I have had one since last Sunday- when I logged it I mentioned that I am traveling west (which it its desired travel route) at the end of the month- that way when the owner checks the log they will know what the plans are for it. After reading this- I may email them anyway when I get home tonight.

I am loving reading all of this advice. My honey and I are new at this as well and we have just decided on decorating poker chips to take with us. They are light, dont take up much room and I saw a couple of really unique ones in the cache I found most recently. I think we would like to collect them and other signature items as we go as a memory of our caches that we find.

Thanks folks! I think I am glad we didn't find it. I wouldn't want to wreck someone's hard work.

I am just curious- we went on our first hunt today, looking for a theme cache. As it was a hippie theme, we brought along some incense which I enclosed in a ziplock snack bag. Sadly, we didnt find it but I was just reading on another thread about not trading items with scents due to animals. Would using baggies negate that? When I bagged them up, I was only thinking of keeping them dry- I didn't take into consideration animals.

This is a great thread for us Rookies! Hubby and I went out for the first time today and would have had no clue what to do if we had run across fellow hunters. Thanks so much for all the replies.
