  1. Things are normal here with Safari, Firefox, and IE. At least normal enough to geocache.

  3. Don't refresh the page (that sends the post again). Copy your post (just in case you need to send it again), and then use the Back button to go back to the forum. Then hit refresh. Usually you will see that your post is there.
  4. There will not be a 2008 Jeep TB. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3552454
  5. You added Bold, but if you want to go one step further, you can make the warning Bold and Red by adding <font color="red"> at the beginning of that section and end with </font>. By the way, you might want to run your cache page text through a spell-checker. Cheers!
  6. Rather than go to all that time, effort, and cost, I would personally just buy and release a new geocoin. Putting COPY in the name is a nice gesture, but this non-coin will still have the icon, which will fool people when they search by scanning for icons.
  7. Yes they do. Along with several other junky containers. Fortunately, they also sell quality containers. I haven't seen ammo cans in Walmart. Only the ammo ...
  8. I have seen them for sale at my local Ace Hardware store. Btw, I retrieved one of these recently that a cacher had placed but never submitted as a cache. It had been stuck to a guardrail in Boston for a year. The inside was perfectly dry. So, at least some of them are fairly waterproof.
  9. Last year I took a "Kirkcaldy, United Kingdom" Diabetes Travel Bug from the US to Belgium, but since then it has only moved east and is now in Germany.
  10. Not sure about this hide, but when we HIDE a new cache we don't HAVE a GC code number until after it's approved so the code number would not be listed in the container ANYWHERE. So when they got onto the GC site, HOW did they know what the cache was???? Searching by name isn't the easiest thing to do as they would have to do an advanced search. Since all caches are supposed to have the GC code on them, and since this cache in question had been around for years before this bizarre muggling, I would assume that the container had the GC code on it somewhere.
  11. Cache was found Nov 06 then it went missing, replaced by CO in Jul 07. This log is on Apr 26, 08. We found what we think is the cache replaced by the CO the next day. At least they tried to make it good. Huh? What are you quoting? Nothing like that in this thread or in the originally mentioned cache.
  12. Crazy. Makes you wonder how many other muggles do the same thing but just never figure out how to log it online?
  13. Do your notification co-ordinates (the ones YOU entered when creating the notification) match your actual home co-ordinates? I never thought to check that because I know I didn't change it....had no reason to. This happened just about the time they changed the software. As I said before this happened a year or so ago and I emailed Groundspeak about it. They corrected the problem but never did tell me what the problem was. Thanks for reminding me. There is an ongoing issue since the site upgrade regarding zip code coordinates. Google Maps changed them and the effect trickled down to GC.com. Do the email notifications use each user's "home coordinates" or each user's home zip code coordinates (out of the control of each user)? If the latter, then this would explain the recent change. I'll soon find out, mine was changed on the notification page and I didn't do it. I changed it back to match my correct home coordinates, so I'll see what happens. I don't think they are using my zip code coordinates because as strange as it sounds if I punch my zip code coordinates into streets & Trips (53511), it shows it about 6.17 miles northwest of the downtown area. In our town 53512 is the zipcode they use for all P.O. boxes, which naturally are located at the post office. If I punch that coordinate into S&T it show it .773 miles almost due north of the post office. Here is how to find out the "new" zip code coordinates that Groundspeak is using: Go to the home page http://www.geocaching.com/ Enter your zip code in the box and click on Go. The resulting page will be centered on the coordinates for that zip code.

  15. Stop subscribing to Forum topics. That should help.
  16. I just checked one of my coins, and it was dropped yesterday, but I never got an email notification. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1533891
  17. I don't know about the contest, but that Paris Hilton video you linked is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. I have LOOK AT ME on my watch list, but since the site upgrade, I am not getting notifications consistently like I used to.
  18. If you think it is a problem with the site, then you should post about it in the Geocaching.com Web Site forum.
  19. As noted above, most development teams find that an organized list of issues actually improves their efficiency. Also, when you have public users, communication IS part of the service you provide. It's very poor user relations to say oh, trust us, we're working on it but we don't have time to talk about it. The less experienced users simply feel cut out. The more experienced users know that this attitude is usually a sign of disorganization. Programmers like to just dive into solving problems. That is indeed part of the psychology that makes a good programmer. To stop and maintain a list of issues does require backing off for a while. Experienced developers, however, learn that the benefits are great. Edward I agree. From my experience in the "real world" of industry, the responses here give the overwhelming impression of an amateur, unorganized operation. I don't don't know if this is true, but that is the impression.
  20. Agree. But maybe a list of the reported bugs should be on the first page for people to view. Maybe with a quick status on them. Something like researching/fixed/Not addressed yet. Just thinking out loud here. It would give people some info which may prevent duplicate reports and customers who think you aren't doing anything. Just a thought That would be nice. I have read every post in this thread, and I have seen the same things mentioned over and over, probably because people don't have the time to read all the posts.
  21. .jpg is the suffix. Does Infraview recognize the as a .jpg? I am not sure what the problem is, unless the site is having technical difficulties.
  22. It is 123KB Type of File JPG I just downloaded Irfanview software thinking that would help but still gives me the error message. Althought it says only format files jpg, tif, & gif are alowed, I thought I also saw jpeg files on some of the other folks image uploads. I am completely baffled by this because in the past, I've been able to upload images. I even tried to associate one of the photos from jpg to tif but it still gave me the same error message. What operating system are you using? What is the suffix on the file (.jpg)?
  23. Then those caches would no longer be Puzzle Caches. Of one might suggest that a Ground Zero cache owner move their cache to the new coordinates, and therefore have to get the reviewer to re-review it since the distances seem to be great. But then one might ask, if the ground zero coordinates changes on 7/23/08 due to the release, will it change tomorrow for no reason or for a database update or zip code update... and force us to have to move the cache yet again... I like consistancy and am glad that so far none of the ground zeros related to any of my caches have been changed by anyone other than me. They would certainly still be puzzle caches. The only part of the "puzzle" removed would be that the person would no longer have to figure out where to get zip code coordinates. I just solved one yesterday after getting the "old" zip code coordinates from the cache owner. I still had to do the calculations (for the second time since I did them once with the wrong zip code numbers). Btw, the zip code numbers changed not because of the new release, but because Google changed them.
  24. I seem to be getting both Retrieve and Drop emails for coins that I am Watching (I have not checked them all to see if I am missing any), but I know that I am only getting some of the notification emails for Travelers that I own.
  25. Perhaps the inclusion of new Zone Improvement Codes has adjusted the coordinates that had existed for some of the many thousands of existing Zip codes. Too bad it's not possible to have all the old ones from the Tiger Census free database that existed when geocaching.com formed, remain forever in stone, and only add New ones to that existing database. I imagine that some Ground Zero caches are now impossible to find. The owners of those Ground Zero caches only need add the old coordinates to their cache page, and then the caches are able to be found.
