  1. I am looking for a cache container I found a few of at different events. It appears to be a non-inflated soda bottle blank. Basically it looks like a big test tube with a screw on soda lid. Does any know what these things are called and where I can get one. Also other then ammo boxes, tupperware, film canisters and magnetic keyboxes. Anyone got other ideas for inexpensive cache containers.
  2. WWFM? I dont even know what that is.
  3. I have heard of two geocaching road rallies as of late, but have not heard any detail on what exactly a geocaching road rally is and how does it work.
  4. WELCOME ABOARD!!!! Pyratewench - nice name
  5. If you are looking for a great gps, I love my HCX but the one thing you need to remember is it only comes with a very basic initial map, so will need to buy mapping software if you plan on using for driving directions or Points of Interest. Also you will need to buy a micro SD card you can get a 2 gig one for 20 buck or less if you look around online. So If you buy a HCX get it off of ebay from garmin certified re tailor so you get the warranty. I bought mine about a year ago for like 215 and love it
  6. As for as the pocket queries emailing you, I have never got an email over this. I get the preview option and can work around what i need but I never once have been sent an email on this other then the main query for INATN
  7. Well that statement was actually a hint on how to solve the puzzle. well actually the next sentence
  8. The sad part, there were many days i spent cursing the name of the cache owner for the difficulty on solving this, as well as how many Tylenol i went through to get rid of the headache it caused me. So did I have fun solving it yes and no. When i was on the right track yes, when i was examining chicken DNA in depth to find out i was way off base not so much. The 4 star rating isnt really the point to me here it was the fact that i asked for a help and was ignored and when i finally did get it solved, they changed it and gave the solution to everyone. Now if you going to just give out the answer like that why even bother making ti a puzzle cache in the first place. This cache was only published like on march 2, 2008 and only has about 7 finds so far so i am sure there are more people in that short time frame that would have at least took a stab at solving it GC19WQ8 this is the cache I am referencing
  9. I am a little miffed, I was going though the puzzle caches I have solved but have yet had a chance to go out and look for them. I just finished working on a 4 difficulty puzzle cache after 2 weeks of working on it. I contacted the cache owner for a hint on the cache and was provided a hint that I already figured out. I sent an email to the owners a day later requesting possibly another hint to keep my solving going forward. Since the first email I never had any response from the owner and after a few days of no response I asked the most recent finder if he had any hints that would help me in the right direction in which they responded with one simple hint that ultimately help me after two more days of investigating solve the puzzle. I was so excited when i finally figured out the puzzle the sense of accomplishment on this one was great. I sent an email the owner saying thanks for a great cache and made a suggestion and the one word addition to the hint they gave me via email. I went to download the cache to my gps today, and noticed it has been made a 1 difficulty and after investigating further noticed that the hint now tells you exactly how to solve the whole thing. I was looking forward to adding the 4 difficulty cache to my books but now Im considering not doing it out of protest for the way this cacher decided to handle the advise.
  10. I learned about it from my parents who started doing it after learning about it from a member of their church
  11. I am about an hour away form Ann Arbor but would be interested in learning more details. But as a suggestion if you wanted more of the Michigan crowds to see this i would recommend you post this in the Midwest section which covers Michigan events and activities
  12. This weekend we needed 11 find to hit our 300th find and on saturday we hit 300 and found a total of 22 caches so now we are at 311 and now our goal is to have 365 finds by our one year to average 1 a day.
  13. Is it possible to charge your battery that are in the GPS using the USB cable. And if so how does it work my wall plug in charger died and I am left with no batteries charged. If it is possible how long does it take to charge a set of 2500 NIMH AA batteries and does the unit have to be on or just plugged into a powered usb port
  14. So far I havent found a favorite puzzle cache, I love doing them keep me thinking but as far as a favorite i dont know yet
  15. disregard this post here i wasnt logged in when i clicked the link and it came up with an error
  16. Yeah that is the same way I look at it two now I have three months to plan and find the perfect location
  17. Is there a reasonable limit on how hard a puzzle cache should be? I have been lately doing alot of puzzle caches and it has inspired me to write and place a cache for my 1 year anniversary that would be a large ammo can or something simalar with a combination lock on it and lots of goodies inside for prizes. Now to the point of this post, since i am gonna invest some decent money into this cache, camo, lock etc. I want to make it worth the hunt to claim a find on it. I am planning on making it so that you have to solve may different types of "puzzles" to get the correct cords and even a few bogus cords (but ill have a cord verifier so you know your right before you leave) So far the few types of puzzles will involved (hidden html source messages, video questions, well know encryption and numerical tables) Now once you answer each puzzle you it will give you direction for the next step, almost like a virtual multi cache. Now do you think what i explained is going above and beyond the heads of cachers in general. Or for the select puzzle cachers out there do you enjoy a challenge the harder the more satisfying the find.
  18. Here is the funny thing about the watching cachers and meeting them thing. I have a cache that is in a field right behind my house and you would have to park near my house just to get to it. It has over 40 finds and the only cacher I have ever seen find it was one that I knew was coming so i could meet them. Now I dont sit there and watch for them but you would think my dog would alert me of people walking in the field for a cache, he barks at everyone else walking through there. But now that I think about maybe he does and we just tune him out thinking it was just another kid crossing it on a bike or playing foot etc.
  19. I want to know when caching became more then going out in to the woods to look for tupperware? How did we get all these politics involved.
  20. I totaly get what your saying here on this i have 2 "keyholder caches" that i hid but i make sure to keep the log in a baggy and when i get reports of a wet log o go fix it
