  1. Right but the problem with that is some of things on GSAK can be "tweaked" so some CO's do not accept a GSAK listing. I personally prefer GSAK or using the stats page for displaying rather than using up the limited amount of bookmark lists that you are allowed to have. I mean it will make a 'Bookmark List' for you. Oops clearly I misunderstood, sorry about that but that brings me to the next thing how do you make a bookmark with GSAK, do tell?

  3. I'm sure there must be a guideline preventing us from tar and feathering someone Consider this a formal invite to my event http://coord.info/GC3BD3B maybe you can come out and see what it is we do for our community and the environment. You can meet many of the OGA executive and talk to us about your concerns. Sometimes in emails and forums the tone is lost and it can get ugly quickly. I think it would great for you to have your say in person. Now that this topic has been completely railroaded lets steer it back on course. Mrs T.
  4. I've seen it before and I think its fantastic. Some people can't afford a premium membership or simply don't know what the benefits are, this is a very kind way of introducing them to that. If the FTFer ends up being one that has a Premium Member will you just ask them to leave it for the next person that doesn't?
  5. For starters we have made ourselves available to the media, in addition some of our members have reached out to the OPP. What is it you would like to see us do? Please feel free to message me so we can have a detailed discussion about the amount of time myself and the rest of the executive put into promoting healthy geocaching in Ontario. I can assure you that we put a lot of our own time into landowner relations and all the other things you have pointed out in bold type.
  6. I am the Secretary of the Ontario Geocaching Association and I hardly think we are doing nothing. What the president tweets about on her personal twitter page is her business and there is nothing unprofessional about it. The OGA does not find anything about this situation amusing, nor have we ignored it. I find your post downright offensive we put a lot of VOLUNTEER man hours into what we do and we don't take any of it lightly so your claim is completely out of line.
  7. BTW when Groundspeak tells you to not contact another player they mean it. Ignoring this will get your account suspended. I still maintain that you are the problem here as you have failed to provide necessary information that IS NEEDED to deal with the problem. Again you could take it to a reviewer if there is an issue but you keep pointing the finger at the CO. I see a clear cut game of, I don't like what you said about me so I am taking my ball and going home. Nobody wins in this situation.
  8. Not necessarily it can be used in various scenarios just to grab the reviewers attention. Our reviewers often tell us to post a NA, if a cache is in trouble and the cache owner isn't responding than this IS the ideal thing to do. Let the reviewer handle it, especially in a scenario such as this when there is more to the story to be told. *edit* For bad spelling
  9. You have nailed this correctly. As of right now the OP has done nothing but badger the CO and supplied no information to back up the claim of a frustrated neighbour. I can assure you the CO does not want or need the extra attention and therefore will not respond to this person as per instruction from Groundspeak. The proper way to handle this situation has been listed half a dozen times in this thread, so far the OP has chosen not to follow any of them. I would suggest this thread be locked down if it didn't serve as a learning process for other cachers.
  10. I agree completely but there is a way to handle it. I personally would give the neighbour the email address or phone number of Groundspeak. Instructing a neighbour to throw away property that is not on his and technically belongs to someone else is theft. If the OP has contacted the CO and no action has been taken than its out of his hands. The OP has in other threads expressed his issue with a certain power trail, if this cache is part of that trail it should be noted the CO's did seek permission to place ALL of their caches and therefore its possible that they have permission for the cache to be there whether the neighbour likes it or not. I agree it should be moved if it causes angst to the neighbour but it is him that should handle it.
  11. There could be a reason the cache owner has not responded, they could be away, they may not cache anymore, it could be an owner you've had a run in with before, the reasons are endless and its beyond your control. There are irresponsible owners, there is irresponsible finders, its not your place to figure out why that is. If it is a concern put a needs archive on the listing, there really is no reason to continue on about it.
  12. If the cache is that much of an issue you should put a needs archive on it. I am certain you are familiar with how to do a NA log as you've done it several times already. However it would be far better to have your neighbour email Groundspeak with his or her concern about the problem it really shouldn't be your responsibility to continue to police other peoples caches.
  13. I dare anyone to plant more trees than us!!! http://coord.info/GC3BD3B Congratulations to all the cachers that have helped out with our tree plants this is our third year in a row, bringing the total number to just over 2000 trees planted by you ... well done!
  14. Groundspeak would have had to pay huge $$$ to Google to continue to offer the maps, therefore no more Google maps.
  15. Not a huge secret how we feel about power trails and yes we tend to agree with northernpenguin *GASP* that the Lingaham power trail has made it less remote and that its a shame that Bushwacker no longer deserves a decent log. With that being said it took us a while but we've learned that what we like isn't for everybody and I think Paul n Susan sum it up nicely with this statement.
  16. AMEN and I don't think this feature is necessary at all.
  17. This idea doesn't work for me as we have different trackables for different cache types etc. The ability to use the visited option when logging is a vast improvement over the way we used to have to do things when you had to manually go in and pick up your trackables out of each cache you visited.
  18. Do you use GSAK? You can enable the fcount column and it will tell you if you've logged a cache more than once.
  19. I found probably 6 or 7 different forms of electrical boxes / faceplates. I never once thought them to be an issue, in almost every instance its pretty easy to spot the fake. If I don't feel safe I don't stick my fingers in there its that simple but I don't see any reason these shouldn't be used as containers. Heck I'll take these over nanos any day of the week!!!
  20. You can set up instant notifications if you are premium member. http://www.geocaching.com/gift/benefits.aspx
  21. Thank You for clarifying this. I didn't mean to take your discussion off topic but being from Canada I didn't understand the term. Heading to the UK in few weeks so I've been creeping your forums Looks to me like your reviewers use quite a lot common sense! Edit - Because I can't type
  22. Okay I gotta ask, whats a "science place of interest"?
