I've looked around the Forum for an answer to my question and this is about the closest discussion I've found. Not exactly on topic, but close. When an email notification comes in, new cache, whatever, and I click on the link, I've always had the iPhone open in the geocaching app. Sometimes a screen comes up, asking if you want to open in the app or go to geocaching.com. I suppose at some point, I must have accidentally clicked on the geocaching.com option, because now all the links open in geocaching.com. That's not what I want. I want it to open in the app. How do I get back there? I've cleared the browser history and website data in Safari, logged out and logged back in both the app and geocaching.com, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it still opens in geocaching.com. How do I bring up the screen where it asks me what I want to do?

Someone from the area (fellow geocacher or muggle family member) might be willing to watch over the cache for you and do any necessary maintenance. That is allowed, you just have to let the reviewer know who is taking care of your cache for you. Good luck!

GC4AF3 Foxy Roxy (on the Big Island) is a cache placed in 2002 and is in danger of being archived. There aren't many old caches left. It is in an interesting location and is the first cache many people find coming from the airport. Can somebody please put out a replacement cache so this old cache doesn't get archived? Thanks!

Thank you to those who responded positively. We are driving from Alberta down to Arizona and back. Hence posting in the forums for those areas. Who better to give advice on the power trails in those areas than the cachers that live in those areas and have probably done them? There are several power trails that we could try on the trip, we just aren't sure which one(s) we will try yet. We are also thinking of doing The Iron Horse Power Trail in Alberta later in the year, which needs to be done on foot, biking, horseback, ATV or snowmobile.

I don't know about you but I only have a watch on one forum. Posting on more than one forum ensures that more people see my posts, will respond and I will get more useful responses from a wider audience than I would otherwise. If you have nothing useful to post about the topic don't waste your time responding.

I think you're experienced enough to know exactly what it's all about. If not, walk upstairs, look in the mirror, ask yourself is this really what it is all about. If the answer is yes then just load with food and water and get it over with. If I knew all about power trails, why would I need to ask about them? The rest of your response makes no sense.

I'm not sure how the poker part of it all works but if you go to this page Gold Trail News Link and scroll down, you will see the event for each day listed. If you click on the event for each day, you will see that there is lots there for families and kids. We thoroughly enjoyed our caching trip to Gold Country a few years ago and that was just driving around geocaching and sightseeing. Throw a mega, add lots of events, lots of geocachers, a geo-mall, lots of excitement and enthusiasm and it will be a "must attend" event for any geocacher! (Hey Gold Country! You might want to hire me as part of your rah-rah promotions team! lol )

Wendy and I did the Gold Country Geotour 2 or 3 years ago, so we've been on their mailing list. When they announced that they were trying for Mega status, we thought, "hey, this would be perfect...." Tim (Mr. GeoMeerkats)

I, personally, can never understand why people tend to be so bitchy when a mega (that is close enough that you can actually attend it) is announced. Just register, show up, have a great time, go home happy with wonderful memories and a pocketful of new geostuff, and be grateful that somebody stepped up to host one at all. Just my opinion. Who else has the expertise needed to host a mega except those who have hosted big events before? I'm sure it would have been ideal for the event to be marketed as the WestCan 3 Mega from the beginning but maybe negotiations took so long that they had to get the event published and promoted for it to be a successful event anyway and give people enough notice to plan their vacations to attend. The Poker Run would obviously have gone on whether its bid to be WestCan 3 was successful or not. Just be grateful that there is a WestCan 3 happening this year. I know we are thrilled there is a WestCan 3 happening at all

We think that the 9-day event in BC the "Gold Country Geocaching Poker Run GC43VD0" would make an excellent WestCan 3 mega!

We have a few guardrail caches of our own. That's still no justification to call the police stupid for responding to a potential bomb threat.

Calling the police stupid for responding appropriately to a frantic phone call about a potential bomb in a public place, just goes to how who the real "stupid" person is. They did what they are paid to do which is to serve and protect. If you are so worried, then get your own lawyer although if you are charged, I'd imagine that the courts will appoint a lawyer to you (at least they do in the tv shows lol.) We have been questioned by our local bike cops because they saw us veer off the bike path into the bushes and wanted to know what we were up to. We've also had cachers searching for one of our caches in a popular downtown park questioned by police. They only want to know if illegal activity is going on. Once it is explained what is going on, the cops are satisfied and move on. Most police departments are teaching their members about geocaching, what a geocache is and what it can look like and how shady cachers tend to look when they are hunting for a geocache in the bushes lol.

Now that we know where the 2 millionth cache is, where is the 1 millionth cache? Hopefully that one is in a more centralized location for the majority of geocachers.

Geocaching.com now considers cemeteries to be private property and you need permission to place a cache in one.

What a stupid idea. How many of those canisters where opened by unsuspecting cachers thinking they were meant to be caches that people take and rehide/publish somewhere else? What are some people thinking???

Is there an easy way to create geo art?

There won't be a WestCan 3 because nobody stepped up to run it. What a shame because WestCan 1 (Best of the Bad) and WestCan 2 (Island Spirit) were excellent and a ton of fun. I hope somebody gets a group together and will put on a WestCan event in 2013 or that will probably be the end of the WestCan Megas.
