  1. I made the mistake of running my geocache_visits more than once over the last 4 days and I would like to start over, does anyone know if it's possibile to mass delete all logs from the last 4 days and starting over with out deleting each cache find individually?

  2. I'm sorry if I haven't looked in the right place, but I have looked and have been unable to find a macro- or the ability using a filter to sort out and show days that you have found over 100 (or X amount) of caches in a day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  3. I know, I should've started keeping track of all puzzles I have solved, but who knew I might need them? I have started two databases in GSAK, one for "found solved puzzles" the other for "unfound solved puzzles", the problem is, is that over the MANY years I have solved a TON of puzzles all over the USA, and either corrected the coords on the cache page, or corrected in "user notes". Does anyone know how I can filter my puzzles in a pocket query by "corrected coords" and/or "user notes"?

The idea is I don't want to just run a ton of "unknown only" PQ's and have to go over each individually to find things I've already solved. Thanks for any and all help!

  4. About the open chest in the map display, the the reason behind that is because you have the geocache filter to NOT FOUND or some other filter that hides FINDS.

This is new from the 450/550 GPS. Your search filter in the geocache menus are carried over the map display.

If you want to see the found caches in the map then you need to change the filter in the geocache menu to show all caches or create a filter that includes found caches.

The issue with setting the filter to "not found " as well is that when you hit "find next closest" it will route you to the cache you just found.

  5. 62adaad0-3a0c-409c-8aba-057ba27ee85c.jpg this is the dashboard I was talking about. Do you see the "3" under the compass? that is the counter- no having to scroll away from the map screen the count is right there. Once again, with the open chest icons, you can use them as points of reference when routing. My only question would be why can't this dashboard, that has everything be used in the 600 so you don't have to scroll away from screen to screen.

No animosity was meant, it was just worded as if I was being told the "right" way to do something wasn't the way I did it.

  6. I couldn't disagree more about the dashboard being flashy and useless, I've found over 50,000 caches that way and want to continue. I can't understand why someone would try to tell me what I'm doing is wrong. If you find something that works, stick with it, too bad the 450 died. I have never loaded more than 3500 caches on the 600, because I like to refresh my files more often than that- for new logs, possible issues and newly published caches. So that shouldn't be the issue. The freezing up happens so regularly on this one that I have to take it back- at a minimum of 4 times an hour- we normally cache for 12-16 hours a day- too frustrating. I use top of the line rechargeable batteries, and generally get about 2 hours out of them- may point to another issue with THIS unit, battery saver mode is on.

Basically, as far as the 450's "Geocaching Nearest" profile is concerned, if there were a line of code or file I could copy and use it for the 600, I would. When you cache the way I do- and don't tell me I'm doing it wrong, things like the found caches and finds counter are important. If you add "found" caches to your search, then you will automatically route to the found cache when you hit "find next closest". I just want the icon there for area familiarity and routing. Not everybody like to cache fast, but I do.

  7. I took advantage of the same sale at Cabelas after my 450 died, FWIW this is what I think.

It's been 13 days with the Oregon 600. Here is my assessment so far, not that it means anything....

    Issues with the 600.

    1) Freezes up continually. Normally when switching functions. At least 4 times an hour, during continuous use. Even after all firmware updates, still freezes- you can't shut it off, you have to remove the batteries and let it die, give it a few minutes and then load batteries and start it up again. VERY frustrating!

    2) Touch screen is WAY too sensitive!!! CONSTANT switching functions and settings while normal carrying and use. Doesn't seem to be as ruggedly handleable as the 450, more like a phone. there are only 2 settings- Normal and Very Sensitive, both are too sensitive.

    3) WAY too easy to accidentally restore defaults. May not be an issue if the screen was not as sensitive.

    4) There is no finds counter on the dashboard. On the 450 I would use the "Geocaching-Nearest" Profile, that is not even offered. (if I could find the profile in the 450 I'd like to copy it and try to install it in the 600!!!) In order to see how many you have found, you need to scroll out to settings >geocache>count. Very inconvenient.

    5) No more "open chest" when you find it. The cache disappears. Doesn't sound like a huge issue, but it is if you are doing power caching. You need the "finds" as a quick point of reference when overlooking the map for routing and areas visited.

    6) The processor doesn't seem like it can keep up. It is probably technically superior spec-wise, over the Oregon 450, but with the 600 you need to wait a few seconds after you hit "found" before you can hit "find next closest" otherwise it will route you back to the cache you just found.

    7) Seems to burn through batteries WAY faster than the 450. Chirp search feature seems to affect it occasionally due to issue #2. Settings are too easily change.

Some of these issues will not be noticed by most cachers, but for those of us who do this a lot, and/or as fast as possible they are bigger issues. I never had a speed issue, routing issue, or any caching issue with the 450, I would still be using it if it hadn't stopped working after 5 years and over 40,000 finds. So far I'm giving it a 4 out of possible 10.....

  9. I put all Unknown caches on my Ignore List. When I solve a puzzle and correct the coordinates I remove it from the list. In this way my queries will only contain listings with good coordinates.

I only wish the Ignore List pages had a sort feature for 'Distance' and 'Cache Type' to make finding them easier.

At the risk of being repetitive you could download the list to GSAK and sort however you want.

While I agree that from this point forward, GSAK is a good plan- my original problem was the years before I used GSAK. I have found around 1500 puzzles- I would have to go back to each one individually to get the corrected coords and then enter all that into my GSAK database. I already have close to 600 Puzzles solved in different databases in GSAK- I keep one named "Puzzles Solved/Found" and Puzzles Solved/Unfound". What I was really wanting to do was to go to my profile and click on all of my found puzzles and run two separate GPX files- one where I corrected the coords and one for solved field puzzles and other puzzles that I did not save the corrected coords for. Basically, I want everything at my fingertips, but I don't want the hassle of going back through seven years of found puzzles and re-entering them individually.

  10. Make a bookmark list called Solved Puzzles.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do- I want to view the puzzles I've already solved- there are hundreds, so I won't remember them all. I was wondering if there is a filter to use to find which caches I have already corrected

  11. For some time now I have been using the corrected coord option for unknown/mystery/puzzle caches- I know I have hundreds done. Does anyone know if there is a way to bring up the puzzles that you have already corrected?

  12. I just found the first chirp cache in Illinois- thanks OBCJY! I was using a friends 62s. It worked REALLY well, AND more importantly I received the chirp about 100' away from the device in the pouring rain.

I'm not sure if it would do any good, but I'm writing to Garmin explaining that IMO the sales of chirp units will greatly increase if they add support for the Colorado line- logic being people are more apt to buy chirp units at $20 per, than dish out $400-$500 for a new unit, when they can go with someone who has the "chirp supported device". Maybe a letter writing campaign could do some good, who knows?

  13. A quick question for the coin experts- has anybody ever had good success selling coins on eBay? We are still fairly new to the sales end and would like to get input. This coin is still in the "pre-sale" stage, so we won't have the coin until late August.

    Thoughts?

  14. I received 2 Groundspek Lackey coins at a recent event, one is 2007 and one is 2009. They did not come with activation codes and I don't know where to find them. Little help.

The 2007 is owned by Signal the frog and the 2009 you can get the activation code at Landsharkz

So I can't activate the 2007? I get a note saying it's not in the system.
