  1. The photographs from "....nobility of the English nation was there undone" (GCGEYW) can be viewed at this page. If you can identify any of the people in them, please let me know and I will add to the page. Paul
  2. Flyfishermanbob - A good point, well made.
  3. I have for some time been watching the "Nutria" cache in the USA to ensure that it works OK, and I am intending to place a cache of this type in the next couple of weeks, having already identified an ideal location. I considered the biggest problem to be the sharing of co-ordinates with other cachers who have not actualy found the TB, so have decided to use a locked cache with the key attached to the TB(the only thing left to do is to obtain/modify a container). My cache will be located in Essex and I intend to request that the TB is moved to another cache within the same county. I hadn't previously considered the problem of accidental finds, but I will probabaly now attach a laminated note to the exterior of the container.
  4. Thanks for the replies. None of the caches were abroad, unless you consider Wales as abroad . I logged 23 finds (whilst on a trip to Wales) on the day that I returned, but only 22 have been picked up by geocacheUK. I will contact them via the link provided by Woodsmoke. Once again, thanks.
  5. Does anybody know why my stats on GeocacheUK show one less find than my stats on Geocache.com. It has been like this for about a week now, when I last logged a find. Initially I had thought that they would synchronize in a few days, but this has not happened. Any ideas?

When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad I use RAM mounts for my GPS MAP76 - one in the car and another on the cycle. They are very solid and I would recommend them (available from globalpositioningsystems,co.uk)
  7. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy:Commercial caches generally are banned, for the reason of more poor planning (creating crap caches in front of xx store front). I am new to this game and am just trying to understand the rules, so could somebody explain how London's Webcam Cache differs from the description given above - it even contains a link to the restaurant's web page. Is the compulsory payment of money the only measure for a commercial cache? Interestingly, looking at the placers profile, it may have been approved in the states.
  8. I think that this can happen with any hobby. I have found that by having several hobbies, I have enforced breaks from some whilst taking part in another. I then have a hunger to return to one of the others when that becomes routine. I think that what I am trying to say is that a couple of weeks break should see you return with renewed enthusiasm.
  9. Thanks for the response. The underwater cache looks impresive, but I noted that there were still some reports of water ingress. However, I followed your link to the thread in the general forum and from there found this. Maybe my decision to buy ammo cans was justified.
  10. Has anybody used or seen any containers based on capped drain/soil pipes? I would imagine that these would be extremely durable, watertight and because of the shape/profile, possibly easier to hide.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Pharisee:..her ex - S.A.S. rucksack is already filled with food, water, wet weather clothing, trade goods etc. It really wouldn't be fair to ask her to carry a heavy steel ammo box loaded with goodies as well. She's really quite frail and a small Tupperware container would be her limit. You will just have to put her on short rations to counter the additional weight.
  12. Thanks for the responses. I shall continue to listen to views on the plastic v. metal discussion. In the meantime, I have just ordered a (small) supply of ammo boxes from Milisupply at quite reasonable prices - thanks for the link Sonya. 13. I'm sure that this question has been asked on many occasions in the past, but here we go again.... I am preparing to place my first cache and was wondering where, in the Essex/London area, I can obtain ammo boxes, or would I be better off using a plastic container of some description.
