  1. I have a new version of a Windows program that will calculate the distance between two locations. Now, in addition to being able to enter your coordinates as UTM, you can also enter the coordinates in Decimal Degrees (e.g. -123.4567) as found on geocaching.com. You will also find a brief help file, and have the ability to enter default "From" coordinates so that if you want to calc a bunch of distances from the same location (your home, for example) you don't have to enter them over and over again. Of course the program still assumes your distance between locations is as the crow flies -- it can only assume you are getting from one place to another in a straight line. It's new, so it hasn't been tested for all locations, but the math should work regardless. Send me an email if you want the small (24k) zip file -- unzips to about 83k. scheide@NOSPAMcdsnet.net (remove the NOSPAM)
  2. So I have plenty of memory in my SportTrak Pro. I want to upload a region from MapSend Topo and another region from MapSend Streets and Destinations. But uploading one wipes out the data from the other. Magellan says there's no way to do both, even though they are both from the same vendor. Grrr... anyone ever figure out a workaround to this limitation? Tia.
  3. FYI: Even better deal at GPS Store online: http://www.thegpsstore.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/site/masportrakpro.htm?L+thegpsstore+lnzm6244+1053519384 269.00 and for 30.00 more they'll add either Topo or Streets and Destinations.
  4. I wrote two mini programs (less than 30kb each) that I will send to anyone who asks: 1) Copy the encrypted text from a cache listed on geocache.com, click a button and it will decrypt it. 2) Enter UTM coordinates ('From' Northing and Easting as well as 'To' Northing and Easting) and calculate distance in kilometers and miles. There is a button which will launch a browser that takes you to a site which will convert lat/long to UTM if you need to do that. Neither are anything fancy but just little utilities that save me a bit of time. CacheOnly (scheide@cdsnet.net)
