  1. The unique icon issue has been discussed with Bryan at GC.com via Coins and Pins. We are told that Friday is "THE DAY" that this kind of stuff gets loaded into the system. So please be patient until at least Saturday OK...poppy

  2. Latest update. It is now about 3:15 central time and every sold coin had been delivered to USPO. They say the shipments will depart Clarksville (the boonies) Arkansas at 3:30 this afternoon. Thanks to all that bought our coins. You have assisted our organization greatly and we appreciate each of you. There are no significant inventory of available coins left for us to sell.

  3. We have an update on these coins.

First an explanation. When shipping using the PayPal feature we chose the incorrect postage type (media mail) on about 80-100 labels. This required that ALL those had to be cancelled and reprinted. IF you got an email saying that we changed our mind it refers to the original shipping label. That was the only way it could be done. Nothing else changed - you still are going to get your coin. The culprit is that old people (poppy)work free but are not always correct. Sorry about that but I was on the computer almost all last night and today is my 30th wedding anniversary. So that is where the heat is coming from.

The good news is that 80% of the coins went to the post office today and will be shipped from here today. The others were problems and out of country. We did not have enough customs declaration forms. We will make every attempt to have all the others in the mail on Wednesday.

I am not able to monitor this forum and work on the shipments both so if you really need me email thru the GC.com profile. I can see these in the evenings. Thanks for your continued patience........poppy

  4. FYI These production of the Ark Geocoin coins was ordered on March 3. We were told 14 days to reciept of the coins at that time. Latest info from Coins and Pins say they will be shipped on March 21. If no customs hassles should be in Clarksville on March 22 or 23. Shipping will commence soon there after. Thanks for your patience...

  5. I have a Garmin 60CS and when marking a waypoint for a new cache, I have been using the AVERAGE button to supposedly get more accurate coordinates.

After doing the average for 100-200 averages we save the coords. Then we back off 100 feet or so and select GoTo those coords. If it takes us to the cache all is well if not we adjust the coords a bit and retry. Approaching the cache site from two directions and getting satisfactory readings make us think it is good.

A word about comments however. We had a new cacher visit some local caches and repeatedly commented that the coords were off 10-15 feet. Inexperience led her to believe that the coords should be dead on for all GPSrs. Three of us all use GPS60CS and we will ALL have different readings if we do a goto a cache and lay the GPSrs down. So I would say let some comments slide off depending on who makes them.

  6. I emailed earlier.  Is there a list I can check to be sure I am on it.

    Team Sand Dollar

If you sent an email we have your order. I checked and yours is there.

But with 250+ individual orders we can't check each one. Your confirmation will be the Paypal invoice that you will receive when we are sure we can deliver the coin to you in <21 days.

I will post here when we begin to invoice so you can be expecting the PayPal invoice.

Thanks to all who ordered the Arkansas coin. If you have not ordered there might be just enough time to get your order in.

  7. Sent email for 3. Thanks for offering these to us.

    Two questions...

    1. How many coins will be minted

    2. What vendor is minting the coins

    Answers:

    1. 1000-1300 We are not exactly sure about this just yet.

    2. Coins and Pins

    Thanks

  8. The Arkansas Geocachers Association is pleased to announce that our 2006 Geocoin is far enough along in the process to take reservations.

The coin is to be 1.75 diameter antique bronze and can be seen here. You can view the icon, the coin (mouse over for the other side of the coin) and a description of the design elements.

The coins will be $9.50 each bagged, insured, and delivered to you.

The coin design and the icon have been approved by Groundspeak. We have ordered the die art but are stalled a bit by the Chinese New Year.

You can expect a Paypal invoice in approximately 3 weeks and the coins will be shipped less than 21 days after your invoice.

Paypal invoices not paid within three days will give the coin reservation to the next person on the list.

    Reservations should contain:

    Caching name

    Real name

    Shipping address

    Paypal email address

    Number of coins desired

    Reservation email: arkgeocoin06@gmail.com

All proceeds go to support the Arkansas Geocachers Association

  9. Our first PDA for caching was a Palm IIIxe purchased off of Ebay. It worked well but the screen was hard for old folks to read in low light conditions. We upgraded to a Palm Tungsten. We really love it EXCEPT the fact we cannot change batteries. We found the ability to carry extra batteries easier to manage that the recharge managment.

  10. I own USA geocoin TBGAJ8. It was placed in a cache in

October of 2004. When it was recently retrieved the cacher tried to log it using the number on the coin we are told that the coin has never been activated. Help please. Thanks.

  11. ........Therefore I propose that there be a new log type that counts as a "find." It could be called "tag" or "collect" that would just add a log saying you saw it and logged it but that's pretty much it. No miles will be marked nor will they be used for anything else but collections.......

Would the virtual posession remain where it was and the collection just be credited to the cachers profile?

This alternative seems very viable if the posession remained where it was, such as the cache it was physically in. What would happen when codes are shared and the T/B is just grabbed from one cacher to another?

  12. After logging a cache the page has a waypoint box that allows you to enter the next waypoint. On the page geocachingadmin.com/search.pl the default has Gc already there. Could they both show GC as a default?

Perhaps a additional box to enter a T/B number would allow the cacher easier access to T/Bs retrieved from that cache.
