  1. OK its Cut Down Cache and the plan is to go on Sunday the 11th of July. The DNF's are a worry hope we can find it.
  2. We have currently found 44 caches and when we go caching (every other weekend) we are getting to arround 6 caches. So in the next three weeks will hit number 50. We want to do something special Let us know what would be a suitable cache. Our nearest cache is Up the dry cut in newport.
  3. We have recieved 3 visit logs today. Could they be in one of these free spam folders?
  4. Part of this is that you get more observant (nosey ) the other thing is modern forest / woodland management has shown that clearing dead trees, branches etc reduces the biodiversity of the woodland. Leaving them in situe leads to more insects, so we get more birds etc. These are of benefit to the trees as the parasites that carry diseases are reduced and you get generally healthier trees and more wildlife to boot.
  5. One of our favourites is Padarn Treasur Hunt a great place to visit and the walk round takes you to and past places you would not know existed at and arround the area. and in a logical order.
  6. We are surprised to be as high as 29th now if I bother to log the trigpoints we always ignore (its not about the numbers) we may rise a couple of places. Well done pyoung1s nice that you did one of our caches for the June figures.
  7. Cheers for publishing ours. Really like what you have done with the piccys and the new layout. Just hope everyone else enjoys the story . Sorry about the file size but the end result is worth it and i can now claim i have been published
  8. My contribution is slowly leaving my outbox, do you have a maximum file size cause i may just creep over the limit, Sorry if this is a problem
  9. Shrewsbury County Council have approved one of our requests to site a cache but have added an EHeritage proviso however they have informed EH and are trying to obtain permision on our behalf. Never hurts to get a few requests in to these types of organisation as they will need to draw up policy sooner or later. Hope this doesnt give away our next cache hide though
  10. Ours is written up and will be sent over the weekend when i have added the links and some pretty pictures. Assuming that a HTML attachment would be better than a text or Doc file
  11. Vitamin B1 is effective. Also eating Marmite sandwiches (which i can not stand) before you go out will discourage the insects. We usually have some garlic bread the night before and this seems to keep them away. Natural oils like lavender discourages wasps. Mark never seems to get bitten (just nettled and brambled ) at all while Lynn allways seems to get bitten.
  12. Me and my now volunteered family would contribute. May be best if you start quarterly and increase the frequency if you get too many contributions have been involved in a club magazine in the past and getting good contributions can be hard allthough looking through the forums editing down may be your main problem.
  13. You know your addicted to geocaching when your 9 and 7 year old girls have grid referenced every room in the house. You have an anti bramble and nettle kit in the boot of the car. and batteries are at the top of your shopping list
  14. Is geocaching ruling your life ? do you think Seaside should end with an “R” come and share your thoughts. You can tell caching rules your life when a 100 mile drive is a short trip out. You can tell caching rules your life when you know exactly how far your nearest cache is from work (4.6miles)
  15. Any chance of publishing the formulae you use in Excel for us math donuts? The Hokesters I can email the spreadsheet, just let me know which version of excell you use. This goes for anyone else who wants a copy. I use the average command to do the sums as i sometimes take more readings than 8 . Syntax for sum is =average(A1:A10) you will need to use separate colums for each part of the coordinate as excell will not average cells formatted as h.mm.ss.
  16. Thats how we did ours. We walk in from about 20 ft away (the accuracy of your GPSr) from hopefully 8 different directions. I then type the waypoints into excel and calculate the average.
  17. Just emailed to ask for a copy. We had drafted our own letter and have sent to a couple of organisations will be interesting to see the differences. Is their a list of who and where we have blanket permissions other than in the pinned topics?. One of our discussions is to get blanket permision for an entire area.
  18. OOPS I should of said Multi or puzzle cache. Getting some great ideas thank you This sounds familiar and is next on our list as we live 5 miles from gold.
  19. We are thinking of setting up a find clues multi cache at a nearby site. We have done one multi where you gathered numbers added them up and got co-ordinates. I have examined other clue multi's on the web site and was wondering what everyone thinks makes a good multi ? is it lots of clues, numbers to find, counting things etc. Let me know you ideas and we will try to include them
  20. We did Fishermans walk with three Kids should of seen us getting a four year old round that bit of rock
