  1. The memory card is pretty much unlimited. Just depends on what's on the market at the moment. If you need it for mapping, 2 gigs will cover the entire continent of North America. Also, I have the 60CSx with electronic compass and barometer. Is it useful to the average person? Probably not, but it's cool to have when you do need it. In the summertime I keep an eye on the barometer to let me know if a storm is fast approaching. El Diablo
  2. The one you couldn't find is a bison tube with a difficulty level of 2. This means it's a micro cache and they can be a bit difficult to find. If you don't know what a bison tube is....it's a small cylinder about 2 inches long and about as big around as your pinky finger. Sometime the are camofluaged which makes it even harder to find. You might want to move on to another cache and come back for this one after you've gotten a little more experience. El Diablo That small? How can anyone find something like that? Maybe my idea of geocaching is incorrect. But when I get coords I expect to be able to walk to those coords, look down, and see that cache underneath a rock or something. They can be a whole lot smaller, as small as a pencil eraser. For now when you look for a cache be sure to look at the top of the cache page for container size. You'll see that in the top left hand corner of the page. It's represented by a series of red dots. The smaller the dot, the smaller the cache. Start by looking for the larger containers. El Diablo

  4. You may be doing nothing wrong. The cache could be missing. Could you give us the link or the name to the cache you were looking for? Then maybe we can help. El Diablo
  5. Some folks can't help being childish. It's how their parents raised them. The best you can do is pity them for their hollowness. wait, wait! i can't tell which side of the debate you're on! it's hurting my head! i was raised by parents who didn't let kids win games just to let them win. my dad used to offer to stop and teach me what i could have done differently, but anytime i beat either of my parents, i knew i'd earned it. when i play games against kids, i give them the option of having me play hard or not. almost all of the time they want me to play hard. they know they're probably going to lose, but they cherish the idea that they might beat me on even footing. there's an honor and respect to earning your wins the hard way. a twelve-year-old stands a little taller when you take him on as an equal and he kicks you from one end of the field to the other. You know, me you, sbell, A&T, and clan have pretty much dominated this thread. We have all voiced our opinions. None of us are going to change our opinions. We are now getting into personal areas that aren't going to bring any good to this thread. A&T and I agreed to disagree and move along without any hard feelings. I think that's a good idea all around. Why don't we just let this thread die? Better yet maybe a Mod will close it. The original question has been answered. Now we are just arguing with each other. It's been a nice debate, but we are getting borderline on disrespectful to each other. I respect everyone here. Lets call a truce. El Diablo
  6. I'm betting your first question is going to be .... how do I enter a waypoint. El Diablo
  7. I would like to hear a Reviewers take on the basic idea of hiding a cache and then designating who can log it next. As far as your idea of charging money to log a cache, I don't think will fly. El Diablo
  8. I think that was the point. I know what his point was. I'm fairly intelligent and can usually figure out what people are trying to convey in their posts. His basic idea is an interesting one. I know he was being sarcastic, but it's still a thought worth exploring. Note I said the basic idea, not exactly as he has layed out. El Diablo
  9. Well I use a 60CSX, PDA, Laptop, and a 4wd SUV. The greatest asset I have though is my wife in the passenger seat overiding all the electronics telling me where to go. Sometimes telling me where to go dosen't even involve navigating. El Diablo
  10. You are the owner of the cache. You can do whatever you like. However it might be frowned on if you cherry picked it. Although that usually isn't a problem since most of the good items were probably placed by you. El Diablo
  11. It actually sounds interesting! The only down side would be someone that takes forever to log it. Of course as the cache owner if that happened you could just designate the next person and cancel out the current one. El Diablo
  12. You should never post the exact cache location. Let the owner of the cache post spoiler pics if they want to. Generaly if I take a picture at a cache I'll do so in a way that gives away as little as possible. El Diablo
