  1. When i have been without Tmobile coverage, my phone has roamed on ATT Edge with no problems. I've only seen this do so once but i was in the middle of nowhere in oklahoma.
  2. I could totally be wrong here but i believe they develop the app for other platforms already, most of which are losing market share to the iPhone and Android. List of supported platforms at Trimble Outdoors The below link shows the current market share per mobile OS. Note this is for August 2009, before the flood of handsets that is supposed to happen later this year and early 2010. Admob mobile market share for August 2009
  3. I too would pay for this app without hesitation if it ever showed up in the Market.
  4. Have you looked at Geocache Navigator? I prefer this to the hand held GPS units mostly because since it's on your phone you can query caches near wherever you are which requires no planning when wanting to cache.
  5. So back in April Jeremy Irish posted reasons why they weren't looking at android as a platform for Geocache Navigator. It is now 7 months later so maybe we can take a look at his points for not supporting it and possibly counter them to maybe get an update on an android port of GN? 1. Over 10,000 apps available, i think a viable contender since Jeremy's post in April '09. 2. Android now has multi-touch (Android 1.6) so the features would be comparable with making many changes. 3. The G1 has been on the market for almost a year and per wikipedia there are at least 14 phones released running android with a slew of devices coming soon. According to a AdMob Android is climbing along with WebOS with everyone else losing share. I do understand the iPhone is at the top but you have apps for the companies losing share, why not suppor the ones gaining share also? 4. Android's market also does 70/30 revenue sharing for applications. 70% for developer but the 30% goes to the carrier and not Google. I understand there are 3rd party geocaching apps for Android but I really miss GN from my n82. I would bet that most people prefer GN over any 3rd party app because of the seemless integration to geocaching.com. This post wasn't meant to come across as hostile, i just want to counter his points to possibly open some discussion on the topic. And for any iphone fanboys who feel the need to respond without constructive input please just move on, i don't want to get into a debate or pissing contest over which is better. I own a G1 because i wanted a hardware keyboard and apple didn't offer one. Thanks!
