  1. Sent my info to Laval K-9: 11/24/2021Name received from Laval K-9: 11/27/2021Sent my gift:11/29/2021My gift arrived at destination:12/9/2021I received a gift:12/18/2021 Ryan Semmel, I don’t know your geocaching name, but thank you for the treat-filled box you sent! 3 coins and a cachekinz!! And lots of candy! So generous! I especially appreciated the Kansas City coin challenge coin… nice to think about groups in other cities doing the same thing we live to do elsewhere… getting together for geocaching and doing coin challenges. Thank you for selecting coins for me. It really made my week. -Debbi

  8. I was really bothered by the over 100 Notes that were posted to some of the HQGT cache pages on New Years Day, which were not related to the cache and were just wishing Happy New Year and thanks for the souvenir. If people want to wish HQ Happy New Year or thank them for something, I don't think a Note on a traditional cache is the right way to do it, and it makes it hard for real cache searchers to refer to older logs. Geocaching's response to my concern was "Notes are part of geocaching, they do not devalue find logs." I disagree. See for an example, GC4GWB5.
  9. There us no way to be stealthy with that annoying blast of noise. It is startling, interrupting, and annoying. Not at all helpful. Whoever chose the sound for this and the fact that it defaults to do this obviously never geocached before.
  10. This is a consistent problem when posting about geocaching.com pages on Facebook. Some geocaching.com links display thumbnails, some don't. It is really vital for telling the local community about upcoming events to be able to post thumbnails on FB. Today I tried to share a link for an upcoming event, and no go (http://www.coord.info/GC5K88X). Yesterday I did one and it worked fine. None of the online "solutions" for "fixing" links that do not show thumbnails on FB work. The debug shows 403.6 forbidden. -Debbi
  11. I do find that when a commercial outfit partners with (does that mean pays?) Groundspeak, like Airstream and Michelin, it seems extremely hypocritical, when we are not even allowed to link to a restaurant that kindly allows us to hold an event there, or similar. Just expressing my opinion. Thanks. verano
  12. Oh good grief I just found it. Terrain, not difficulty, in the Gorge. GC4DGB6. -vernao
  13. I hope this is the appropriate place to post this... I am looking for a challenge cache I saw not long ago. It is likely in Oregon or Washington, and it required cachers to find a cache equal to or greater than a particular difficulty (I think it was 4) in each calendar month (no particular year). It may have been confined to a particular area, like the Columbia River Gorge, but it is not Leifphotos Gorge Hiking challenge. Help! -verano
  14. There are suddenly (in the last few weeks) a lot of caches, including some of my own, that have the "needs maintenance" attribute set that did not have it set before (when the cache is in perfectly good shape). I searched this forum to find out if anyone else had noticed this. i am wondering if perhaps a recent update made these attributes appear. Anyone else noticing this? -verano
  15. Oh, Moun10bike, that was too easy. Thanks! -verano
  16. Yes, Facebook uses real names. But Geocaching never did, unless you chose to use your real name as your caching name. The point is that we were all kind of anonymous here, and now we are not. It was unexpected and there does not appear to be any way to remove one's name once it is there. -verano
  17. A lot of talk on Facebook about how one's real name appears on a cache page if you are the first one to click "Like". IMHO you should probably have warned people that their real name will forever be there. I am not one of the happy people. -verano
  18. Thanks for your kind reply. It appears that not only the Inventory, but also the bookmarks must be above the Additional Hints. I do not recall seeing this phenomenon before last night. If this is the way things are going to stay, I guess I need to make my cache descriptions longer! Why is the page set up so that the items on the right must be above the Additional hints? 19. If this is not the appropriate place to post problems related to today's upgrade, kindly let me know. There is almost a screen full of white space now between the cache description and the Additional hints. This is in both Firefox 3.5.8 and IE8. Is everyone else seeing that? What used to be in that space? Thanks. verano
  20. My daughter and I have had many email issues lately. We each do not receive all of our email alerts for new caches, TB movement and watched caches and this morning my daughter received TEN EMAILS EACH for some of her watched caches. None of her other emails from other sources are being duplicated. Fortunately, when one of us misses an email the other usually receives it, so between us we keep up-to-date. I would say this has been happening for the last 3 weeks. It would be nice if someone from Groundspeak or Geocaching would respond here to this issue. And please don't say "don't depend on the email alerts to keep up-to-date." I KNOW that sometimes there will be email glitches and that some won't come through. The issue here is that there is a lot more of it happening these last couple of weeks and we have never before recieved multiple duplicates of messages. Thanks. -verano
  21. Sorry for duplicate entry.
  22. Not sure if anyone has reported this or not, but when I do a Hide and Seek a cache and use "by zip/postal code" or "by address" it works at first but later in my session I get "A location for '97960' could not be determined" or "A location for 'cityname' could not be determined". Same thing happens in both IE and Mozilla. I have had others double-check that I am typing correctly when doing the searches. This never happened before the latest site update. -verano
  23. Cannot get the maps to display on a Palm Vx when using Spinner/Plucker. Anyone else get this to work? What are the settings? If this does not work, would cachemate dispaly the maps? -Verano

    PDA'S

I have a Palm Vx and have been using Spinner and Plucker as described in Geocaching U. But I cannot figure out how to download the maps to the Palm. Any advice? Would cachemate allow me to do this more easily? -Verano
