  1. Auugh! My Better Half is going to Maryland on business this weekend and I can't search for 10 Years caches in Maryland! I can't use a pocket query because they're not events anymore, and the bizarro type they are isn't one of the options. I can't start with a nearby 10-year event and use "show nearest caches of this type" because that's broken. There's no way to search for a cache by keyword and state both. Frustrated!
  2. The biggest one I've seen is Size Does Matter:
  3. No. If cache owners were deleting his logs, he would get emails.
  4. How appropriate. At that link, Youtube tells me "An error occurred, please try again later."
  5. This has always worked. Since you're south of the equator, you must add a hyphen before the latitude:Latitude: -26 12.123 Longitude: 12 28.456 But the WAP framework isn't being maintained anymore -- you'll encounter server errors when you try to log a cache. The main site delivers a megabyte or more per cache page, getting a "page too big" error on my phone. Those of us who don't keep up with the latest phones (and most expensive data plans) are running out of luck.
  6. For the last several minutes, every cache page I've tried to visit gives me only "500 - Internal server error."
  7. Cachers in the west Portland metro area hang out at http://www.pdxgeocaching.com/forum/index.php.
  8. You can do that only if the stream has been determined to be navigable. Johnson Creek is not navigable -- it's not big enough to support river traffic. The relevant Coast Guard report is here.
  9. Eugene-area cachers hang out at http://gotcache.com/.
  10. Click My Controls in the middle of the top line. On the resulting page, in the Menu in the left column, click Manage Ignored Users.
  11. You got rid of the old print-friendly pages (append &pf=y to URL.)
  12. The correct spelling is "to-do list" (with a hyphen.)
  13. But those people do at least sign the log book in the cache. In this case, the last log book signature was by the guy who dropped the TB.
  14. When I log a new cache via the WAP interface, clicking submit gets me "Server Error in '/' Application." I wish I could afford the monthly bill for an iPhone, but I can't, and I'd sure like to have WAP working again.
  15. Something for mobile phones, but it doesn't work on mine. You can play with it by typing http://live.geocaching.com/ into your phone's browser.
  16. GCJHNB is an easy walk from PWM, the airport in Portland Maine.
  17. I don't see any report that #17 has been found. While it's way south of Tacoma, it's still quite a drive north from Portland -- a long way to go on spec. Maybe somebody will stop by on the drive to Geoboo? [i have to drive the other way that day. Saturday is when prospective U of Oregon students visit campus, so I'm shepherding my two 17-year-olds to Eugene.]
  18. That report is, again, just one opinion, that of Ken Dulaney. A guy who earns a living by making controversial pronouncements and inviting people to buy his research papers. Technically speaking, the Android is full of rough edges. You can't just throw together a Java ap. The API is still shaking out, and the core system has so diverged from standard Linux that kernel experts don't think it has much of a future. Marketing is a disaster so far; the carriers can't or won't make the platform attractive to Joe Public. (If I had spare time to write an ap, I would target the Palm Prē. Its marketing campaign is going well and you're not locked into the vendor's ap store.)
  19. There's no question about the "treasure hunt" aspect. Letterboxes are supposed to contain only the stamping gear, while regular-size caches are supposed to contain cool stuff you'd want to trade for. I know kids for whom the prizes are the whole point of caching. I think they can make the "environmentally friendly" case too based sheerly on numbers. I've never heard of a letterbox site where vegetation was torn up or a rock wall disassembled.
  20. Probably just as well. It's going to rain buckets on Saturday, one of the heaviest rainfall events of the year.
  21. You're not removing archived caches from your database.
  22. Really -- the only organized geocaching group in your area is SAGA. Most Salem geocachers don't read this forum. There's a geocaching event coming up in Salem: Spooky Activities, Ghoulish Antics I. Go and meet people.
  23. The Irish don't LIVE hereOne For the Little People Irish Factology There are 18 active caches in the Portland area whose name includes the word "treasure." A few pocket queries will turn them up.
  24. Was just there Wednesday on a business trip. Oh well, wouldn't want to steal a chance from an Idaho native. Now if only there were a tombstone here in Oregon.
  25. Most Portland geocachers don't read this forum. I cross-posted to a couple of places they frequent, such as pdxgeocaching.com.