  13. I never claimed it was the end of the world. Nor did I call anyone boorish. Also I see crying on both sides of the fence. I agree with what Moose Mob just said. We are both set in our opinions, and the other isn't likey to change our minds. So we'll just have to agree to disagree and move on. No hard feelings. El Diablo
  14. You also don't get it. It's not about giving someone a false honor of being FTF. It's about placing a cache in their honor celebrating some milestone. I'm sure that claiming a FTF is the farthest thing from the honoree's mind. They are just proud to log a cache placed acknowledging them. As stated before, asking that others let that person be the FTF that cache is like asking people invited to a birthday party not to eat the cake before the birthday person blows out the candles. Every cache published belongs to some individual, not to the public. They placed the cache so the public could enjoy finding it. I don't understand what is wrong in honoring any request they might make. Throwing a fit in the middle of the floor like a 3 year old, is exactly how it sounds...childish. El Diablo
  15. You can honor someone with a cache really easy and there's no issue in it. When it comes to "requesting" that others hold off until they find it then there's the issue. You don't get it, and obviously will never get it. I'm sorry about that. One day hopefully you will discover this is a game of fun. It's not a life or death matter, just fun. I just don't understand why someone would see a cache published in honor of someone else requesting they be allowed to log it first would cause so much nashing of the teeth. El Diablo
  16. The caches placed in this cacher's honor by the other cachers, along with the request re FTF that the cache owners made on their cache listing pages, sounds great to me! I see no problems at all! And, it certainly does NOT seem at all "incorrect" to me! It all sounds like just plain old harmless fun, but it does go to show that there will always be someone who will come along and try to make a big deal out of something which is harmless, someone who maybe needs to start to learn how to let go of things. No matter how reasonable of an argument you make, they aren't going to let go until some takes away their keyboard. Trying to explain to them that it's not about someone handing a person a FTF, but more of a cache that is honoring a person is like trying to nail a raw egg on a tree. It ain't ever going to happen. El Diablo
  17. My wife has a Nuvi 200 along with a 60CSx and I tried the Nuvi to see how it would do in caching. It takes a little getting used to, but worked farly well. My only complaint was trying to see the screen in sunlight. El Diablo
  18. I would agree with you. If there is a logbook to sign, and you signed it, that should be enough. Personally I've never run across any of these type caches, except for Waymarks, or Virtuals. I hope they don't become common place. El Diablo
  19. First off you are going to have a hard time with a Street Pilot 330. The first cache you have listed is a micro cache and not the best one for you to start off with. The 2nd one sounds fairly easy, and is a small cache. Although it's possibly missing. You'll notice at the top of every cache page there is a difficulty level from 1 to 5, 5 is the hardest. Also it shows the size of the cache in the top left by a series of red dots. the smallest dot is a micro cache. They can be very difficult to locate. The other level you see up there is the terrain difficulty 1 to 5, 5 also being the hardest. You will want to start with level 1 caches with no more than 3 on terrain. Work your way up from there. I would also suggest you get a cheap handheld GPS. Your Street Pilot can get you in the area, but you really need that handheld. El Diablo
  20. Welcome to our world! I'm sure as you explore caching and your GPS unit you will have questions. Feel free to ask them here and someone will help you out. El Diablo
  21. To reply with a quote simply go to the post you want to quote and on the bottom right of that post you will see "Reply click that button. That's the first time I've noticed the "Guide" button. I'm not sure what it does. Mine was set to off so I turned it on to see what happens. El Diablo
  22. In case this might help you any. I can't send waypoints to my 60CSx if I'm logged onto AOL. I have to go through IE to get it to work. El Diablo
  23. It's a very small cache that can range from the size of an altoid tin to the size of a pencil eraser. El Diablo
  24. Whenever you log a cache the system knows that you have a TB and will give you the opportunity to place it in that cache. El Diablo
  25. Since you have a Nuvi the topo maps will be more helpful if you know how to read them. Personaly I don't have a clue. To go paperless you probably need a PDA. I've bought GPS units from Amazon, and yes the warranty is still good. El Diablo
