  1. I've never used a GPS with an altimeter, but my separate altimeter is way more accurate on elevations (if set correctly each morning) than the GPS, even on WAAS.
  2. Called Garmin and spoke to a CS rep. He volunteered a free replacement as if it were a warranty claim. It wasn't, though, and I was honest about that. It was > 1 year and the GPS had been run over by a vehicle. Did you just send it back and ask for it to be under warranty or did you do the flat rate and they never charged you? Cuz I mean 175 bucks is WAY better than 350 and free is WAY WAY better than 175...thanks
  3. I've had no trouble using Garmin's POI Loader software to load multiple files. The only trick is that they must be in the same directory.
  4. I recently found an i5 on closeout for $150. Since it had all the maps loaded in that price, I bought it on the spot. Very pleased with it, especially for the money!
  5. Had something similar happen to a Geko. Not sure why, but they replaced the whole unit at no cost, even though it was out of warranty. Earned a lot of my loyalty with that!
  6. I got started with Invisible Shield a number of years ago and we've got them on everything...watch crystals, digital camera screens, iPods, phones, GPSes, other things... One thing you can try to make applying the shield easier is to use "pure" hand sanitizer. It's basically gelled alcohol. Brush a thin, even coat on the adhesive side. The "working time" is much greater than the water/deterg/alcohol solution. (Make sure the product won't be harmed by alcohol and use at your own risk.)
