  1. I was using a Magellan Meridian Platinum for several years. I just got the Explorist 600 for Christmas. What an awesome unit. StarQ
  2. You will need patience, a car power supply and patience. Oh, extra batteries and water bottles always help. StarQ ---------------------------------------------------- I may be lost but I know exactly where I am.
  3. What version of Windows (assuming you're on a PD and not a Mac) are you running? StarQ
  4. But where will you put your cup? Interesting note: The Toyota Tunda cup holder in the center console is exactly the right size for the Magellan Meridian series GPS cradle. StarQ
  5. You can get Palm m500's, and similar, for under $100 on Ebay. If you don't need the newest technology then these units are fine. We use them at work for technicians. I've purchased a few for around $35. StarQ
  6. Hi all, I just received my copy of Mapsend Direct Route. Along with it was a firmware upgrade for the GPS unit. I installed the upgrade and have noticed some nice features added. Speed seems to be a little better, too. One of the nice features is the ability to turn on and off displaying individual waypoints. Check out the upgrade. StarQ
  7. Sell a different number series... perhaps start with TB000001?
  8. We're using Groundspeak's website to track and log TB's, whether they're tagged or tagless. I have no problem paying a bit of money for the service. Perhaps the tagless numbers could be part of the subscription fee... sign up and you get a free tracking number to put on anything you want. I haven't subscribed to Groundspeak yet only because I haven't had time to look over the agrement.
  9. First you have to log having the TB. When you enter a log for a cache, there's a selection box where you can show you dropped off a TB.
  10. I highly recommend the Magellan Meridian Platinum. Lots and lots of features.
  11. I recently used my Magellan Meridian Platinum on a motorcycle trip. Hours and hours of driving in the rain and it never stopped working. No problems with the display either.
  12. I purchased the Magellan Meridian Platinum for around $300. It has lots and lots of features including temperature and barometer, altitude, compass. It uses SD cards for additional storage of waypoints, routes and local maps. I found it quite useful on my motorcycle trip to New Hampshire and Maine. I was able to load points of interest for my destinations: restaurants, campgrounds, museums, tourist attractions, etc.
  13. Can you figure out where the sun was based on the light levels of the picture? Perhaps if you scan it into the computer and enhance (or darken) the light levels you'd be able to spot the highlights. Maybe the shadows can tell you. From time of day and sun position and GPS location, you should be able to tell what direction you took the picture.
  14. Here's my thoughts on it... If you completely replace the metal tags, the current travel bugs will become collector items and cease their travels.
