  3. We have walking holihdays where we base ourselves in one place and do daily walks from that central point or drive to nearby areas. The idea of a long distance path has appeal and you can pay people to take stuff ahead of you, they will set up your tent, move your suitcases etc etc http://www.sherpavan.com/accomm_booking/accommrc.htm is one such organisation. Associations like the long distance walkers association http://www.ldwa.org.uk/ make usefull reading. Also within these forums there is the Hiking and Backpacking forum http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=58
  4. Double post gremlin hits again, we love night caches please help us keep the list up to date
  5. Its kept up to date via me being told about any new caches to add. I review the listing and if it contains details stating night trails, reflectors etc i add it to the bookmark list. Im aware of a few night caches that the point of there existence is that the night part remains secret hence the mini review. If its not mentioned in the listing or the hint it does not get added.
  6. EE12 Enigma Variation Queenhill church Late afternoon light in this case but plenty of light and shadow between concrete motorway and the green sward underneath.
  7. Ahh an TB prison http://geolex.locusprime.net/#Travel%20Bug%20Prison or http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=258202
  8. Shrewsbury. Let battle recomence great history followed by flight of the dragonfly (shared parking) sneaky hide Town centre a proud salopian chache and then lets go geohashing. Plus a few other easier town centre caches mainly based on the town being Darwins birthplace. If your into outdoor stuff then the High Sports shop is well worth a visit.
  9. Our FTF's are mainly a long way from home 168.3mi GC2BDBA Bloodybush toll pillar 132.5mi GCXF10 Cairn to Cairn:Starter 318.4mi GCJWQY Dingle Dangle 269.7mi GC14QC5 Jac Jac's Island However the record has to be held by tacanaman with a perfect FTF ie the FTF the first cache ever placed in a country which as he lives near to me was a mere 7904.6 miles away for him. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...=y&decrypt=
  10. Ditto (apart from one special exception as a thank you to another caching team)
  11. Interesting stats i remember similar being available from GUK then ICACHE which Groundspeak sent a set of weekly PQ's to with all the data. I use a large database that i no longer keep up to date, when running a set to go out with i just filter by last gpx update date (<7days) which saves the hassle of determining archived caches etc
  12. Please note that this type Are prone to gaining extra water but can be used as multicache stages (piece of wood with coords written on them) whereas this type Are more waterproof in the long term. You could also consider using waterproof paper to get over the old soggy log book issue traditionally associated with UK weather and small containers (think logging on a rainy day water will get in) http://activesport.co.uk/shop/article_Memo...ps.html?pse=coa We have always obtained ours from Boots but prefer very small tupperware over them as it more relieably waterproof and with the very thin boxes available these days can fit in very tight spaces that some film cans wont. NB nowt wrong with currykev's comments it only has meaning to forum regulars and he did add the appropriate smilies
  13. We were singing the song all the way down the hill (with the oil bit added)
  14. Cant resist showing a few more off from our hol in Northumberland Kielder column Titanium collarbone Bloodbush toll pillar FTF ! Little church rock (hard to choose on this one)
  15. If you dont report them then this will not happen http://romesentinel.com/news?newsid=20100217-141107 This guy who was arrested and taken to court had pursuing cache maggotry for a long time since his arrest the maggotry in the area stopped. Some estimated tha he had taken thousands of pounds of property. Without the history of reports you have an isolated incident with a history you or the police have more to go on if someone is arrested or pulled over by the police in the future with a boot full of tupperware.
  16. Thank you ill email when i return from holiday.

  18. Instructions and link to MAGIC is here I know that hence my post, but its not on the cache submission page which would be much more helpfull for UK submissions.
  19. This would be easier if when placing a cache in the UK you got the magic maps to look at as these are what you cache is now reviewed against.
  20. Hello, Over the years we have tried to place caches that inspire others and reach our exacting standards. We hope we succeeded in this and set a good example on cache placement, location, contents and maintenance. It has become apparent over the last 6 months that we can not maintain all of our caches to the high standards we expect from other cachers and therefore also expect from ourselves. We also know from the private emails that we receive that many of these caches would be sorely missed and if archived this history would be lost forever. Therefore the majority of our caches are available for adoption. Please let us know via email or in this thread if you are interested in adopting any of our caches. We can / will provide full maintenance kits for all these caches including spare micros, clever containers, log books, swaps, reflectors for the night caches and all the other paraphernalia required to keep them in tip top condition. Note we are not giving up on caching and have a new series in the pipeline to celebrate Aaron's 10th Birthday (we have placed caches for all our children on their 10th birthday) which we know we can and will look after. This in addition to our IOM co operative cache Middle Earth will remain ours to look after. All the best Mark, Lynn, Krystal Kelly and Aaron We would also like to say a big thank you to Izzy and the Lizard King, The Washers and Chingwakabungya for adopting some of these caches allready. A list of our current cache hides can be found here http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?u=markandlynn
  21. Hiya, I currently maintain (ish) a bookmark list of the UK's hardest caches. It has only had a few updates since August 2008 mainly from emails from cachers recomending additions making it pretty useless for anyone using it to create a pocket query It also has all the archived caches that fit its criteria since the creation of this website. I am willing to update this data once if someone agrees to create thier own version keeping the archived caches bookmarked. I am posting this here so that the archive history is not lost however if no one steps forward to say they will recreate the list i will be deleting all of the list at the end of August. Criteria for the list is Any cache which has a Difficulty rating of more than 4 AND a Terrain rating of more than 4 makes it onto this list. Many thanks for reading Current list is available here http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...85-a560a7d759c8
