to look it up by. Thank you so much in advance and for tolerating my question
