  1. I could, but that would then leave out of the query results all the caches for which a region has not yet been selected. (The debate about who should be adding regions to the existing caches is for another forum ) Living where I do, it's only 20 miles in a straight line to another region ... but it would be a 70+ mile drive to those caches, so it would be nice to be able exclude those which have that region set. OK, so I'd still get those from that area which have not yet got a region set, but it would be start.
  2. Pretty much as per title & description - now that 'areas' have been defined for the UK, it would be really handy to be able to filter out caches in certain Countries and Areas (States), by having the ability to 'NOT' the Country and State selections.
  3. Thanks to everyone for your replies - after a few attempts Amberel's attachment has arrived, which together with the GSAK macros and other suggestions should give me plenty to play with
  4. Not had any blank emails, but just managed to do a double post one of which was blank There seems to be a lot of double posting going on lately.
  5. Oh ... neither can I Edited original post in this thread, hopefully
  6. I know my GPSr can do it (eTrex H), but it's a pain the to keep changing the settings. The reason I ask is that I tend to use OS maps when out caching, but CacheMate only shows the WSG84 coordinates (as far as I can see). I assume the OS Grid ones are in the listing somewhere as they shown on the cache page and in GSAK. Is there any way of getting CacheMate to show me the OS grid reference for a cache, or is there another suitable program out there for an iPaq running Windows Mobile 5?? TiA for any advice. 7. This website http://www.clearthattrail.org.uk may be of use.
  8. You could do a lot worse than getting a Vango. Quality tents which in my experience are reasonably straight forward to pitch. Not necessarily the cheapest, but not that bad either. My Explorer Scouts (14-18yo) have an 8 man Vango (forget the exact name), which is similar to this one. It takes 3 of them about 1/2hr to pitch and is really huge - we had 13 sleeping in it last summer when another tent got flooded out We did find it cheaper (about 1/2 price) however, in an end of season sale. We also have a number of other Vangos and have never had any problems - certainly when my own tents need replacing I'll be buying from them. HTH.
  9. Not even if you change the 'placed on' date to the current day just before it is sent for publishing?
  10. It's now here. Looks like someone helpfully moved it.
  11. This feature would seem to be 'in development' as a week or two back extra balloons for all the AWs on a listing did show on the maps ... unfortunately also included were balloons for all the waypoints with hidden coordinates, such as the final cache location Needless to say that update quickly got reversed
  12. It would seem not from a cache I attempted last week : GC1CGE2 Had there been then the reviewer might have been able to flag that the final coordinates were in the sea (Depending on whether the owner had input the correct final coordinates or the ones which the formula resulted it.) I did find it strange that it was published without AWs as I thought they were compulsory for multi's & puzzles.
  13. I have an eTrex H and use paper OS maps - like mouse, I hate not knowing where I am! I have CacheMate on my iPaq PDA and do some traditional caches paperless, but find I can't see the screen properly in the sunlight, so it's mostly paper for me.
  14. A couple more for Kent, both set by DavJan: 8 caches in The 3 Rs circular walk, plus 2 Church Micros (270 & 271) and a Red Phone Box (5) - a total of 11 caches. 6 caches in Egerton Ramble, plus 2 Church Micros (241 & 242) - a total of 8 caches.
  15. Yep, thanks, saw the Hornets post after I'd written mine with a link to the main forum. Quality bug though
  16. Just viewing a few caches and noticed that for those with additional waypoints added, these waypoints now show on the google map at the bottom of the cache page - great, a handy feature But .... it would seem that for those with the 'final' coordinates also listed (but hidden from view), there is also a little symbol of the map showing it's location Whoops! Is it just me?
  17. I've usually got: OS map & waterproof case Compass Small first aid kit Hand wipes Digital camera with spare batteries Lightweight binoculars Garmin GPS Spare batteries for GPS Water bottle Small number of swaps (just in case I ever find something I'd like in a cache ) Spare log book & pencil in resealable bag (for on the spot replacements) Notebook & couple of pens Printout of cache description (for multi's - starting to go paperless for traditional caches now) iPaq PDA with Cachemate & TomTom Wallet Mobile phone Think that's it!
  18. Yep, I've done that - scanned the copy tag, laminated it and sent the TB off again - that way it can go missing again and I've still got the copy tag to repeat the process!
  19. Yep bought some maps from them a few weeks ago - IIRC not the fastest delivery, but within a week, so no real complaints.
  20. Apologies if this has already been in this forum, but this seemed the right place of feature requests / enhancements. The following is copied from a post by 'Frosty Flake' in Groundspeak Forums > GPS Related Topics > GPS Units and Software > Garmin Communicator Plugin, 'Device Not Ready' Error: Maybe someone around here will know who it needs to be passed on to
  21. Thanks for the reply, but unfortunatly that didn't work for me. Looks like I will have to go back to using a USB convertor as I was doing before. I did read somewhere on Garmins website yesterday that although it should work via a COM port, it is not guaranteed - only USB is.
  22. I had the plug-in working previously using IE7, WinXP, Garmin EtrexH and an RS232 cable on the end of a USB convertor. Recently reinstalled my PC and decided just to plug the RS232 cable direct into my PC (ie not use the USB convertor). Other than that, same setup - WinXP, IE7 and Garmin EtrexH - all updated with latest versions/updates etc. EasyGPS has no problem connecting to my eTrexH and Garmins Communicator test page says there are no problems either. However when trying to send coordinates to the unit from the Cache Page, the plug-in errors with the message "Windows Error Code: 21 The device is not ready. Path: G:\Garmin/gpx/myData.gpx". I also get a drop down with four removable disks listed (G, H, J & K - these are all media card readers) and eTrexH on COM1. Selecting the eTrexH on COM1 and rehitting "Send to GPS" doesn't work either - same error message. Has anyone seen this before? Any hints as to how to resolve it? TiA, Pete
  23. Is it possible to obtain a list of archived geocaches in my local area - had a look at the search pages and pocket queries but couldn't spot anything. TiA, Pete
