  1. I have 2 magellan pc cables from 2 units, both identical. I am interested in sacrificing one to make a hard wired power cord for my car, but I'm not sure if there are power wires hooked up to the GPS plug in this type of wire. Has anyone experimented like this, and know the answer? Obviously I'm trying to save a few bucks from buying the cigarette lighter cord, and snipping the lighter plug off the end... Thanks in advance! Keithpilot
  2. At AOPA Online, you can view a list of dates and times that GPS Interference testing will take place. Most times indicate certain distances and altitudes that the signal will be unreliable, but there are some that are listed as unreliable to ground level. Personally, I'd like someone to explain to me how a signal can be reliable on the ground at a particular point, but not 4000 feet above my head... Hope this is helpful! 3. Just one concern using that out in the woods- The benchmark info gives straight line distance. There will be some error using the wheel, because you'll never wheel off a perfectly straight line, and going over each rock or stick or root will alter the distance a bit. Enough to be a few inches off after a while.... Keithpilot The Yellow Dog Project N43 10.00374 W070 54.87366
  4. All the more reason we should be using these in our cache descriptions. cache icons Everyone has their way of caching. No one is more right than the other. Personally, If I can't bring my dog, it's not nearly as much fun for me. Keithpilot Keithpilot The Yellow Dog Project N43 10.00374 W070 54.87366
  5. I believe that the EasyGPS translates the coordinates into DDD.MMMMM, while most gpsr's are defaulted to, and Geocaching.com uses, DDD.MM.SSS So, although they look different, they are most likely the same waypoint. If you want to check, change the format in your gpsr to match what EasyGPS uses. Keith Keithpilot The Yellow Dog Project N43 10.00374 W070 54.87366

  8. I just received this in an Aviation newsletter and wanted to make sure all are aware... Keithpilot HEADS-UP FOR GARMIN GPS III PILOT AND GPSMAP 195 OWNERS: In recent days, GARMIN International received a couple of user reports of GPS III Pilot and GPSMAP 195 portable navigators seeming to lock up when users entered a VOR or waypoint name starting with the letters X, Y or Z. Turns out this glitch was triggered by the introduction of some new intersections in the latest Jeppesen database update. On April 24, GARMIN released a free operating software update that corrects the problem. NOTE: If this means you, see AVweb's NewsWire for more, plus a direct link to download bug-fixing software, at . Keithpilot The Yellow Dog Project N43 10.00374 W070 54.87366
  9. I purchased the external low profile garmin antenna for my MAP76, and I really have not noticed any improvement in accuracy. It does, however, take far less time to acquire the satellites. Has anyone had similar or better results? FYI- my antenna is mounted outside the car, on the roof. Keithpilot The Yellow Dog Project N43 10.00374 W070 54.87366

I'm not too sure how the animation thing will transfer. Even if I open the Gif gversion in Paint Shop Pro, it doesn't animate. am I doing something wrong? 12. Not only with the quality and speed of the artwork, but the outpouring of generosity and helpfulness in the geocaching community. Mvwood and Fractal- Thanks for your help! Now I must ask each of you permission to use this as my logo- Keith [This message was edited by The Yellow Dog Project on March 22, 2002 at 03:01 PM.]
  13. My thought is to have a round logo with a Topo background, with "The Yellow Dog" in the upper curve, "Project" in the lower curve, and the image of a cartoony Yellow Labradoresque dog in the middle, with his tail pointing straight up and "radio waves" emanating from the tip like an antenna. I have specific visions, but no idea how to draw it! Any ideas are welcome! Keith
  14. I was wondering if someone out there is good at this, and could design one for me in their spare time. I'm quite a newbie when it comes to graphic design, and I have no idea where to start. I can visualize what I want to have for a signature logo, but don't know how to make it! Any suggestions? Keithpilot - The Yellow Dog Project
