  1. If she trades up or even. The only times I consider taking the currency are if it is a FTF prize or marked as trackable on another site.
  2. As do the other 280 people watching that cache. Only that cacher's second find since joining in 2004. Definitely not a power cacher.
  3. ....maybe not..... That made me chuckle. Thanks.
  4. I've seen that on several challenge caches. The challenge cache owner requested the bookmark list remain active for three months on most of those. After that, it could be deleted. There are some challenge caches where the lists could be combined. For example, if a state has an Alphabet and an Alphanumeric cache challenge, one could use the same bookmark list though the CO of the Alphabet challenge cache does not need the numeric caches. So far, I have not heard of any negative feedback from anyone. The same could be done with Fizzy (well rounded cacher), Busy Day, various consecutive day with finds streak challenge caches in different locales, provided the caches meet the other qualifiers of each challenge cache.
  5. From the main geocaching page, "There are 1,675,269 active geocaches and over 5 million geocachers worldwide." That's the best answer I have.
  6. I have found reasonably priced lock-n-lock brand containers at Ross Dress for Less stores.
  7. Out of the five I ran yesterday and the five I ran today for a total of ten, I was able to download half (five) of them. One disappeared when I clicked on it. Then I used the right click and "save target as" to get the other five. Some were on my download list one moment and gone the next without being clicked. My ready to download list shows two from yesterday's run and three from today's.
  8. I'll save you from having to look up one. Alabama has 11,443 as of 6 AM CDT today.
  9. NYPaddleCacher: Plant some rosemary or marigolds around the plants you don't want the deer to eat. They don't like the odor of either. I lived north of Santa Rosa many years ago. Annapolis to be specific. Gorgeous area up there.
  10. key words bolded, the problem has been with us for at least two weeks now...the mailer actually came after the banner was added on the site Nothing in my inbox yet today. I feel so left out. Don't feel left out. I didn't get one this week either.
  11. I saw that log. Sorry but I was glad to know I am not the only one who forgets things like that.
  12. I think some of the hamsters passed away yesterday. I know I only got two of the five PQs I submitted last night. The surviving hamsters must have been in mourning.
  13. Wherigo caches are required to have a container at the end. A Wherigo cartridge can be listed on the Wherigo site and have not container, but if it is listed as a Wherigo Geocache, it must have a container, logbook, etc. That is what I thought but the way the sentence was worded ("Wherigo Caches, Chirps, Locationless Caches, Travelling Caches, Virtual Caches, Webcam Caches, Earth Caches, Event Caches and any other type of cache that does not have a container with a log book do not qualify as finds for the purposes of this challenge.") indicated all the listed type caches do not have a container with a log book. It must be just one of those grammar things I learned in school in the dark ages when grammar and spelling were still taught, and tested, in school.
  14. .....you check the map on the GPSr to see which gas station may have a cache when you are traveling so you can "multitask".
  15. Appears to be a good challenge to see beautiful Washington State. One thing made me wonder though. Are there Wherigo caches which do not have a container and log at the end? I haven't found many Wherigo caches but all the ones I have found had a container and log at the final stage. This question has no bearing on nor is it expressing any opinion about your requirements as it is your cache and your rules. I am just curious.
  16. That is the kind of log requested on the cache page. I stand corrected. this is obviously a male comedien. This has got to be the funniest log that I have ever read I thought the cache write-up is pretty amusing, too. The CO pokes a lot of fun. A different situation than for the cache in the original post, though.
  17. That is the kind of log requested on the cache page.
  18. I had not heard of geocaching until one of my coworkers mentioned it. After she described the activity a bit, we decided to go caching the next day. When I got home, I created an account. I read the Getting started and other similar topics on the site. Then I read the hiding guidelines not because I wanted to hide a cache but because I thought if I knew what the guidelines are for hiding caches, it would help me find them. (And it did.) I didn't hide my first cache until several months and several hundred finds later because I wanted to get a feel for hide styles and locations, learn about different containers and make sure I was going to stick with caching. (But that is how I do things.) More on topic, I have seen some very good hides by cachers with very few finds. When I checked their finds, I noticed most were caches owned by some of the more creative hiders in the area. Then again, I have found some hides by cachers with varied experience levels which made me think they threw a cache out of the window of the car and marked the coordinates as they were riding by.
  19. If the container will not hold a TB dog tag which has an attachment, I call it a micro.
  20. Off doesn't work too well for me. I spray with Repel 40% Deet before getting dressed. (Doesn't seem to have had any effect on my cats.) When I get to the cache site, I spray my clothes, socks and boots. I also spray enough on my arms so I can wipe my ears, neck and face with my arms which keeps it out of my eyes and mouth. I have been using this method for a couple of years and I haven't gotten any ticks (nor mosquitoes) when I remember to follow it.
  21. To paraphrase a TV commercial some of us are old enough to remember: I can't believe I read the whole thing. And to answer the OP's question, no, I don't skip the log sheet.
  22. Congratulations to all those who have reached 100 finds! My 100th find still remains my most memorable milestone.
  23. Looks more like a blackberry to me (huckleberry?). It's a dewberry, if you're Alabamian but fine, show dewberries, but why a dewberry balloon? Balloons belong on the New Mexico souvenir. We have dewberries and blackberries (huckleberries and wild blueberries, too) in south Alabama. I associate balloons more with New Mexico, too.
  24. Looks more like a blackberry to me (huckleberry?). I agree, I don't see grapes Texas souvenir is a longhorn. In a stretch, Alabama's could be a blackberry. Definitely not a huckleberry.
