  1. I am quite sure I need to re-read "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" now.
  2. Wish I had these skills and equip ... sounds great!
  3. PQs working again. (5/2 20:30)
  4. PQs aren't running for me right now (5/2 18:50).
  5. Unorthodox goals? Hmmm. Would like to place a cache that all finders put in their top 10. Maybe that's not unorthodox, dunno. Would like to place a cache that's truly new/unique/different in some way. I have one in the works that I think will be unique. Hope so anyway. StumpWater
  6. Be safe if you do this. Don't even consider a sewer. Go in a group of three or more. Don't go in a storm drain if there's ANY possibility of rain. Bring multiple light sources, extra batteries. Tell people where you're going, in writing, kinda like a kayak float plan. When/where you'll enter, when you should be back. Don't overreach. Etc.
  7. Here's some cool stuff to look at. The Vanishing Point (a Canadian Urbex site) Infiltration (a webzine dedicated to urban exploration, including storm drains) Lots of links from both of these sites, particularly the Vanishing Point. Some of the photography on the Vanishing Point is amazing. I first found The Vanishing Point from BLDG BLOG which is a cool site focused on architecture. StumpWater
  8. Just upped it today: 10,340.9 miles is the distance from zip 27516, my home coords, to GC61B2. StumpWater
  9. Holy Mackerel! ... I just read the whole thing. Best. Thread. Ever. StumpWater
  10. I like to watch bugs that have moved through caches I own. And also bugs I've moved, of course. StumpWater
  11. There was a thread once about finding the antipode to your home coordinates (or something like that). Might be interesting to dredge that one up, it would let people know the general "target area" for a farthest-away cache. StumpWater
  12. 6866.8 miles, "Narita TB station #1" in Japan. Found it about an hour ago, in fact! StumpWater
  13. I'd be happy if it was moved there if that is better. I was actually on the fence between there or here. The interest in the topic, I would think, would mostly be found here in the TB forum. But you're right that it's a website feature request. If any of the PTB see, then they can decide. StumpWater
  14. Along the lines of how you can click "View in Google Earth" for an individual TB and see its total path/track, I would love to be able to click some similar links for my cache and see 1. the paths of the TBs that have moved into my cache ... this would show my cache as an attractor and would potentially look very cool once a good number of TBs had entered my caches 2. the paths of the TBs that have moved out of my cache ... this would show my cache as a volcano (kind of, work with me here) and, again, would potentially look very cool once a good number of TBs had moved through my cache 3. the total paths of the TBs that have moved into and out of my cache, with all of the "intos" in one color and the "out ofs" in another color ... this would show my cache's TB throughput and, once again, would potentially look very cool once a good number of TBs had moved through Thoughts? 15. I'm based on the east coast of the US. I assume that when I arrive in Asia (Japan, then Indonesia, hopefully then Cambodia) and turn on my GPSr (a 60CSx) it will find satellites and work with no manual intervention from me. Is this correct? I assume that it might need some time to acquire new ephemeris and almanac data ... ? Thanks, StumpWater
  16. Like I said, all seems well with my three little guys so far. They are either moving or are in the hands of very trustworthy folk. I'm happy to know that it's not frowned upon to move your own along if necessary, though. I want to release a few more soon ... I can see Travelers becoming a fun new aspect of this for me. StumpWater
  17. Just released my first few recently and they've started moving. Very exciting! One has been grabbed and looks to be headed for the opposite US coast and the other is in a very TB-active cache, so I'm optimistic. Made me wonder, though: what if a TB gets stalled out locally in a difficult puzzle cache, hard-terrain cache, inactive cache, etc. OK for TB owner to bump along? Would rather not, seems to defeat the purpose a bit ... but would like to know Thanks, StumpWater
  18. owe: $234 (This does not include the stimulus give-back, correct?) StumpWater
  19. You cannot claim this location......Groundspeak indeed has these coordinates. If you were to attempt to hide one here...it wouldn't have been approved. Unfortunately, the only way to know is to solve all the puzzles near where you want to place a cache. A couple of different other ideas have been floated around here (some fairly recent), but none of them seemingly would satisfy everyone. Couldn't this work like GeoChecker? Let you know that there is a cache within 0.1 miles of your proposed site? StumpWater
  20. N 35 48.505, W 79 07.876 I am using all of my powers to gradually pull my centroid home to 27516. I am stealthily pulling it through the woods, under cover of darkness, hoping no one notices. Yesterday, it almost landed on a deer. I hope to see it again soon. StumpWater
  21. My dad swears by vitamin B1. Not B complex or a multi, gotta be just B1. He takes 500 mg per day during mosquito season (in SC, no shortage of mosquitoes there). Says he hasn't had a bit in 2 years. Might work for ticks ... ? No idea about B and any health issues. Most vitamins your body just ... gets rid of the excess, right? StumpWater
  22. Congrats and well said from an enthusiastic newbie! StumpWater
