  1. I reckon we're dumb. I can't figure it out. The static map in the box on the home page is supposed to be centered on your IP location.
  2. That new iPhone app would make for the ultimate paperless caching! Now I just need to get an iPhone.
  3. Grab them back and drop them where you dropped them.
  4. Wow, I ordered these coins without even knowing about this thread. How could I go wrong from geoswag?
  5. Not very well. But that is a whole other topic.
  6. Some TB owners like it, and some don't. It can get a bit annoying/overwhelming to get a flood of Retrieve/Place emails at one time as an owner. I will usually only dip if there is a reason (for example, if the mileage would be significantly changed by dipping, or if the caches are really cool or interesting). Personal preference. Cheers
  7. The one time I found dog biscuits in a cache they were a disgusting, moldy mess (I have never seen so many colors of mold). I threw them away and cleaned the cache as best I could. So, I would not recommend leaving food of any kind in a cache.
  8. There is a Mystery cache listed in my town that has the actual cache 10 miles away.
  9. As said above, these people can just drop the coin into a cache, no questions asked. They don't need to apologize or even log it. Nobody will know how it got there, but the owner will be happy to see it back in action.
  10. If you know that it is a child's TB, then why don't you send an email to the owner asking them to activate it?
  11. This End of the World cache is pretty remote! One of my coins recently passed thru there. I am not sure where the nearest cache is, but it is very far! And this cache is on the North American continent. Edit: Wow, hard to believe, but there is a cache only 103 miles from this one.
  12. Check out this thread and the links therein. It is the "How to add HTML to Your Cache Page" link on this Getting Started page. In this case, you can simply copy and paste the HTML that Excel generated (either open the HTML doc with another text editor or open it with a web browser and then View Sources and copy it from there).
  13. Can't you save it as "Web Page"? I use Excel 2003 and that is an option. That will save it as HTML (or maybe XML), which you can then insert into your web page.
  14. If you are using Excel (or Open Office), then save it as HTML (or "Webpage"), and then upload the HTML.
  15. If I understand correctly, these are in the Online Logs, not in the paper log books, correct? I would say it is up to the Cache Owner, but IMO, on the scale of Spam/Advertising, these look pretty minor (especially since they appear to be advertising a caching-related activity). Cheers
  16. In my experience, Lobster TBs have an extremely short half life in the wild. Maybe this should be added to Snoogans' longevity clinic.
  17. Sounds like something your ISP, or some hidden ad-ware is inserting. How many screen shots do I need to post to show the difference between Firefox browser and IE7 before you understand that things worked just fine until the "Update" in July? Based on your screenshots and information you posted in the 7/23/08 thread, the "problem" is a result of your use of a very large minimum font size (20) together with the change in July by Groundspeak making the word "Advertisement" text (it had been an image previously). Now this word is forced to display in Font Size 20 in your browser, and it thus spreads out over other things on the page. Groundspeak should be able to correct this, but if they don't get around to it, all you need to do is lower the minimum font size in your browser until it does not overlap. Then why does it work in IE 7 with the same size font? If I was 20 again and had excellent eyesight that would be a viable option, but if I want to see what is on the screen using Firefox..... I don't know. If you have the minimum font and the font (e.g., Arial) set the same in each browser, then it must be something about the way IE displays pages. I know what you mean about eyesight (I keep my min font size on 14). Another option is to change the pixel depth of your monitor, and then lower the min font size, but this will give you less "real estate" on your desktop. I was in a hotel last weekend using a pay-for-internet kiosk running Windows, and the Geocaching.com pages looked quite strange compared to how I usually see them. Cheers
  18. My last couple of orders, they didn't include any Oakbucks. I don't know if it is random or if they stop putting them in after a certain point in the year? So, I don't have any more right now.

  20. I have been very happy with Garmin eTrex Vista HCx, and I only paid a little over $200 for it when I bought it a year ago.
  21. I don't see any problem with it. Log it and move on.
  22. I would suggest a 5 star difficulty rating. Let us know how log it takes before someone saws the pipe off to get to the cache.
  23. Probably just a glitch caused by a website update. Groundspeak will probably catch it and take it away from him soon enough.
  24. Why couldn't the choices be: Saw, did not take ---------------- formerly "Discovered" Took from this cache ------------- formerly "Retrieved" Got elsewhere ---------------- formerly "Grabbed" ?
  25. i'll bet you say "nuke-you-lar", too. it'd figure. Why would I use an incorrect pronunciation? That's enough feeding the "trolle" for me for today.
