  1. What's up with this? is this the direction that our hobby is going? https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6VQNH_path-mob?guid=222a331a-3704-46fe-911f-7e048d159d53 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6F6Y7_what-3-words?guid=9a5a013e-2ec8-44ba-bbba-239a141ed0fa
  2. So how is the MC treating you, I have been inconvenienced 3 times already with a email directing me to the non-Message Center. This really is a waste of time to open a email and then be directed to the website to read a comment that needed no reply. LACKEYS PLEASE!! allow us to opt out of the latest new toy on the website. I would like my geonick to not appear when people search from the MS, also if they click on contact me from the app it sends me a email period, not a email to go read a message. This should not be to much to ask that if a paying player wants to skip these unnecessary steps that we can.
  3. I've read it all and thought about jumping in the middle but decided to read it all. I just got here tonight and am playing catch up, I hope the Lackeys are paying attention!! Most of this thread would not exist if the ability to Opt Out was available (in my opinion). The Virtual, and Earth Cache owners like the way it is going now because they can file and sort, why take that away from them? Personally I just want to keep it simple, I do not need to get a email telling me to go log in so I can read something that could have been in the email!! I believe I recall 1 lackey commented that we could ignore the MC if we didn't want to use it. Let's back up, does Groundspeak want responsible cachers or not? I cant't hardly be a friendly and courteous cacher by just ignoring any incoming messages. Give us a opt out or link it to email so we can receive the text and if we reply it goes back into message center from our email. What we had was not broken for 90% of the cachers, all that is happening is that now you are cramming extra steps down our throats, and encouraging phone cachers to not bother with a valid email address. (btw, wasn't that required when I signed up, pre app days). I will try not to sound like a cranky condescending old grouch, but, Oh forget it! It's OK if the lackeys and newbies want there shiny new toy, just don't force it on the people who like the old toy!! Give is a OPT OUT button!! please!
  4. I have had 2 souvenirs removed, one state and one province souvenir as I got them from travelling caches. I will some day visit that state and province and would like to get the souvenir when I do thus I do not like the idea of deleting them permanently but it wouldn't be a bad idea to be able to delete them as if you never found them and be able to get them back if ever you want. This isn't rocket science and probably not even advanced programming. It's all over the web. "Hide from Profile Y/N", and at the bottom, Show Hidden Souvenirs with "Show in Profile Y/N" attached to the hidden ones. Another option that a couple have suggested would be the ability for us to "claim" a souvenir. GS could award a souvenir to those that qualify, then send out a "You have been awarded a souvenir" notification with a link to a page for claiming the souvenir. Once a souvenir is claimed it will show up on your profile, otherwise it could go onto an "Unclaimed Souvenirs" page. Brilliant!!
  5. I don't go to my souvenir page, but that doesn't mean that I want it full of souvenirs I do not like if someone else visits it. I don't collect souvenirs, Groundspeak forces them on me, I just think that as a customer, I should be able to choose.
  6. Yep, I'm one of those people. I would like to continue to cache during the month of August, but I don't want these silly souvenirs. Is there some unpublished method to remove souvenirs?
  7. appears to be happening in GA also
  8. This is how we do it, check out all of this owners spirit quest caches, I have a few also.
  9. I've been known to raffle the FTF opportunity at an event and give someone a 20 minute headstart on all the other cachers at the event. then the cache doesn't publish until the next day and then everyone can log..
  10. I like to use "cachestats", or "mygeachingprofile.com", or "it's not about gthe numbers" Google any of them and they are pretty simple, I'm a gadget geek but I'd rather be outside and these had the shortest learning curve for me.
  11. I found a "Shadow" coin in a great GASQ cache yesterday morning. How Cool!!! After not scoring a original while living in southern MI I found one down here. I think this may have to be a keeper. or at least a bragger for quite a while. good luck to everyone else who wants one. http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/07a358...9faaf5ee011.jpg http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/2f2973...e194ed2eefe.jpg I found it in GC1HRE4
  12. I highly recommend "ram mounts" they are a very versital mounting system. i use them for many handhelds on motorcycles and bicycles. all it takes to install is a adjustable wrench. just use google.
